Small changes or mutations in the copying of DNA from one individual to another, may have potential benifits for that particular organism depending on it's environment. If the change is beneficial to it's survival, then the mutations will be passed on to future generations. Over long periods of time, this is how evolution works.

Without having DNA to test, they may well be completely different species even though they look similar. There are thousands of other vegans who are as old as her but don't look like her. Why is that? Because it's not being a vegan. It's her genetics.

@uberschelsse It's probably a combination of both. Vegan's (and vegetarians and really, anyone who takes their diet seriously), by necessity, have to pay close attention to what they eat. Those who are conscientious of what they eat will live longer, live healthier and probably look better. Those who have the genes to enhance those traits will live EVEN longer.
