  • whats so dominican about this? u just blowdryin yo hair thats all.. whats the difference or whats so special about the dominican blowouts.,

  • idk why people get a blowdry & flat iron together & think that the blowout is more damaging...

  • i'm considering having these blowouts , instead of straightening with a flat iron . do you think thats a good idea ?

  • How often do you do this? and is the blow dryer damaging at all to the roots? is it damaging to the roots to do this weekly?

  • @blackberry815 - I do it every other week, sometimes even less.

Like any heat that you apply to your hair, it can be damaging. However, I find that it's less damaging that using a flat-iron, or curling iron on the hair.

  • hey can u give a total instruction video (step by step plz !!!!!) on how to do this ???? haha and what products did u use ? and do u have a relaxer ?????? lol just wondering.... (; btw love the hair !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! im trying to grow mys out..... lol lets see how this goes because my hair seems to grow painfully slow !!!! but i want it wayyyyyy.............. down my back !!!! lol so please make a video !!! im sure other people will appreciate it also ! thanx ! (;

  • @earthlisegrl09 - You know, so many people have asked for a full video. I had to do a separate video for putting in rolos. I have to try to do another video, but will have to get someone to help with the editing.

I do have a relaxer now, but I relax only when I need it. I usually put one in just before summer, so try to tame the frizzies.

If your hair is slow growing, be sure to get your ends clipped. This will reduce the breakage and keep your length.

  • is that kelis?

  • just wondering.....would this type of tension on the hair cause breakage???

  • @bayouprincess02 - I can cause tension, especially if you pull all the way down the hair shaft. That's why I only blow out my roots AND I don't really pull my hair. I just use the brush to prevent burning my hand with the blower.

That's also another reason I do my own hair. Most stylists have a tendency to PULL the hair, which can lead to breakage.

  • @bayouprincess02 are you kidding? Go around to all the Dominican shops and look at the people who do that. I spent the summer in DR. It was INSANE how many of those shops are on every corner. Most DR women also perm their hair. They are more obsessed with straight hair than American blacks. There were brush barrels EVERYWHERE and they were always full of someone's hair. It's pretty bad. I am not trying to tell you what to do, but TREAD LIGHTLY my friend.

  • u have beautiful hair...thanks for the tips all this time i decided to go natural and i am just finding out all i had to do is come to you tube...lmao..thanks for the tips!!

  • your hair is beautiful

  • @valerielovesvideos11 - Gracias!!

  • No Salerm spray on the roots?!?!

I always find that a little spritz of leave-in moisturizer helps a bit ;)

  • @BadJamJam06 - No amiga. I don't put anything on my hair until I'm done blowing it out. However, I have seen stylists use the spray on the roots.

  • love it:)

  • @CaligirlSofia - Thank you amiga!

  • good job

  • @bonifyjamaican - Gracias :)

  • @ZachEJT24 - Gracias bella :)

  • uhm actually your hair does look pretty bad...at the dominican salon they usee the metal spiral brush which actually gives better resultss && why didnt you do all the way to your ends...?

  • @gibabybay407 - At "the dominican salon?" You've been to one stylist that uses a metal barrel and have determined that's the only way to do it? Um...NO!

My results are always the same. A fresh blowout leaves my hair fuller and bouncier, but my hair comes out super straight the day after I take down my dubi. I don't need to blow my hair all the way to ends. My goal is to smooth out my roots with the blower; the length of my hair is always straightened from the wrap.

    Less heat, healthier hair.

  • Your hair is very pretty.. what product do you use?

  • @christyluve72 - Thank you :) I use CHI Silk Infusion mixed with Paul Mitchell Super Skinny

  • @lej33 - I'm willing to take advice from anyone, but never someone hurling insults. Besides, you clearly know zilch about brushes; the brush I use is a "better brush."

  • its funny how some people dont know about this. us dominicans have been doing this for years. glad others can see how we do it.

  • @cubanaestrella - Claro q si!

  • Your hair is gorgeous! It looks healthy, too. Ignore the haters.

  • @natrlchallenge - Gracias y besos, guapa :)

  • what blow dryer do you use?

  • @giggles954 - I use a Turbo 1500 made by Pibbs

  • You beautiful ladies are really destroying your hair. Heat and flat ironing really take essential oils out your hair which cause breakage and hair loss.

  • @justbu11 - I personally believe in moderation. Too much of anything can be negative :)

  • @dominicanblowout -Thanks for the response, but please explain to me how wearing your hair naturally can be negative :)

  • @justbu11 - Ah...sorry...It's just a figure of speech to say that "too much of anything is a negative." I was thinking more along the lines of: too much heat, using too much of the wrong product.

  • @dominicanblowout - Agreed. Is this you in the demonstration?

  • @justbu11 - Yes, that's me.

