  • masterpiece... Bartoli is very good and I don't mind the over-romantic articulation of the orchestra for such a piece...thank you for uploading

  • hermosísimo....cuán genial es esta mujer!!!!!!!!!!!

  • My heart melts at 217. Beautiful.

  • its always odd to hear wellnown passages in other concertos^^ "hey, i didnt knew there wos singing in the winter concerto?!?"

  • Bravooooo!!!!!

  • BEAUTFUL.

  • "I feel my blood like ice / Coursing through every vein / The shade of my lifeless son / Afflicts me with terror / And to make my agony worse / I see that I was cruel / To an innocent soul / To my heart's beloved."

  • viva Vivaldi viva Cecilia!!!!!!!!!!

  • Forever Cecilia; Forever Vivaldi

One cannot ask for a more cosmic, a more intense, and deeper aria and performance both by Cecilia and the ensemble.

Bartoli will go down in history as the best interpreter of Vivaldi and Rossini works that anyone --anyone--could ever deliver in history of history.

  • does anybody know where i can get the original text, the words she is singing? i would be so grateful...

  • wow! look is face at 5.30 she wanna cry....

Everything in this video is so emotional :the story tell the feeling of a father in front of the tomb of his son, music dramatic and intense, and stunning interpretation of Cecilia. Truly moving and beatiful!

  • Well, surprisingly this is really beautiful sung :).

  • Incredibly beautiful aria incredibly sung. I wish Bartoli had devoted herself into reviving exactly this kind of rare music instead of the coloratura halabaluba she usually sings.

    Extreme beauty

  • @LohengrinT I couldn't agree more. This was ghe Great Bartoli. Now she's just someone who sings, as you say, coloratura halabaluba...and sings it with extremely guly technique. I wish I knew what happened to her.

  • @tamerlano236

"halabaluba" is a term Callas uses in one of her interviews to describe the over-use of coloratura ornaments by coloratura experts who disregard the meaning and beauty of Music.

Bartoli is still there - she just got trapped in her Ambition of the Virtuoso Singer and forgot that the Music begins and ends in the Heart.

Coloratura without a great aria to back it up is plain circus. Coloratura is what the Composers thought it was: an Ornament to the aria not the aria itself

  • @LohengrinT The term desinitely applies to what Bartoli is doing now. The ugly technique she is using now is so sad, considering what she once was. As you say, she needs to stop with the circus and use coloratura as an ornament to the aria. than kyou for responding to me.

  • @LohengrinT Thank you for your insightful coments. I, like tamerlano236, had been dismayed over what Bartoli has allowed to happen to her voice. I hope that someday soon she will wake up to what she is doing and get back on track.

  • Les larmes me montent aux yeux...

  • The song is about a father visiting his dead son's grave whilst filled with regret for how harshly he treated him when he was alive.

  • This is untouchable and Il Giardino Armonico ensemble is impeccable. Entire cd is extremely listenable. Best song of the collection.

  • como lo van a cortar ahi asesinos!

  • ME ENCANTA, ME HACE SUFRIR! PERO HERMOSAMENTE...QUE BELLA VOZ! :D...QUE MARAVILLOSA TÉCNICA VOVAL, QUE INTERPRETACIÓN, QUE PRESENCIA!....ERES A QUIEN MÁS ADMIRO!...PIDO A DIOS LA OPORTUNIDAD DE CONOCERTE Y APRENDER DE TI EN PERSONA :D

  • Perfect!

  • che bellezza, musica pura, puro sentimento

  • Amazing!

  • Grande Cecilia Bartoli

  • Beautiful!! I love Vivaldi and Cecilia its a DIVA!!

  • Fantastic! Magnicant.

  • Gelido in ogni vena

    scoter mi sento il sangue;

    lombra del figlio esangue

    mingombra di terror.

    Mamma mia!!!!

Se te ponen lospelos de punta

  • i usually hate her for the circus clown expressions and over-the-top slow singing, but this time even i have to admitt it's a rich, clever interpetation

  • Divine.

Grazie

  • BRAVA BRAVA and BRAVA

  • no words....bravissimo!

  • omg i nearly cried just now just so sad and her face shows it all

  • Vivaldi for ever!!! It made me cry.

Geniales ambos

  • muuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuy cierto!!!

  • does anyone know where i can find the sheet music for this i have been looking evertwhere and cant find it....

  • This is among the most sad songs I have ever heard and her performance of it here is the very best I have seen and heard. She can't even get out of the emotion of the song after it is over.

  • I can't describe what I hear!

  • this is such a sad song, and she puts sooo much emotion into it, but still manages to never let that affect her singing! Brava

  • wow thank u so much for putting words up ive been trying to find them everywhere do u know where i can find the english translation at

  • For those of you who don't speak Italian: I feel my blood like ice coursing through every vein The shade of my lifeless son, The shade of my lifeless son afflicts me with terror and to make my agony worse I see that I was cruel to an innocent soul to my hearts beloved... :D - maybe :( would be more appropriate!
  • do u know where i could find score for this ive been looking everywhere

  • I don't know if there is it there, but at IMSLP WEBSITE you can find a lot of music sheets...maybe it could be there...

  • perfection!!!

  • I heard this piece once performed by her and only accompanied by lute. That's when she stole my hart. She lifted Vivaldi's work to a higher level.

  • The BEST !!!!!

  • This aria sung by Bartoli always puts me on the verge of tears... It is one of the first recordings with which I initiate friends who are curious about, but not well acquainted with Baroque music...

    5 stars... if I could give 15 I would!!!!

  • Unbearably beautiful. A tour de force. Thank you Cecilia. You tear my heart out whenever I listen to you sing this aria.

  • I'm sorry but this song is the recording and performance of the century so far. I listen to The Vivaldi Album often and never tire of it.

  • @Carmendun so do i

  • Beautiful singing. But why couldn't the video have been cut off a couple of seconds later, so that the cadence could resolve properly?????

  • there is a part two to this

  • Wonderfull interpretation! Cecilia is the greatest opera singer!!!! Bravo!!! Magnifique!!
