  • pure dimebag darell style!!

  • :) Not your average "look-how-fast-everything-can-be-played-unneceassarily" yokel for sure! Nice stuff , very refreshing to listen to someone with a little temperance *AND* great speed that's used very effectively as a "tension device" or , simply , more like a "tool" than an entire style.

  • @BeauShelbyandFlyy Thanks so much Beau.

    Mike

  • NIce chops!

  • Are those "Dirty Fingers pups, or did you just take the covers off the '57 Classics?

  • very good, sound very interesting

  • Does it have a center block? I can imagine it will feedback like crazy on high gain in a band situation without it because it got that hanging bridge.

  • @William102582 Yes it does have a center block. Some came standard with a trapeze tail piece. It does not feedback at high gain, played it out for years.

  • What Distortion are you using? and What type of amplifier?

  • @Lucashfoogle LINE 6 POD 2.0

  • Awesome playin :)

  • @CadillacL Thanks a lot Man.

    Mike

  • may i hope to have my beloved as long as you my friend.

  • NIce tight playing! why 2 toggle switch?

  • @William102582 Coil tap

  • Cool playing man! What overdrive are you using?

  • @riskotibor80 It is just an old Line 6 POD 2.0

  • I hear michael schenker in there some where!!!

  • Very Steffen Schackinger sounding! nice playing mate

  • Awesome jam!

  • i noticed your guitar has two toogle swtiches...may i ask what they do. great playing btw

  • Awesome guitar and playing. I was curious, what size strings are you using...thanks!

  • @rollick3434 .010-.046

  • How long did it take you to be able to play as efficiently and cleanly as that? I have been playing for 5 years and could only dream of playing as well. Excellent vid man and lovely sound.

  • @geoboy333 Thanks so much . I've been playing for 30+ years and still practicing.

    Mike

  • @geoboy333 Practice with a metronome...and remember, it's better to practice 10-15 mins a day than it is to sit the guitar down for a week and then jam for several hours. It's also better to be slow and clean than fast and sloppy!

  • Now that is TONE!!

  • Nice funky chorus ! very beautifull es 335 sound !

  • take THAT GregsGuitars...

  • Nice man! :D

  • dude, that was fucking deadly, it blew my mind wide open man, great use of gain to fucking shred those lines man, sounded clean as shit dude! in a good way, haha

  • @aw350meman69 Thanks a lot Bro !!

  • @SIXSTRING63 no problem man, this truly a great performance man, keep it coming, you've earned a new subsciber

  • Came back a second time, just to make sure I knew what I was talking about when I posted my comment last week. And, yes, I do know what I am saying, I can't get enough of the way that guitar sounds.

  • sweet! nice playing. 10!

  • Comment removed

  • Brilliant guitar work, excellent riffs, clean deadly execution, perfect stacatto attacking, high impact delivery. You can thank Jeff Beck now, my friend. He has molded your core comprehension and expression philiosophy of what human hands can do on an electric guitar, in his distinct, unique manner.

  • @Targaxel Thanks Man ! that is a big compliment and I thank you so much. Now if I could play with my thumb and fingers like Jeff LOL

  • I liked of your sound! very nice! Congratulations!

  • what are your pickups??

  • @thiagoslashguns The bridge is a Duncan JB and the neck is aa Duncan Pearly Gates.

  • that really is a nice tone. great playing too. thats alot coming from me, I'm a complete asshole. Hard to believe thats a pod. Just goes to show, most of the tone is in your hands. as they say, it's the magician, not the wand. cheers!

  • thanks mike

  • awesome, i have a es 335 1982, what amp and pedals are you using for that great crunch sound? thanks wayne

  • It is just an old Line 6 POD 2.0 on the high gain patch that I tweaked to my liking.

    Mike

  • I really like this jam

  • Im looking at ordering but thats the colour i want but with a red maple pick protector thingo.... what colour is the body of this guitar?

  • It is a natural blonde maple top and body and a maple neck.