  • great video girl...I am dominican also and I been doing this technique for years ...the only thing I am not as good as u with the blower...keep up the videos, I am going to try to put the blower the way u do, I have rollers in my head right now

  • @bellabrg - Gracias mamita! It doesn't matter how you hold your brush or blower. Remember, you're doing your own hair; holding the brush, blower, putting in rolos may be different than how you would do the same on someone else's head. Me entiendes?

  • @dominicanblowout yes chica I do...thank u I tried it your way and my hair looks great. please keep making videos...chaito : )

  • @bellabrg - Glad it worked! Mil besos :)

  • i have this done on my very kinky hair from wet to dry (no rollerset) and it comes out as straight as your hair. so... get the facts straight. esp if ur doin these vids...

  • @TheBellaNaturale - If you're doing a blowout with NO ROLLERSET then you are NOT doing a "Dominican" blowout. You're just blowing out your hair. So, perhaps YOU need to get the facts straight.

  • @dominicanblowout either way (since i've done both, but skipping the roller part eliminates some heat and keeps my hair from being dried out, FYI KINKY LADIES), the technique you show in this video is a blowout, with a brush and blower correct? I'm just saying you should not be saying that only certain hair types can use this method because that is INCORRECT information. I do it and it works amazingly. Maybe you cannot manage but a competant stylist, or even myself who isn't a stylist, can.

  • @TheBellaNaturale - Again, if you are skipping the rollerset, not doing a DOMINICAN BLOWOUT. Now, if you think that you are applying less heat, by blowing your hair while it's wet, it shows just how incompetent YOU are.

Anyway...no hard feelings, wish you and your hair the happiest 4th of July.

  • @dominicanblowout there is such a thing as towel drying and slight air drying. And again, you are not reinforcing your claims that kinky girls cannot benefit from this technique. Ladies, all textures can do this. That is all.

  • @TheBellaNaturale - Yes, you can towel dry; you can air dry, but regardless, if you blow your hair from root to ends, you are putting a lot of stress on your hair. Let's face it, straightening hair comes at a price. Even non-kinky hair suffers from heat damage.

Yes, all textures CAN use a blower to achieve straightness, BUT it typically means using more heat and most stylists (even dominicanas) don't readily admit this. Ultimately, the goal is to maintain healthy hair. No?

  • i have a question

how long does a dominican blow2-out last. ?

and what can you do to make it last longer. ?

  • @xniiinaaaa - mine lasts a couple of weeks, providing it's not too humid. I know a girl who makes her last for 3 or 4 weeks, but I sweat too much for that. I also don't know if I'd want it to go past 2 weeks, my hair gets limp.

  • Very pretty!!

  • @EricaYE6 - Gracias!!!

  • @dominicanblowout De nada!!

  • I've had this done and it works really good, personally I think it's way too much heat if you want to do it regularly so try it with a normal dryer on high and with a fine tooth comb for basically the same affect. :p

  • @AmiAminaru - I agree with you, regarding too much heat, if done frequently. You get the same results with a comb. It looks exactly the same, but I have a better grip....now, I admit that I don't get it as sleek if I don't use a super hot blower. However, I opt to only blowout every other week :)

  • what type of blowdryer do you use?

  • @notoriousjojo101 - It's a Turbo 1500, made by Pibbs. I love it!

  • i dnt c how dis would help someone with kinky hair. your hair is not kinky so of course dis would work for u. there are many dominicans wit african ancestry which really makes them spanish speaking black people however your hair is not a reflection of that.

  • @tatyjt118 - you're right, with regards to kinky hair. This technique works best on naturally relaxed hair and naturally curly. Now, I have seen stylists do this on natural hair that is very kinky, but in my opinion that is just way too much heat, may as well use a flatiron.

  • @tatyjt118 it works beautifully on kinky hair. it just needs to be well conditioned and moisturized and takes patience and quality equipment.

  • did you put anything in your hair prior to the blowout ? if so, what did you use? it's beautifully healthy-looking!

and to the other comments regarding to your hair being "black".. I thought that was maaad ignorant to say because you're right as far as the different hair textures..

and besides you can tell your hair is plenty textured because of your roots!

  • @toyafizzle - I always, always, always use CHI Silk Infusion. I sometimes will mix it with Super Skinny (Paul Mitchell), but CHI is my all time favorite leave-in :)

  • @AlbertaJCW001 - who doesn't have "black hair?" Dominicans, just like blacks all over the world, come in a variety of hues, with varying hair texture. Our hair can be as straight as a Caucasian's, or as kinky as any other person with Negroid hair. We get relaxers and condition our hair, just like any other person with curls or kinks.

So amiga, I do understand :)

  • i have the same blower :D

  • @drloverable - I love mine, but have been looking for a new one...just in case ;)

  • you have really pretty hair.

  • @CarsonLovesYou14 - Gracias, linda :)

  • as long as its straight, it doesnt matter how u do it!

