I love these cartoons:Oggy And The Cockroaches,The Pink Panther, the old classic Tom And Jerry but Woody Woodpecker is by far the best cartoon above all of them.
Watching Woody Woodpecker is hell better than watching the crappy WWE's today pg shit.Thanx Woody we wish you're on tv everyday ;)
when woody siphoned gas out of the car at 2:13 to 2:17, it reminded me of the scene in "lethal weapon 3" when mel gibson siphoned gas out of a car and got it in his mouth and said "ack! pooey! exxon!"
Stupid cop! Yeah I think we'll be back at rationing gas if we don't do something, but that's what the government would want control of where you drive. Just look at all the Wasted money on public transportation.
Released in July 26,1943 Woody's appearance would get a complete makeover, making Ration Bored the last Woody Woodpecker film featuring the original manic design
It observes the Face of the Woody Woodpecker when it finishes to read the plate and looks at pra who is attending, observes well, but if he does not scare
Technically it is--this picture was dated 1943, a good four years previous.
Appropriate that Woody dies at the end; this would be the last appearance of this version. "The Barber of Seville". released a year later, was the first of Woody's new "cuter" designs--white chest and gloves, non-banded legs, swooped topknot, no overbite.
Woody would also use a villain as a car chassis with Buzz Buzzard later in "Wet Blanket Policy".
This was originally released in July 1943, and was a friendly warning to those who had any ideas on using more than their three gallon a week allotment {"A" stickers on a windshield attested to that gasoline ration, as Bugs Bunny pointed out later that year in "Falling Hare"}. And don't forget- buy YOUR War Bonds at the box office when you leave this theater!
@GundamBlueDestiny The "Is this trip REALLY necessary?" gag has been used in several cartoons produced and released during WWII. It was a spoof of one of many propaganda messages aimed at civilians during the war, convincing them to do "their part". Fears of fuel shortages for military vehicles fueled (geddit?) such actions as convincing people to take shorter, combined trips, gas rationing (the "A" card joke shown on this cartoon, and in Bugs Bunny's "Falling Hare"), and other measures.
Man, I think the best cartoons are the ones that came out during WWII. Especially the ones, (Like this one,) that poke fun at rationing, or that one Merrie Melodys cartoon where they did the fairy tales, and the goose who laid golden eggs laid Aluminum eggs for the war effort.
This practice was also used as recently as 1978/1979 when there was an oil embargo and gas went up to 50 cents a gallon or more (a lot back then). A lot of cars started to come with locking gas caps that could only be opened with a key. This practice is even going on in some cities today with the current rise in gas prices.

"A is for Apple, as used in a pie, B is for Butter, but it's hard to buy, C is for Cuff, which you can put the gas on, bud!"
Dated, but still the wise-ass Woody I've grown up with. Funny as hell.

@HaggisMcCrablice Woody uses Buzz Buzzard as a car chassis in "Hot Rod Huckster", and not "Wet Blanket Policy".
It is also worth noting that this is a transitional Woody, somewhere between Alex Lovy's crazy, manic woodpecker and Culhane's streamlined woodpecker.

Word on the "necessary evil" line. That was brilliant.
I also liked how the gas attendant dealt with Woody by croqueting his car over the hill with a mallet.

"Sure, it's necessary.... I'M a necessary evil!" ...Riot!
