yes football should introduce tech in the game . . . cricket (hawk eye, super slow mo replays, infra red sensors ) and tennis (hawk eye) are already using it pretty successfully.. I knw football is not a stop and play game, but decisive conclusion in any situation could be attained in a matter of seconds.. that cant hurt surely not as much as this and the recent Nani/ronaldo incident..

A hawkeye system relayed to a referee's ear-piece would be fine. Because that's an instant decision, that a more able referee would make anyway.

But what we need to avoid is the rugby scenario - where a guy scores a try and we wait two minutes to see whether he did or not. By the time the decision is made, that joyous moment is lost - and all it becomes is whether one team has added points to their score.

I don't favour this option - because the grass roots of football are never about hi-tech gadgets and multiple referees. It's simply 22 people on a field & one extra who decides if it's a fair game or not. (2 helpers on the side)

An instant beep in the referee's ear when the ball crosses the line is fine for me - it works very successfully during the serve in tennis, and does not hold up the game. Indeed, it speeds it up! A tennis player who once would have challenged the umpire now knows instantly that they are to just get on with the game when they hear the beep.

But video evidence reviews are a no-no for football. That's not the spirit of the game that anyone can play in any park across the world.
