  • I watch this over and over again. So beautiful, it explains how I feel but can't explain to people when they ask me questions about my hair. Thank you

  • I actually cried watching this video.

The song and your words go together.

Im getting into the mix of loving my hair again.

    Thanks for the video.

  • Very inspiring words. Food for thought.

  • Great video,,

  • Thanks 4 this video. Wonderful.

  • easy for someone like you to say that about kinky hair, when you obviously don't have it. it's dry, hard, frizzy, breaks constantly. I don't think anyone could truly appreciate hair like that. it's great that you like your hair though.

  • umm i straiten me hair and it comes out great :P (after like 10 minutes)

  • what product were u using on your hair in this video, or are your curls just that perfect and pretty?

  • Thank you so much for this video!I am transitioning and my family has a bad perception of natural hair. They will recognize atleast 1 positive thought about natural hair before it's over!Whether it be the thickness or a certain style, they are going to have to give it up!I can't chande them but I can make them think!

  • I love it!!! Beautiful!!!

  • Been natural for a decade or so:0) I'm also a licensed cosmotologist & master Braider. I love what you're doing here! Smooth curls, frizzy curls, overly tight curls; their all 'Good Hair', if it's healthy:0)

  • your curls are so prettyy

  • i finally did my big chop on 2/10/2010!

  • This was really a beautiful video. I cant wait until the day it is normal for our gorgeous black women to wear their natural hair texture. I do agree with TheMidnightBell07 though. The term "Nappy" is another one of those words that is a double-edged sword. It can be used as a term of endearment, or as a scarring insult that has the ability provoke very strong emotions(much like the controversial "N" word).

  • Thank you for making this video. The word really needs to get out there.

  • good hair is healthy hair. and not bald head. Quit living in grandma tales curly & straight make u pretty. And light skinned ppeople is more special than dark skin. It all lies to make u to look more suitable to wht society b proound who u r. God made us perfect.

  • your hairs is so pretty. i've been transitioning back to natural for about 8 months, and i'm really feeling the urge to bc.

  • YES!! They put the song back! I was so peeved they took it off. The song adds extra emotion behind this already moving topic. Love it! Wonderful video Shauntae1!

  • love it

  • GREAT VID.

  • Hey, I agree with all but the nappy style lol. Nappy means uncombed and tangled it's not a hair texture. Good hair isn't a hair text either. The definition of good hair is any hair that is healthy and cared for well. Coily is sweet, curly is cute, kinky is sexy.

  • very inspiring and uplifting!!!!

  • Beautiful...simply beautiful!!!!

    Peace,

    KN2

  • beautifully done.

  • PREACH!

  • amen! and what do u use

    to define ur curls?

  • What do you use to get so much definition with your curls

  • Love this video and song. You inspire lots of girls... keep up the words of wisdom and confidence.

  • Beautiful.

  • Thank you! I so needed this video. Thank you!!

  • Thank you for posting!

  • simply beautiful and inspirational!!! I wish everyone would read this and spread the word!

  • Truth, Freedom and Inner Beauty is the journey of a black woman who no longer looks to this world for the definition of how she should look. Thank God you and the rest of us have found this path. To love oneself is the only way to love someone else. Thanks for posting this WONDERFUL video!

    God Bless You!

  • I was DEFINITELY one of the cowards! Afraid of me in my natural state, Camouflaged by extensions & wigs, FINALLY I threw caution to the wind and went for it (HUBBY SAID "TO HELL WHAT PPL THINK") that was my permission, and 8mos ago the best decision I've made IN LIFE! I can wait to go out and embrace the compliments and surprise love, my hair love me because I show love to my hair, and everyone else can see that love. I love this video, and I thank you! So many girls need to hear this,

  • Nice video girlie....very touchinng....muuuuch love sista! Keep it up.

  • Loved it and thank you!!! I couldn't have said it better myself!

  • Thanks!

  • Thanks :)

  • I loved this. It's funny that the only real problems that I get are from our own. I'm not hating on sistaz with perms, etc. We are all beautiful in each and everyway. I just wish that could learn to embrace that concept and each other.

  • Thanks :)

  • loooooooove your hair...what type is it?

