Because it's like you are saying it's better to keep harassing and keep his econ down than build up your own econ to the point you can overwhelm the other player. But as we know both works and it all come down to player skill in the end.

Day9, the things you say are really nice but you should also mention that questioning your gameplay shouldn't lead you to believe that you are never good enough, because that might lead to a lack of confidence, and you need confidence in order to play well. Other than that I agree, constantly trying to improve even when you think you are doing great is really important. :)

That hotel thing bothered me, so you basically treat the symptoms and not the disiese ?

It's like having a restaurant where your cook picks his nose while preparing the food, and people complain about it so instead of firing the guy and getting someone who follows basic higiene rules you instead close off the kitchen so clients can't look inside anymore.

That will fix the complaints yes, but it won't fix the real issue.

@neveSykcuL he is specifically talking that it is important to answer the right questions i.e: how to stop the complaints. so in theory you are right but this is not a real-life example you hve given but a question about morale, standards, rules etc. etc. the real issue in your example and the hotel is the complaints. to get rid of that is important to you, nothing else. it is also more of a metaphor, so you shouldn't bother that much with the detail.

@neveSykcuL in the hotel example, the issue is not that the hotel doesnt work right, its that the customers complains that it doesnt work right, yet when the mirrors got installed, no one feels that the hotel is at fault anymore so the issue was solved. in your example, your cook is doesnt function correctly.

@btocoolman11 yes its an assumption but the idea with this "never flawed" is not that you should assume that these things are never flawed. Its about the fact that those things that you think are flawed are game mechanics or current meta game state that you have no control over at that point in time. So by assuming it isnt flawed, you are forced to look at things that you can actively control to fix your problem instead of complaining about something is wrong and make no progress.

@shadowcars I'm a Johnny/Spike M:tG player and I got the same vibe from watching this vid. I most loved his section on "Assumptions" most, I had one deck that played very heavily from the graveyard, so one player's "Assumption" was that "Hey, he has some very heavy graveyard play... If I can remove his graveyard, he's toast." But I designed the deck using land cycling cards to send creatures to my graveyard and keep my mana flowing... so I was able to start playing creatures from my hand.