  • It was good, actually great but need to switch it up, move to another register. Nice job though

  • Dude, kick-ass!

BTW, cuz I'm curious, how much did that guitar cost in 1982 (or whenever you bought it)?

  • $600 used but it was pristine like new.

  • Sweet. If only Gibson had the brains to lower the prices on their guitars, then maybe I could own one. Gibson makes great stuff, but the people who run the company are marketing idiots, IMO.

    Anyway, thanks!

  • That is one gorgeous guitar! They just don't make 'em like that anymore. Very Carlton-ish & slick. Love the video.

  • great licks and fantastic sound!

  • add some really intense wah to the fast licks, and this would be superb... great job anyways though.

  • I like this funky blues. Jake

  • Thanks Jake.

    Mike

  • Great phrasing! Your playing oozes experience and your guitar sounds great. Just curious, what pickups did your '79 335 come with? Still have them on there?

  • Thanks Frank . I don't remember what the original PU models were. It now has a Duncan JB in the bridge and a Pearly Gates in the neck.

    Mike

  • thanks for playing

  • Thank You for listening!

    Mike

  • Very good! There go my *****

  • Thanks again.

    Mike

    Mike

  • 26 YEARS 26K VIEWS HAHA

  • far out man, nice stuff! I have a 335 still trying to work out what kind of tone I'd like to get out of it. This tone is very cool indeed + amasing playing too mate. Well done.

    Shane

  • Thanks a lot Shane. I enjoy your playing a lot too mate. Think I could get a playing gig in Australia ? I always wanted to go there.

    Mike

  • Dude, great! :]

  • Thanks a lot Mateusz for taking time to listen.

    Mike

  • better than the dot reissue :D

    Awesome

  • Thanks a lot .

    Mike

  • Superb Sound, Superb playing. I also have a blond 335 - yours really does special with those pickups and amp/effect combination. And your tasteful touch, phrasing, just so so good. Thanks! M

    Mike

  • The boy can play!thanks ...lil wobbly wade

  • Thanks a lot Wade. Mike

  • What's the second three switch for? Thank. Cool Playing.

  • The other is a coil tap switch on the lower horn.

  • Great playing!!!!

  • Thanks a lot. Mike

  • your fast!!!!! nice groove!

  • Thanks Bro. Not as fast as I used to be 20 years ago sorry to say but I can still do a quick riff now and then :) Mike

  • damn....he's just tearing it up!

    nice groove!

  • Thanks a lot. Mike

  • This is incredible! And I love that tone!

  • Thanks a lot Stratman . Mike

  • is one of the switches a pickup selector and the other a kill switch?

  • The other is a coil tap switch on the lower horn.

  • wow! 30 years! thats why you make playing guitar look so easy...and that es-335 is one of my favorite guitars, one of my friends told me that since the body is semi-hollow you cant have some certain types of effects because the sound will rebound on the inside and you'll have like a feedback or something like that. I think thats a lie.

hey mike, thanks for the information, take care and keep rocking hard bro!

  • Yes, that is a lie sort of. A 335 will feedback easier than a solid body but effects have no bearing on it , just volume. I've played mine through high gain Mesa Boogies and Marshall's without a hitch. Mike

  • Thats the case with early hollowbody guitars, but the thing that made the ES-335/345 etc series different is that it has a centre maple block which the humbuckers are mounted into. This massively reduced the feedback problem and basically made the guitar a solidbody/hollowbody hybrid.

Awesome guitars though - I love mine!

  • man, thats awesome, how many years have you been playing the guitar? hey and that sound is cool too, I was wondering if you mind telling me the effects you're using. Ive been playing the guitar for 3 years now but im still kindda noob in effects and licks man...

  • Thanks Neil, I've been playing for 30+ years. I'm just playing through an old Linr6 POD 2.0 with some delay and reverb on the modern high gain setting with a 4-12 cabinet emulator . Mike

  • You're one of the best players I've seen on Youtube.

