An experiment like this was mentioned in the (fabulous) book "Hyperion" by Dan Simmons - filming the animal decomposing and playing it in fast motion afterwards. It was a horror just reading about it, and now I've seen it...
LOL! I thought at first it was some kind of computer effect to make the stomach look big and all and yeah I thought the maggots were gonna explode out of the rat too. It looks like special effects! But it's not.
You know. Flies don't live under ground. And between several feet of dirt, and a somewhat secure casket, you probably won't even get worms. Still, there is no guarantee you won't become like this. Reguardless of what you do with your body when you die. Your body is gonna get abused. So we are all free to do whatever the fuck we want.
That was my point right there. No matter what you do with your body. Its taking abuse. Possable maggots, or you burn. You won't feel either one. So it makes no difference. In one your body burns into airborn chemicals and ash. And In the other you go through a million year process of becoming oil and fossile in the ground.
Covered that in my first comment. It is almost impossable that you'd actually end up like this at all. But if people want to be cremated because they fear this. Who are we to say "no" to that? Above all else, cremation is just way cheaper. lol
