I feel really sorry for Hyacinth. I mean, it really isn't her fault she's like this. She's just ashamed of her family, and while trying to differenciate herself from them, she became this, this, Hyacinth.

It's not like I'm not happy for Richard, and his finally getting his own back at Hyacinth, but we should also think of Hyacinth as a human who is trying to be unique, and not as in 'unique' like her family.

She can really bring out the innate psychologist in some people.

@cigwe11 I think she's the most like Rose in some ways--she needs to make excitement in her life, not like Violet who'd be thrilled with Richard, or Daisy who's pretty content with Onslow. Rose and Hyacinth maybe take after Daddy if Daddy really was a war hero and Hyacinth wishes there was some opportunity for her to shine...but she's unable to imagine doing it other than as the most conventional pillar of society, a contradiction in terms.
