  • "Drive-In movie shows"? Now that's nostalgia. A retired Catholic priest from Canada.

  • If that hairdo ever goes to auction, I'll liquidate my life savings to buy it.

  • Along about graduation time at any high school in america if you played this song there would not be a dry eye in the house. Male or female. So how about all you ass clowns shut it okay?

  • There it sets on top of my head its so big thats my hair

  • One of mac davis sons was named Scott (middle name) . I think we can pretty safely presume we know who the song was written for.

  • what a helmit head

  • This is the ANTHEM SONG for enjoying being a good DAD & FATHER / there is no greater joy than spending time with your children and treasuring the special moments watching them grow up. being thankful to GOD for the privilege

  • No offense to Bobby Goldsboro, but i love Mac Davis' own rendition of his song much better. This sounds way too heavy on orchestration and polish.

  • I always love this song.. When this came out my Scott was 4 years old and he also

had a teddy bear named Fred (after my dad that had just passed away)..Bobby

Goldsboro and Bob Montgomery had B&M records but it was written by Mac Davis.

I never knew if Mac had a Scott.. this song will always have a special place in my

heart for my little Scott and me..

  • This song sucks.

  • My dad loved this song--I had the same name and was the same age when the song came out. I remember my dad playing it on his radio in his 65 Pontiac Catalina.

  • studio version/record are almost always better..

  • This reminds me of the episode of the Simpsons where Bart and Homer build a robot for robot wars xD

  • Beautiful song . Thumbs up.

  • I better get closer to my 5 yr old..............coz the next day is never guaranteed

  • Sorry about the double post - browser refresh issues... Always liked this song. Glad others remember it.

  • @HandShock Actually singer/songwriter Mac Davis wrote both "Honey" and this song.

Mac Davis's son died first and he wrote this song, sang it then gave it to Bobby to sing also. He wrote "Honey" right after his wife died, but couldn't sing it becuse it was too painful. So he gave it to Bobby. Nevertheless Bobby sings both songs great and with such feeling. Thanks again for posting.

  • @Kitchensinkable Mac Davis did not write 'Honey' - Bobby Russell wrote it. Other hits Russll wrote are "The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia" and "Little Green Apples"

  • @mrsgstd i found that out after i posted. internet is full of misinformation. Wasn't Bobby Russel the husband of a famous actor or singer? anyways, great song. great to hear you enjoy this song also.thanks again for the input.

  • Mac Davis did not write "Honey" - Bobby Russell wrote "Honey" and he also wrote "Little Green Apples" and "The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia"

  • I'll bet alot of people don't know it, but Goldsboro wrote most of his hits, including this one.. No, he didn't write "Honey"

  • @HandShock Goldsboro did not write this. Mac Davis wrote it.

  • Great distraction and great vide0!! thank u downloadmusic .im

  • @marlenpleiss00 And if you weren't f---ing shallow you'd know music isn't about what someone looks like.

    Grow up a little.

  • One of his best songs ever!! I can't stop listening to this..Thanks for posting..

  • @zoggy1950 i love this version. you can hear the beautiful organ & violins. i wished this version was released.

  • Dude, nice hair

  • my name is scotty

  • just reading these comments brings to tears to my eyes

  • Wow, never knew so many peopel were named for this song. The song came ou a few years after I was born, so it was named after me :) I can recall listening to this with my dad at least once a day for a years after it came out. Thanks dad.

  • rleary1 You cannot get "clarification" yet you still post something like this? your post is based on an "if". total waste of time.

  • @girgir159 I did get clarification today. I hadn't made this up because they reported this on major network News years ago & I was watching. I found out today that they were 'accusations' made by his bit*% ex-wife during a messy divorce. My apologies to all & I have removed my post

  • Comment removed

  • @rleary1 Talk about ruining a song. Sheesh. It is a cute song. Why make it bad?

  • Comment removed

  • @MsLilRene I was incorrect and CBS/ABC/NBC had reported this years ago from accusations from an ex-wife during a divorce. That pretty much tells me it was complete BS. Sorry, & I've removed the earlier post

  • Real lovely !!

  • he is one of the best . wow what a beautiful voice.

  • What ever happened to Bobby Goldsboro? I remember these great songs of his when I was way little.

