  • should have chopped off the introduction.

  • Best Lyrics ever written..

  • This is the last track on "Bruce Springsteen greatest hits CD", and IMO, the CD version is much better than this.

  • The fir st time I saw Bruce was at Liberty Hall on Chenevert in1974. A girl that I knew had a boy friend that qorked there and I saw all the shows. I went to see the Boss with no expectations. I was blown away. I knew the late music critic for the Houston Post (later the Chronicle) Bob Claypool, and spoke to him at the concert. He was blown away too. He was one of the first Springsteen proponents in the press. Bruce never forgot that.

  • Haha. Look at this guy: just sits there and sings Truth. Okay then.

  • can someone explain what this song is about. i love the melody and lyrics but can't seem to understand what its about

  • @michiganfan51 America!

  • Fuck off spanish woman, let the music entertain.

  • I really dont get why people hits "I don't like" :-|

  • Brilliant. Superb.

  • A True Master. This is why they call Bruce "The Boss". I see that there are actually 4 dislikes of this video. All I can say about that is WOW. But that is negativity, and when you listen to a master songwriter / singer like Bruce, you just get lost in the moment of the song; such a positive and uplifting experience.

    Mr. Springsteen, Sir, Awesome!

  • @RandomConcepts van zant

  • Driving home to the "Badlands" of New Jersey from Pittsburgh to see my Wife and Family, down I-76 on a fall day, listenin' to Bruce...doesn't get any better than this...

  • It"s beautiful the lyrics.

  • This is one of my favorite Springsteen songs...absolutely beautiful. Thanks for posting! :)

  • mr U SA

  • fantastic!!!

  • so amazing and multi talented. not easy tryin sing & play guitar let along play harmonica & guitar too. hands down amazing, a man for all seasons, his music lives on and on.

  • anybody still dig the guitar-harmonica combination nowdays as much as I do?

  • @profittlich I do, when he does it.

  • As if he wasn't Dylanish enough already...

Now he sings like him as well.

  • @CentraCross Um.. yes hes influenced Dylan.. Dylan can write some AMAZING songs one of the best ever.. but no one NO ONE compares to the BOSS. and Dylan def. lacks the passion Bruce does.

  • Brilliant!

  • Fantastico !!!

  • i love the last line 'meet me in the dream of this hardland' because in your dreams it sure as heck aint a hard land.....but just goin to work everyday: knowin youve done what you can as a man, is the only dream most guys are goin after.....the hard land is just a simple life...long live the boss!!

  • Simplemente fantastico, amazing!

  • Stunning!!

  • chick at the beginning is smokin...hell yeah

  • tuning is DOUBLE DROP D with capo at the third fret.Tune your low and high e string down one step and then play a D shape but let the 1st and 6th string ring open

  • Great words, great melody, great song, great singer

  • you are dumb

  • its definately not dadgad tuning,, it sounds awful using that!!

  • eleee é demais poxa !

  • Every version of the same song is always just a little different.

  • this just rules fukin ace !!!

  • I think that this is the best lyrics he ever wrote. One of the few songs that makes me cry sometimes, driving my truck to work at 4 a.m. A lot of us out there can really relate to this one...

  • @ Jimhaas3,

Your reaction brought tears in mijn eyes!

  • @jimhaas3 respect, buddy

  • @jimhaas3

I agree, it's a strong song. I also really like Atlantic City and Streets of Philadelphia. :)

  • bruce,his guitar, harmonica and lyrics= genious.........this is a nicccceee version....

  • amazing song

  • can anyone tell me at all what key his harmonica is in,, and also those chords he uses in this version???? cant work this one out,, much appreciated.

  • I can't tell you exactly what key, but I'm pretty sure it aint a G like he uses on the album version. dunno if it helps?

  • if the key is "c" which i think it is in than thats it....no such thing as a "g" key or harmonica last time i checked

  • I think it the bass E is dropped down to D with a capo third in F

  • sounds and looks like DADGAD tuning and the key is definitely "F"

  • The key is "F"... he is using a DADGAD tuning on the guitar and capoing the 3rd fret

  • That's at least at Dylan's level I'd say...

  • @JGL71: I hear ya, Dylan is amazing, but damn this performance shows him without the magic of the E street band. And he's still great! Amazing

  • just BRAVO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • one of his best songs. probably wouldn't have fit on BITUSA, but i'm glad it got on greatest hits. BITUSA version was a better arrangement though.

  • It's an outtake. Consider that he left it out of Born In the USA album in 1984

  • that girl is en fuego

  • for a song that was never actually released until the greatest hits and tracks.

it was always very well known and played alot at his concerts.

it is up there in most peoples top 10 i would think.

    love this mellower version. GREAT

  • AMAZING

  • nobody,no musician past or present, writes the in-cre-dible song lyrics that Bruce writes. Bruce is gifted at writing song lyrics.Gifted.

  • If i were to be stranded on a deserted island and could only bring two things with me, it would be the Boss and his harmonica. Wouldn't have to think twice. :)

  • no guitar?

  • brilliant!

    gracias,

  • Yep...a great acoustic version. Thunder Road...This Hard Land...and The Ghost of Tom Joad...the big three....to me.

  • Atlantic City! that makes my hair stand on end every time!!!

  • The boss and his harmonica! The best to dream!

  • he is the master, he is the boss!! J'adore cette version!

  • Great video, thanks for posting man!

  • bruce and a harmonica, that's all ya need!

  • This song totally makes me think of my family and miss my brother. Good work, Bruce. Good work.

  • god

  • mr crohnin!

  • One of my best-3 of Bruce's songs.

And this solo version is better than the one with the ESB.

-P.S: I also like a lot the sexy girl who introduces Bruce !!!

  • Anyone know what kind of harmonica he uses ?

  • Hohner !

I have one that he autographed to me at home !...

  • Hohner marine band. M.

  • I love the mellow version of this without the "hard drive" and anthemic sound of the original. It's fitting that on spanish T.V. he does a version closer to Matomoros Bank or Across the Border. Let's hope we can all arrive at the dream!

  • I also love his accoustic versions... It's something about his lyrics that fits the accoustic expression.. I've loved his music since I was 14... now I'm 42... he has something with him... just the fantastic music that speaks for itself..he doesn't have to make any scandals for selling music... did you know that Norway has the biggest fan-base of this great musician... his latest album... Magic.... well 10% of the records sold world-wide was sold in Norway...

  • RESPECT

  • It takes such a long time to say "1975" in Spanish...

  • Well, because you shorten it by saying 19 and 75 instead of 1975 (one thousand, nine hundred and seventy five) you see, it's long in english too.

  • LOL!

  • This is a really good song and a good version of it

  • The illusion is that 'we' talk about his voice, his acoustic vs electric debate.

This for me is a great song, as great as some of Bob D's songs, a song that protest's and has melody, has a story and has passion.

What ever you make of this, it is a story of 'lost treasure' and love within a family, and in the end the message is one of hope.

  • One of my fav songs.

  • Never liked the way he does this acoustically - he takes the easy way out and sings low on the "Blown around" bit. The best part of the studio version is where he rips into that high note... I know he can't really reach it but it's good anyway.

  • 52esquire! I also prefer the studio version :-). But I am sure, that Bruce can sing it in high note also on the concert, but mayby he decided to make a difference? He likes making suprises on his live performances.

  • shes sooo hot.

  • such a loser get a life.

  • Not Bruce, dummy!

  • I actually love this song!

  • Excellent.

    Pretty rare in live.