  • thanks! Its type 4a/b

  • That was great!! omg when i go out wit my natural hair style, some like it, and some just think its crazy- thats cuz they never saw their own natural hair b4. Makes me sad :(. They think straight hair is the only way to wear our african-american hair, so they dont realize the beauty of it. Lol, i bet, one day every Black amrican female will walk out with their natural hair once and for all, and relaxerswill not exsist after reading this video! Greeeat job!

  • Thanks :) Yes, hopefully one day we will all embrace our natural beauty.

  • MUCH NEEDED video for those who are afraid to go natural I love your vision its so positive

    Stay POSITIVE Sistah

    Peace and Blessings

  • Thanks :)

  • well said sistah.... i am still trans. wha do u use on ur hair.. simply beautiful sis.. keep them vids commin...

  • thanks. I currently use herbal essences totally twisted and another conditioner called VITAMIN. I also use elasta QP Feels Like Silk and ic Fantasia Thick'n Shine gel for styling. In the morning I spray Carols Daughter Tui Leave in Conditioner to give my hair a boost along with some water.

  • I am still transitioning and brought two products Elasta QP leave in conditioner and Elasta QP Mango Butter Moisturizer. My Question is when should I use the moisturizer for my hair? Every time I do a Bantu Knot out on my hair in the morning it is completely dry with no moisture at all...Maybe you can help me with this prob...Thanks a lot

  • This was fantastic video. I experience the some harsh criticism. But here isthe thing... it is usually from females who want to be natural but are hesitant and they express their fears through negative remarks and neg. criticism. Going natural was the best decision I ever made.

  • thanks!

  • Thank you!!!

  • Very well said.... Just Beuatiful!! :)

  • Thanks :)

  • very inspirational sister! cuz i'm transition n i think it's pretty apparent that i'm ginna have 4b type hair! i mean i love it but at the same time i'm like omg! what am i gonna do with it! lol

  • You are so right! I went to a beauty shop on July 3rd because I wanted my hair twisted and I still had some permed ends and most of them were cut off. Then on the 9th I washed the twist out and I still had some permed ends and I found a pair of scissors and cut off the remaining of the perm, now I am 100% Natural and it feel so good! I Love It! Most of the comments I received people said "If I had your 'good' hair I would go natural too. I was very disappointed at the way they think.

  • CONGRATS on being 100%! Yeah, the comments are sad. We have a long ways to go :(

  • Love the vid, almost brings a tear to my eye cause I'm deep like that! Thanks for the encouragement

  • Thanks :)

  • Great vid!

  • Thanks :)

  • I wore my natural hair out this week, it was huge just like I like it, it was everywhere wild and wonderful. I got alot of compliments from the outside world, when I came in to work compliments poured from the caucasian race, the African Americans not so much (the ones my age) I told them, this is MY natural hair and I LOVE it. Cant wait to rock it again.

  • I had the same response from caucasian people. My own sister-in-law turn her nose up to my Afro. It hurt a little, but then I held my head up so high and rock it. The white people around us starting complimenting on my hair and then she became curious to why they like it so. We (African Americans) need to get it together.

  • yes.. :)

  • honeyhued08 & kmaloney1973 I get the same compliments from other races about my natural hair but it is my own folks that want to bring me down. But I will continue to hold my head up high and embrace what God has blessed me with. I will continue to share my journey so that hopefully they will come around...

  • I agree.... i love my hair.. i havent seen it in its natural state since I was 7 and now i am 28.. My friends question my decision all the time.. But it is my choice and nothing that anyone can say can make me change my mind.. I LOVE MY HAIR!!! My last relaxer was 12-07.. i havent BC yet but i am well on my way.. it seems like i am holding on to dead weight.. let alone dead hair...

  • Beautiful hair

  • Thanks :)

  • Lol! Natural hair is just GREAT!

  • Sooooooo what is your definition???? If you mean good as in healthy, then thanks! BUT if you mean "good hair" in regards to chains that have kept our minds wrapped up so tight that we are too blind to see the natural beauty that God has bestowed upon us then I say this... I will pray for you.

Without a doubt it was the hardest thing I've ever gone through... and I gave birth ok :) I'm doing it again... for me... I'm ready to face the girl GOD himself molded and shaped, in his own hands... I'm gonna take all of her in :o)

    Thanks Shaunte!