Are you using the Line 6 POD on this too? Sick tone.....

  • Yes , just the old POD2.0 . Thanks for that nice comment. Mike

  • Thats excellent man, you got a nice style!

  • Thanks so much. Mike

  • Dude, not only is your tone good, but you have sum hot ass licks. death to stinkcock haters!!!!

  • Thanks Bro ! Mike

  • Sweetas man. Vintage tones are great but dont always fit the song youre playin. Like steve lukather said... " I like chocolate cake, but not at evey meal" Your tone here sounds quite "satchy" to me, but judging by your skill level, id say you have the tone thing sussed.

  • nice playin. keep these vids comin

  • Thanks for the nice comment. Mike

  • I disagree with the previous poster, Your G sound is unique to the Gibson ES and if the other poster doesn't realise this he's close minded and just doesn't have an appreciation for that sound. His opinion is good for him maybe but not all of us. Sounds fantastic, keep rockin the blues.

  • Thanks for that nice comment. I guess everybody has an opinion on tone. Sometime I think folks get hung up on this vintage tone thing but that does not always make it better. Mike

  • Nice playing but way too much overdrive, you might aswell be playing a 200 quid guitar! If you can hear the guitar then its not a good tone IMHO

  • Well ,for this particular tune I don't think it would have had the same feel with a squeaky clean type of tone.Plus it's just an old Line6 POD 2.0 that does not let much of the guitars natural tone come through no matter how you set it. Mike

  • Fair enough, I know what you mean, super playing none the less, all the best, James

  • holy FUCKING SHIT! How the HELL do you FUCKING do THAT!? thats Just so FUCKING AMAZING!and you made this yourslef?holy FUCK! keep it up dude! you kick some major FUCKING ASS!!!

  • Thanks a lot for the Kick Ass comment. Mike

  • @jtdangel10 Thanks a lot ! I don't know how I missed your comment.

  • @jtdangel10

lol chill bro you dont have to swear so much

  • beautiful guitar, dope playing, keep it up bro

  • Thanks

  • Man, I've tried all kinds of pedals, and none have come close to yours. Of course there are the obvious factors. your guitar, your amp and your playing add up to a great tone.Even boutique pedals that I own sound harsh compared your pedal. Does the tone hold when you crank your amp? And where can I get one? It's screaming with warm overdrive but it's not over the top. That's the tone I've have in my head. the holy grail that's it. Thanks for the info. Jam on.......

  • Thanks again. The POD is just a little recording preamp run directly to the camera with the speaker simulator on and not even running into an amp. Mike

  • Great playing, Awsome tone! Man, My guess is you are using the peamp on your amp. If that's a stomp box, what is it? keep on rocking!!!

  • Hey thanks for the great comment.Just playing through a 9 year old line 6 POD 2.0 with a patch I tweaked to my taste. Mike

  • nice men!!

you have talent for the guitar!

  • Thanks for that great comment. Mike

  • you've got some serious chops like! what pickups have you got in that?

  • Thanks for the great comment. The p.u's are a Duncan Pearly Gates in the bridge and a J.B. in the neck. Mike

  • I love this, you`re very hot man, cheers !

This is what i call a proffessionnal

  • Thanks a lot for that great comment. Mike

  • You're really good man! bravo!

    Cheers from Italy!

    davido

  • Thanks Davido for all the great comments. Mike

  • what gear you hook that devilish device into?

  • Actually just an old Line 6 POD 2.0 I bought about 9 years ago. Mike

  • dhen I blame your crazy guitar for that delightful sound... I'm currently working on taking a trip to states[I'm from Poland] for one of '60-'70 ES-335 +Bigsby+p-90...

  • Thanks so much for the nice comment. Mike

  • love what you do great feel and tone and course chops chops chops thanks so much

  • Thanks for the great comment Dad. Mike

  • Wow, i had no idea that them es-335s had such a clean sound with distortion.. makes wanna buy one, sound great man.