  • My son was name after this song 39 years ago. I love it. keep it on you tube, thanks Marty

  • WOW, when I was about 9 years old, I'm now 44, I used to sleep with my ear on the record player listening to this song over and over. Now, I am a singer songwriter..............Imagine that! Check my channel if you like :)

  • I was growing up without a Dad at all..while this song was playing on the radio.

No wonder Heavy Metal was so popular for my generation when we became old enough to realize what B.S. the song ment to us. "Enter Sandman"!!

  • I've always loved this song. It really reflects the joy and amazement of watching your kids grow up (and not just dads, either, lol) I knew Mac Davis wrote it, and I love Bobby Goldsboro's singing.

  • sounds to me like his boy is retarded

  • @markstoth Sounds like you are.

  • Great great song..I like this better than "Honey"..Another one of my favorites is "See the Funny Little Clown".

  • Wow... this was written for dads... Love it!

  • A great talent...This really is a nice song. Kinda sums up what we feel about our kids. Bobby is from my home state of Alabama...He has some nice songs.

  • @uscgccampbell lots of his songs are beautiful. a real quality guy. i hope to see him in concert if he ever comes to NEW YORK, NEW JERSEY, or the east coast. i have these vidoes on DVD. very enjoyable.****

  • From the glory days of am radio, as a kid loved this one.

  • Are those of you called Scottie sure you were named after this song and not after a brand of tissues?

  • @dimpledick3inch How is this song about depression and lonliness??? Oh...I see.. I bet you didnt' get any love from your mommy and daddy..now be a good little boy and get off the computer and go beddy bye it's way past your bed time, you got to get up early in the morning for your therapy session. Maybe this time doc will prescribe some drugs for you.

  • I was named after this song. :-)

  • Mac Davis actually wrote this song.... But I like Bobby Goldsboro's version the best...

  • @MKBaughan this tv version i like better.

  • Learn to be a dad from this. Thanks for the post

  • My Dad bought me this 45, I still have it.

My name is Scott and he said the lyrics matched me to a T.

I am truly LUCKY, I still have my father and this song always brings a tear to my eye.

    Thank you for the post.

  • Fathers today need to take the time to bond with their sons and daughters as well.

    Great song by Bobby.

  • Who on earth would call themselves dimpledick3inch,not exactly a great advert for themself.

  • Thanks for posting this. I have been looking for this song everywhere. I told my son, who is now 23, that I used to sing this to him every night...only I changed Scotty to Benny. Now I can let him hear this song without my mangling it.

  • Good memories. Good singing and arrangement.

  • Beautiful song--when I was a boy I never thought I would feel this way (never thought I would have a little boy)--thanks for posting.

  • i was 7 when this came out an i still love it

  • any parent, every dad that has a son, can truly appreciate this song. really says it all! great song and surprising someone knows that mac davis write this song lol. showing some age there!

  • why would u say anything like that? this song is from more than 40 years ago. i was poking fun, mostly at myself for knowing that. get a grip and watch your wrongful jumping to negativity. in person it could hurt you.

  • Comment removed

  • i didnt know mac davis wrote this song

  • yes he did, it was on his 1972 album " i believe in music " it is a truly great song about the love of your child, specifically a boy.

  • Thank you everyone for posting Bobby's music. He is wonderful.

  • I wonder how many people know that Mac Davis (Baby Don't Get Hooked On Me) wrote this song...

  • I did! Bobby Goldsboro is one of my favorites, and I think Mac Davis wrote some really sweet songs.

  • This song makes me laugh so hard because when my brother was little, we used to torment him by singing this song. He HATES being called Scotty.

  • great 70's ballad

  • nice song . creepy hairstyle

  • Welcome to the 70's......

  • great videography; great to see my favorites from so many years ago

  • I agree with Charlie. Guys like rustypenis insult another persons accomplishments, talents and memories and hide like a coward behind the word "opinon". So--rustygerkin-my "opinion" is that your an angry little man who has nothing better to do with your little life then share your Opinions. In the meantime I'll wait for rustypeepee to chart a top 40 song and make his make on the world.

  • Because this got you so upset and prompted such a response, you have totally made my day! I love it when people threaten violence against those that have opinions different from theirs. Yea, a real mature way to handle those differences. Oh, did I forget to mention the song still sucks one of the worst songs known to man. Grow up and learn to respect people's differences of opinion no matter how much they differ from yours - the comment was about the song not to those that like.

