This is actually a test that was done approx 30 yrs ago. They followed the kids in the test and found them to be more successful, more self controlled with less of them using drugs or exhibiting bad behavour. Very interesting study... worth googling.

I saw footage (from the 1960's or 70's) one kid looked around to see if anyone was around and proceeded to pick from the bottom of the marshmallow. When the administrator returned, he asked the kid why he ate some of it, even after he was told that he would get more if he waited. The kid shrugged and said "becaaause". When pressed, he shyly said "Because I don't know you". To the kid, this guy could have been a damn liar. The administrator didn't understand that this kid was street-wise.
