Someone please tell me "What makes a parent even consider getting a pit bull for a family pet". If I was going to pick a dog for a pet. Look at the statistics. Pitbulls are 5% of the dog population and they make up OVER 50% PERCENT OF DOG BITES AND KILLS. You're brainwashed into thinking that it's the owner's fault. It's genetics. Look up how genetics plays a roll in serial murders, same goes for pitbulls. They are bred for severe aggression, and no amount of training can completely get rid of that. I'm not saying that a pit can't be a great dog .. but as a general rule, the breed is dangerous.

I've been skeptical of news reports like this since I saw news reports which identified completely unrelated species as "pit bulls," because reporters seem to think that all dogs that bite MUST be "pit bulls." I've seen new stories with obvious dobermans, rottweilers etc identified as "pit bulls." Looking at the body language of the dog shows fear and shame it probably got hit or yelled at regularly by the owner or someone else. If you raise a chiwawa and it becomes aggressive the most I can physically do is rip off a finger. If you raise a Pit bull or Rottweiler improperly it can rip off your arm.

Look at the statistics. Pitbulls are 5% of the dog population and they make up OVER 50% PERCENT OF DOG BITES AND KILLS. You're brainwashed into thinking that it's the owner's fault. It's genetics. I've been skeptical of news reports like this since I saw news reports which identified completely unrelated species as "pit bulls," because reporters seem to think that all dogs that bite MUST be "pit bulls." I've seen new stories with obvious dobermans, rottweilers etc identified as "pit bulls." According to CDC records, the risk of severe injury is directly related to the size of the dog, not the breed. 30 years ago people wanted to ban German Shepherds for being inherently vicious. Dumb.

People are getting attacked by pitbulls because they are not pure breds. All dogs should wear muzzles in public. Pure bred pitbulls do not attack their owners unless they are being abused. The breed has been screwed around with because of these idiots who use them for dog fighting. Looking at the body language of the dog shows fear and shame it probably got hit or yelled at regularly by the owner or someone else. If you raise a chiwawa and it becomes aggressive the most I can physically do is rip off a finger. If you raise a Pit bull or Rottweiler improperly it can rip off your arm.

People just don't understand pit bulls. I think it should be mandatory for all citizens of the USA to take a course in understanding the breed.True,hospitals,drs. and funeral directers would lose work but this would balance by creating jobs;teachers ,officials for licensing and others by all the government red tape. We could triple the size of our police depts.to enforce ect. We must learn to understand these animals. We need them desperately for dog shows. And their other vital contributions.

I've seen Pit Bulls that never stop licking you, some of the most loving dogs. I've also seen miniature pinchers that tear your feet up if you walk around bare-foot. Pit Bulls are built to be killers that's why they are so devastating if one is not raised right.

Dogs dont just attack at random, the kid was not just sitting there, the kid MUST have done something to piss it off. I hope she did not say "get rid of the dogs!" at the end there or i wont feel bad for her. Not all dogs are bad you know, and when a dog gets angry it will snap at you or bite you but it does not know it will KILL the child!

And most definitely did not know enough to see the warnings signs ahead of time. A dog will show signs of potential attack with growling, turning up his lip etc...and at that time proper training with a professional who knows dog behavior is the only answer if the owner is as incompetent as this one.

If you have a strong breed of dog you must socialize and train it early, of course you do know.
