I learned this song, sometimes called St. Patrick's Breastplate, to this melody. I have searched for this version. Some times you find this with another melody, but this is the best, in my heart. One of my favorite choir directors said he had learned the song to this melody, but it was very hard to find the melody in written form. I love this song.

It really means to ask God to be your eyes...that you look at everything through God's eyes.

I think it means "be you my vision" and by "you", God is meant. That means have God and his life in front of you, first of all.
