I listend to this album when nobody else did.. Ten years later in the year 82. MTV was haten it did not play 60s 70s hard rock, rarely not this anyways, They played shit that didnt last years later in future, MTV thought they played not knowing the future days gone past
soon i discovered this rock thing was true, jesus was the fisherman or maybe a carpenter or some shit, im not sure so i ramalong longed my old school metal and just stayed in bed hahahahahahaahahahahaahahahaha
k, this is bad-ass - i fully believe in the mighty healing power of deep purple's ferocious, balls out rock, BUT (and i know i'm gonna take much shit for this) i reeeeeeeaaaaaaalllly wish john lord hadn't run his organ through a marshall stack AND a leslie; a lot of the magic of the leslie is washed out. he coulda run four leslies if he wanted to and it would have CRUSHED with the natural grinding distortion they provide.
i'm nit picking here and history clearly gives me the finger, but...
@1bigcok The main riff of 'Lazy' is inspired by Eric Clapton. For another example the Mandrake root is totally 'Foxy lady' by Jimi Hendrix. Ritchie Blackmore was genious in covering different songs and turns them into his own style!
Definitely THE most talented hard rock band of all time. The secret is that these fellows were influenced by jazz, blues, classical, baroque and God knows what else, while every band since the mid-70"s has mainly been influenced by the final product(s)......such as the Legendary Deep Purple. Thanks for the upload themule66
Deep Purple is one of the greatest bands of all time. It's really sad that most people only know them for stuff like "Smoke On The Water" and "Woman From Tokyo". Those are good songs, but it's the stuff you don't hear on the radio that's the best!! (you might hear this song on the radio once in a great while, but you know what I mean)
Which is probably why no-one today sounds that good. 60's and early 70's bands had huge backline amplification because the PA was vocals only. For sure, they all went deaf, but you don't get that sound nowadays; a pity, it was a great sound. We won't hear its like again.
@graham62k lol i spent 10 minutes trying to find the comment u replied to but couldnt, so ill take your word and also agree with you, we need more bands playing 8x10s and stuff :D
Este video aun y en blanco y negro es una REAL JOYA..... Atrapar en este momento, en este concierto a Deep Purple fue historico.... de las 5 mejores bandas de todos los tiempos... y tal vez el mejor guitarrista (Blackmore)
deep purple, along with all of the other greats not in the rock n roll hall of fame are too good to be in it. let the hall of fame have their shitty one hit wonder pop bands and sell outs like metallica. it would be an insult to dp if they were in the hall of fame with those shitty music. i hope dp never gets in, because they are too good of a band
Shit hot. When bands were creative with the music, thier sound and the presentation. No relying on gimmicks and crap to sell...they don't make 'em like they used to.
love it! Saw the band live in Christchurch in early 1976: brilliant, but not the same without Ritchie Blackmore. Guess I listened to the albums too much! Thanks for a great blast from the past!
Thanks so much for posting this. I played Machine Head to death in the 70s, along with offerings from Hendrix, Grand Funk, Santana, Sabbath, Zep, etc. However, this live version of "Lazy" is absolutely astonishing. Gillan's vocals are smoking, and all of the band members were so locked into the groove in that way where it seems like there's an extra player - Pan or whoever!! It's so cool to see how relaxed Blackmore's hands are even when he's playing the fiercest stuff. What a treat.
Deep Purple out rocks Led Zeppelin, so why don't they play Deep Purple more often than Dead Zeppelin on those piece-of-shit so-called "classic rock" radio stations?!
@jeffreygaudreault both bands are great, its just the classic rock stations suck. Don't hate zep because they get played more, hate the radio stations.
@jeffreygaudreault dude i love led zeppelin and deep purple lets not fight over this music of the same era and genre should live together in harmony and fight the evils of modern day rap/pop
In 1972 Deep Purple were in the Guiness book of world records for being the loudest group in the world..........At a concert at the London Rainbow theatre.......Three of the audience were rendered unconscious..................Wikipedia.
Copenhagen in March 1972. Deep Purple did two shows with one week between both concerts. Luckily Danish Radio found tapes with this show in their archive. It's a band with stunning energy and desire to play. Richie is phenomenal in Lazy.
@jablair51 i guess they try their darnest not to induct bands that have had lots of lineups. The facto that blackmore probabl wouldnt go also has something to do with it im sure. but yeah, how the fuck aren they there yet xd
seems like Ian doesn't know (or didn't know at the time) how to hold a harmonica to the mic. you can barely hear it. hes suppose to wrap his hands around the mic with the harp
Purple headlined the very first rock concert I ever saw, waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in 1973, with the JGeils Band in the warm-up slot. The opening act that day was a band called Elf, with some little lead singer named Ronnie James Dio; maybe you've heard of him. Gillan and Dio and the Mighty Deep Purple for my first show. Hello metalheads.
Instead of a Metal rebellion i propose a new plan.
1. Don't bash other metal artists, we must unite! We cant fight against pop music if we arent even together
2. Watch more and more metal videos to get it to the top of the youtube vid list
If you like this idea, thumbs it up JUST so people can see it, and also spread it around if you like this idea
Lets show that metal kicks ass!
Copy this text in every Metalvideo you watch