  • You are the type of jerk I would enjoy taking outside and smacking you around.

  • 33 years ago i named my son after this son what a great name me and god are watching him god bless all see you in hevan

  • oh God bless you

  • Many do not know that this particular song came out when it wasn't so "cool" to be having children, or "bragging" about them, or choosing to spend time in their company over being at some party with "real" people.

This song came out when having abortions was "the way to get rid of a problem," and so, again, this song of the preciousness of a child is especially heartwarming to me...my baby was eight months old and my peers thought I was "stupid" for having him.

  • This song came out in 1971, not the eighties...epic FAIL! ^_^

  • OK. It may be totally twee but I loved it then and I love it now

  • Next gold fish I buy I am naming him Scotty so I have reason to listen to this song.

  • "Thats ma Boy....." Too funny.

I laughed my ass off when this was on the Simpsons. Bart and homer built a go cart and this was the theme song.

  • My dad's name is Scott and this song came out when he was born

  • BLFRQ Spells Mom and Dad?

    How?

  • The kid was too young to read or write

  • Comment removed

  • When you have children you'll know.

  • I actually first heard this song sung by its composer Mac Davis (on an old Vinyl LP). Bobby sings it well, but I like Mac's version better to this day.

  • LOL actually, after listening to this version again.. I just noticed that Bobby changed it... Mac wrote the line "I'll sit here and drink a beer and listen to the radio, bide my time and watchin' Scotty grow...."

  • iIremember the Mac Davis show. I really enjoyed it. and I think I like his better too. But this one is good too.

  • Does anyone know if Bobby does shows in the Ny area? This song is great, is reminds me of the airforce when I was stationed in Cape Cod in the 60's

  • I'm sorry rocker4life54, that sucks. This song was actually written by Mac Davis (remember him?) for his son, Scotty. Ironic it should be a huge hit for Bobby, as they were both on top at the same time. Love this song.

  • I'll stay here with my little dog near, we'll listen to the radio...................Old sleepy head, thats my dog, gotta have a sip of water and a nice warm bed, her fuzzy toy named Fred, thats my dog....

  • What a beautiful song..id never heard this one before...wow...i have so much to discover ...

  • Heard this for the first time flying a plane from Chicago to Cleveland in 1979. Named my son Scott because of that song. He's 24 now and still growing! Thanks Bobby!

  • i used to sing this song to my son when he was little, he's passed now so it brings a tear to my eyes

  • with this song I named my own son Scott, I often sang it to him, Now my scotty has 5 boys of his own and I am back to listening to this , while My Scotty watches his own grow.

  • A wonderful song; filled w/lot's of memories to go along w/it !!!! AWESOME !!!

  • I go back to the 23rd Setember 1988 this song was being played on the radio (2MMM) sydney australia when my son SCOTT was comming into this world

  • This is the only song I know that truly expresses how very precious our little children are...and a father's tender love for his little son.

I first heard it when my own little son was a year old and it brought tears to my eyes that someone else loved their child as I loved mine. Now it's 37 years later and hearing it stills brings tears to my eyes.

  • Bobby always sang wonderful themes, unforgettable.

  • R.I.P. Uncle Scotty I love and miss you very much!

  • Precious and wonderful song. Can't get over how I've forgotten how awesome Bobby Goldsboro was. He sings the on the soundtrack of my childhood. Ahh... I can get lost in his voice....

  • This song really hits home for my dad and grandfather because my uncle Scotty passed away when he was twelve from a brain annerism, everytime I hear this song I can't help but cry like a little baby!!!!

  • My condolences. My name is Scott too, and my dad sang this to me. I still lean on my dad a lot tho Im in middle age. Hes an amazing man, and this song reminds me of those days when nothing mattered, but "dad, can I have some candy, or baseball cards or ice cream". Man, it sucks getting old sometimes..

  • IS HIM STILL HERE

  • my dad use to sing me this song as i was growing up since my name is scott he use to love and watch me grow and sing this song he sumtimes still sings it to me

  • Really enjoyed this song growing up. Reminder of hot indiana summers with the smell of wild flowers. Funny how music does thst to you.

  • lol
