Dogs Coming to a Whistle

Hi. I wish to know that when I am out jogging and strange dogs are about to attack me, will blowing a regular or dog whistle will stop them from attacking me when I blow it?  Will you please reply to this?

@1inspire I think dogs have to be trained to use a whistle, though I'm not sure.