  • Thanks Willie,335's sound pretty good jacked up into the right amp and such. Just listen to what Ted Nugent does with a full hollow body, a 335 is only semi-hollow. Mike

  • It is a shame that Gibson hasn't got the Original pickups in, but you really captured the feel of the tune, and you play very "clean", very accurate. The years you've been playing really do show, awesome performance.

    Keep up the great work!

  • Thanks for the nice comment. Mike

  • Sensational tone and I love the accuracy and phrasing of your playing. Very tasteful! You're obviously a pro. Thanks for posting this. M

  • Thanks a lot for the great comment Marcus.

    Mike

  • Mike, thanks so much for posting this. A 79 335 was my first "serious" guitar and, unfortunately, I had to sell it 15 years ago due to major financial issues. I miss it and this brought back good memories. -Andrew

  • Thanks Andrew for stopping in for a listen. Mike

  • hell yeah !!!

  • Thanks man. Mike

  • Trop Fort ! xD Bravo =)

  • Thanks so much Tyler for that awesome comment.I actually played at a benefit yesterday with some local musicians for a fellow musician who passed away from breast cancer a few weeks ago.We raised over $2000 and donated it to Cancer research, there was some great jams and a good time was had by all. Mike

  • Means alot to get a reply from a person of your standed in music. Im very sorry to here about your friend. I think thats a great way to honor and show them your appreciation, for the friendship of a fellow musician. That $2000 will help a lot of people one day. I too have lost friends that way. Keep your amazing videos comeing my friend. I`ll be waiting :) maby you could upload one of you at a club ??? just a thought. Thanks again, also im glad you had a good time. -Tyler

  • Wow,sustain for days. What kind of pickups & processors are you using?

  • The pick-ups are Duncans ,a Pearly Gates in the bridge and a JB in the neck.I'm just playing into a 10 year old Line 6 POD 2.0 on the modern high gain setting tweaked in to my taste and the 4-12 cabinet simulator. Mike

  • wow

    i like your feel

  • Thanks Bro ! Mike

  • Very very nice-what a treat to stumble up this.Great tone there and superb playing.

  • Thanks so much for that great comment, most appreciated. Mike

  • Great playing mate. Thanks for that. Melbourne Australia.

  • Your welcome Mate ! I would love to come to your beautiful country down under and play guitar and enjoy the scenery , I think it is one of the most amazing places on Earth. Mike

  • Awesome tone!!! Anyway us pleebs could get a slower look at what you are doing? dumb question...what scale are you ....predominantly?

  • Basically a lot of Flat 5 Blues scale stuff and some Dominant 7 Arps and some Diminished riffs thrown in here and there. Mike

  • A-Hem....Please don't post anymore videos that are better than I am (like this one) thank You Very Much! Holy Horse manuvers Mike, You are gonna burn the skin right offa my face the way you smoke thing!! WOW! Dennis Dullea

  • Thats pretty funny Dennis! Thanks for having a listen and as far as me posting anything that is better than you I have got some work to do that Brother!!!! Mike

  • Nice job all the way round Mike. I played a 69 ES-340 until I wore out the fretboard. Went to a Yamaha SA-2000 for a while, and now I'm using a less expensive Ibanez Artstar AS-80. All of them have been great 335 style guitars. You can't beat a 335 for it's versatility except maybe for a tele.

  • Thanks again Bill. Mike

  • Looks like ES from The Meters

  • Thanks Jed , I don't know, I never saw it . Mike

  • Wow great playing :D

And awesome guitar as well! I really want one badly :p but I don't have the money.

Great skills and certainly worth a 5/5

  • Thanks a lot for the nic comment. Mike

  • Sweet...that tone is awesome....love the way it's almost feeding back into a fifth harmonic when you hold a note!

I'd love a 335....and hands that worked as well as yours!

  • Thanks for the nice comment,Yes it is kind of amazing about the feedback since I am only monitoring through headphones and playing into a Line6 POD. Mike
