  • I have one of these and all I have to say is. How the fuck did you get half of those sounds? I must be overlooking something.

  • @TheQuiZNoKid How I did get the sounds? With experience ;-) Micromoog and I are married for a long time... ;-)

  • Yo,

There are some SWEET sounds in this puppy.

I'll have to come back when I have more time and leave a better comment.

  • How much did this cost?

  • I love your videos!

  • i thought i was going to hear some music....

  • @vitulano What is music then?

  • @ghbsow , sorry, didnt mean to sound offensive, but i love when synths are played in a more pianistic-funkier way, not just pressing a note and just tweak knobs, but i understand tastes are tastes.

  • @vitulano yeah, you´re right with that, I also didn´t mean to sound offensive! ;)

  • If anyone wants a virtual arp quadra go to my site and check my video.

  • UH hi, I have one of these. Have you tryed putting one of the audio outs back into the audio in? I saw someon do this with a mini an I was wondering if it would be ok to try it. Your MM looks great btw. :)

  • It sounds really great !!!

  • ultrasweet, this thing stills on the market?

  • damn those envelopes are snappy !!

  • for a real fan of monophonic synthesizers your video sounds like 1 million dollar. thanks!

  • Can you explain the synth parametes to achieve the glass bottle sound? I sounds terrific.

  • @Babyblue57 I don't know, I tweaked around. It's a typical Micromoog sound.

  • It does ring modulation really well, with the waveshapes on the Mod Bus, it is almost as if it has an MF-102 Ring Modulator inside it. Thats probably how it got those "glass bottle" or clangorous sounds you are referring to.

  • Where can i buy one?

  • Great video man, but the most versatile single oscilator monosynth undoubtly is the Roland SH-101. It has everything the Micromoog has, plus an arpeggiator and sequencer. It also sports an oscillator that you can use a sawtooth mixed with a pulse wave (with PW and PWM) if you want. Anyway, the Micromoog is a great instrument and I´d like to own one! Best wishes, Allan

  • @GordonRJ thanks... but I had a SH-101, it's by far not as flexible as the Micromoog.

The Micromoog has "filter mod by oscillator" with different settings "weak" and "strong", which allows all sorts of ringmodulator sounds, exotic dirty leads or weird noises. Everytime you change waveforms, filter, etc. you will get interresting results.

The Moog also has two envelopes instead of one. And the basic sound is much better.

  • Hmmm... but I has 2 env generators? It seems to have just one and only with attack and release parameters. I thought that the dinamic was defined by the amount of contour. I really appreciate your knowledge and as I am interested to buy a Micromoog, your tips are really useful! Thanks again

  • @GordonRJ ATTACK, RELEASE knobs and SUSTAIN, DECAY switches. This sounds limited, but you can achieve almost everything what an ADSR can.

  • I agree! I owned both sh101&micro and by far the micromoog is more flexible. You can get all sorts of sounds the sh101 cant do since the micro can go into lower frequency domains. The multimoog has more control inputs and can process audio through its filter.

In my personal opinion the arpeggiator of the sh101 is useless, and the only thing the sequencer is good for is controlling the filter of other monosynths. Don't get me wrong, the sh101 is great and I still have mine, but the moog is+

  • i always spend some time to watch this daily! i swear! :D

  • Sounds from Kraftwerk playing :D 5/5

  • @8462995 Indeed, they had a Micromoog...

  • LOL! the first note is an F. Weird...

  • Great demo!

  • watching your vids is really inspiring... you are a great programmer, you REALLY know your gear... your minimoog unexpected sounds are amazing, and these sounds with the samplenhold sound really nasty... makes me feel i wanna improve! i wish i find a micromoog for a reasonable price (not paying 999bucks for one)

  • I'm going to ask a serious question, would the moog really be as legendary as it is if it didn't have that low end punch? What specifically was it about it other than the bass end that made the sounds so famous or was it a case of it was great at the time of release and the legend continued?

  • @maccagrabme The Minimoog (and also the Micromoog) has a very good basic sound. No other synth (ARP Roland, etc.) has such an impact sound - due to the high quality components and the abilities of a genius, who invented it. It also had a good reputation when it came out. A Minimoog also looks great and feels great. There are many factors...

  • @maccagrabme

Yep also there is something 'magical' about the name of "Moog". The name of Moog has a sort of Uber Coolness about it. I first saw a Mini Moog being played by Jan Hammer with the Mahavishnu Orc in Manchester England in 72. I really did wonder, 'what in heaven's name is this?' With a 'sit up' electronic fascia and the name of Moog......for me it was a full package. A Must have.

I'm now the proud owner of both the Micro and a MiniMoog series E. Best wishes, Dave L

  • Hi. I really enjoyed your video. I was wondering: Did you do the filter mod on the micro PCB that allows deeper bass frequencies through? The bass sounded pretty big.

  • @jondon24 The Micromoog is in original state. The deep bass frequencies are normal... :-)

  • that complex modulation patch sounded really crazy! i love the moog rogue, prodigy and micromoog... they seem somehow in the shadow under the minimoog... i own a rogue and i am totally in love with it!

  • whats the diff between this and a microkorg

  • microkorg is from Korg this is from moog ! LOL !

  • obv....-_-.....i mean like quality wise..what can do more

  • well the biggest differece is obviously the moog is analog, and the microkorg is digital ! Which means, soundwise it´s completely different ! Both are complete different instruments with pro´s and cons. But honesty you should make some research about synthesizers.

  • and it has a better keyboard!

  • Minikorg, Microkorg - these names were all inspired by Moog - Minimoog, Micromoog came all before the Korg stuff.

  • haha hey its me again asking another dumb question about the dep-5

    does it have stereo inputs?

  • and the microkorg is digital which is not half as cool as this

  • One of my favourite sounding synths, the adsr is incredible on this. Sold mine for an arp odyssey though... ah well still have a multimoog though!

  • or should i have said the asr ..

  • Great sound. And it does look very similar to the Sequential Circuits Pro One synthesizer.

  • that is one ugly looking synth, great sound though

  • The Micromoog is not ugly! It looks great and sounds great...

It looks similar to the Sequential Pro One.

  • If there is one ugly instrument in the world, it's Hammond B-200. Not Micromoog.

  • are you instrument for i criticize yours? that's sad, man. and true b-200 is ugly

  • Very nice synth work. And this Micromoog seems to be in great shape both externally and internally. Is that a Space Echo I am hearing it being played through? Any other effects being used besides the delay? What type of microphone are you using?

  • Thanks... yes, it is in great shape. For the fx I used the DEP-5 and ProR3 only. I recorded the "line" level without microphones.

  • Is that a Roland Space Echo you're using? Any other effects going on in there?

  • It looks so simple, but WOW. What impressive sounds.

  • this would be a great addition to my Juno 60 i guess ! What a shame its so rare... and expensive...

  • is this one midified ? How are you sequencing it ?

  • It has a "sample & hold" function, which repeats the notes. Similar to the ARP Odyssey, or Korg Minikorg 700.

    It was played without MIDI.

  • As always: great synth and great demo. Thanks!

  • Classic MOOG sounds!

  • really pretty. Does it have ring mod?

  • Ring mod with a single oscillator is not possible. But you can get ring mod like sounds by modulating filter by oscillator.

  • really pretty.

  • Great!

    Does it got an arpeggiator?

  • no, but it has "repeat" and "sample & hold" which are triggered by the LFO - like many synths of that era.

  • very cool analogue sound, i like the programming too :D.

apparently more of these have been produced than the minimoog.
