Glass didn't just spring out of nowhere, alone! He was part of the "pre-minimalist" and then "minimalist" movements which began in the early 60s w/ La MonteYoung. My two favorite new music composers/ musicians of that batch are Steve Reich and Terry Reilly - work worth investigating.
The two artists above have experimented on a much broader range w/ sound than Glass, though in fairness they are older. I highly recommend the timeless, new music classic LP Trerry Riley recorded in 1963, "In C."
This sounds like something out of my nightmares. I know Philip Glass is very talented and everything but this is just 20 minutes of repetitive organ chords and a man and a woman repeating the same words.
This is my favorite piece from Einstein on the Beach. I respectfully disagree with @MuzikJunkyAES. I find the Nonesuch recording from 1993 to be more to my liking than the Sony 1978 recording. If you do purchase or own the 1978 recording, you should absolutely listen to the 1993 recording of Knee 5. I am not sure if the extended ending existed and was cut from the 1978 recording or if it was added later. Either way, I find it does add a lot.
@TechniCT The 1979 recording was cut significantly because it was originally recorded for the LP format. The 1993 recording is the first complete recording of the whole thing and is completely uncut. The irony is that the shorter recording is more expensive because it's on 4 CDs, while the longer recording is 3 CDs. Peace.

is the vocals just numbers or is some of it latin?

The 1993 recording might be longer than the 1979 recording, but the latter SOUNDS better. Peace.

@nul89 I found it on the Internet, so I don't have much information about the song.
myworldonyou 11 months ago
@myworldonyou This was taken from his opera "Einstein on the Beach". It's a little extended.

What an amazing musical journey, one that seems to transport you through time, through space, and through the complex inner workings of our brain.

Anyone have a lyrics sheet to this?

@DRIVERX51 If you hear it carefully, they just say the notes (la-si-do-si-la-si-do-si.... or.... la-fa-la-si-do-si... etc) I hope you understand me.
