SUMO is an awesome sport.....!!!!! These are some of the best athletes in the world...!!! Id like to any of you faggots talk shit about their culture around them....ha ha
@Tamerplane Why do you need numbers when you can see most of these guys, for their size, are in excellent physical condition and are in no way obese or out of shape?
"Sumo wrestlers are physiologically different from the average obese Joe in two ways. First, their weight is made of mostly muscle instead of fat. Musashimaru’s body fat percentage at his heaviest, for instance, was around 20%. Compare that to the typical 500-pound man with a 70” waist (if, indeed, one can fathom a “typical” man of this enormity), whose body fat is about 35% of his weight."

Don't be ridiculous, of course they are medically fat, nobody can be 180cm tall and 160kg without being 'fat', it is impossible.
Of course rikishi are incredibly strong, and can be explosively fast, but you really are on a different planet if you think they are 'not fat in the medical sense'.
well he also thinks that this song sounds like anything other than generic metal with a dude throwing up into a mic. either way cool vid with the sound off
You can tell that a few of them have some judo background in the way they move and throw. In the beginning of the vid, one of them uses a foot sweep and in the middle and toward the end, some uchimata style attacks are employed.
great vid! yeah, in middle school they called me yokozuna, after the US wrestler, i found later it was the title of the top sumo in japan so now that nickname doesnt sting as much anymore...
yeah, in japan it would be an honor as all the wrestlers strive for it but very few attain it. Check my earlier vid out on what happens when a yokozuna loses.
they don't eat bad food. They eat huge servings of chanko nabe - a soup with a lot of protein which while fattening isn't like getting fat on Cokes and Big Macs.

Very Awesome video!! People who don't understand sumo are ignorant, it's one of the grandest sports in the world.

Well I figured they had a different type of "Muscle" structure than most sports would be.
BobSpotOn 1 year ago
they need alot of muscles to push back their opponent or even lift them up, the fat just help them keeping their feets on the ground ;)

you obviously didn't watch the video or have ever been to a sumo match. They are not fat or slow.
RoninDave 2 years ago
What do you mean they are not fat?
Tamerplane 2 years ago
they are not fat in the medical sense - the ratio of body fat compared with muscles.
RoninDave 2 years ago
You got numbers and sources?
Tamerplane 2 years ago
1) why do you care?
2) pick up any book on sumo
RoninDave 2 years ago
1) Because I think they are fat, but I'm inclined to change my position on the basis of actual data.
2) No I won't do the research when I'm not the one with a point to prove. Thanks for failing to support your claim.

Another reason why most of them dont become older than 40 yo!!
babywilla 4 years ago
actually that's not true. many live to be in their sixities and seventies and even older. After retirement many of them slim down considerably.
RoninDave 3 years ago
Yes for exemple the Yokozuna Takanohana lost almost 80 kg after is retirement. It's very impressive to see him now.
Why they lost a lot of wheigh? It's because they eat bad food during there career and when they stop to eat a lot they automaticly lost wheigh.