  • @apple62991 - Exactly! In fact, sometimes stylists use a rattail comb instead of a brush (only for the roots). So, it's all relative, right? ;)

  • @dominicanblowout yeaa every1 has their own way of doing things and most times they find it comfortable that way. It really doesnt matter how you do it, if it came out the way it wasnt suppose to then that means you need 2 change the way you did it. your roots were straight obviously so thats how ur gonna do it. were all different lol

  • Great vid. I have thin n very curly (kinda course) hair... it was very nicebefore but then i relaxed my hair without knowing that i didnt need it...and now i have kind of cabello malo lol. I relaxed(Dr Miracle-Regular) my hair about 6 months..but it doesnt seem to work.should i use a super...? i dont want my hair to look like its been straigghten usingg a relaxer? no offence to anyone

  • @b3b3dominicana10 - hmmm...that's a tough call. I think it would be best if you get professional advice, because if your hair is thin, a super relaxer may cause it to fall. Also, you may consider switching products, but I would definitely see a professional first. I switched once and it was the a pain trying to get my hair to feel healthy again.

  • @FloraFire - Thank you :)

  • you're doin it wrong.

  • @angie100496 - oh, is that right? That's funny...you totally made my day, as I envision a chick with no hair posting such a comment. Thanks for the chuckle...lol

  • @dominicanblowout i'm a full dominican gurl and I'M TELLING YOU. you're doing it wrong. you move your brush wrong. LEARN how to take an advice.

  • @angie100496 - You're full Dominican? And exactly what does that mean? It certainly doesn't make you an expert on hair. BTW, soy dominicana tambien and my Dominican stylist holds her brush exactly the way I do; that's who taught me how to do my hair.

Also, in the future...try not to confuse offering a critique with giving advice; the two are not interchangeable.

  • that was great! I am gonna try this today

  • @LunaOverEden - Let me know how it turns out :)

  • Love the blow out and the song. whats it called?

  • @mademenbaby - Thank you amiga. The song is called Dare by Gorillaz

  • I wonder if this would work for my hair - your hair is softer! Will definitely try! Love their blow outs... hate this banging music though!

  • @winiver77 - Just turn your audio off.

  • its best 2 use at least 2 or 3 airforming brushes according to the length of ur hair and its faster than flat ironing because ur curling the hair and blowing drying it at the same time....blow dry from roots 2 ends and the blow dryer does most of the work the brush only sets the style...

  • Cute.

  • Thank you, amiga :)

  • I use the Corioliss Pro flat iron on my hair. I Love it because it does not scorch my hair like the metal flat irons do.

  • Where did you find this version of 'Dare"?

  • @SpankRamen2 soulwax remix

  • Ladies it's the blow dryer that makes her hair straight. turbo twin 3000

  • I was just looking into the turbo twin.

    I've never used a flatiron or hot curler. I'm strictly a rolo-n-blower girl :)

  • nah its a flat iron its been proven to not damage hair

  • Hmmm, I have to look into that. One of my friends prefers flat ironing because she says it's quicker and she says, "I cannot get straight with a blower."

    Thanks for the info

  • Try the In-Styler, its great

  • Good job, I always wondered about the technique.. good vid :)

  • Thank you mamita! Mil besos :)

  • Natalia, you poor ignorant dear. If you could possibly READ you would have learned that the flaking came from the conditioner I used and do NOT forget that there are plenty dominicanas, such as yourself are wearing weaves and trying to grow hair.

  • bitch dont hate if u dont like it dont watch, you're obiviously jealous!!!!

  • i used to do that alot im cuban purerto rican and my hair was seriouse lol i got a true ceramic pro and my domican home girls would ask me how i goy my hair like that but this work lol

  • Is Ceramic Pro a brand of blower? If so, is there more than one model? I am looking for a new blower (just in case) .

  • um ireally need to know what's the name of the blow dryer? p.s. im dominican too u know how our hair is. lol

  • I'm using a Turbo 1500, made by Pibbs. Yes! I know all about our hair LOL

  • Thanks for the valuable info!! Do you ever get breakage? What do you do when you notice your hair is breaking?

  • You're welcome :)

I have had breakage in the past, when I over did it with the heat, or pony tails. What I do is immediately stop whatever it is that is causing the breakage and then I use deep conditioners faithfully.

It's important to find out what the breakage is from first, then treat it.

  • Hey what song is this i like it.....

  • well i know the original song is DARE by the gorillaz, so i'm guessing this is just the remix. i know some songs have many remixes so idk is this will help but... yeah

  • @jilaipi

thanx....i looked it up but i couldnt quite find this verison but thanx for replying....

  • Yes, it is DARE. I love that song too :)

  • Actually this is Dare (Soulwax remix).

  • @kunfussed213 thank you!...

  • You're so very welcome :).

  • what texture is your hair naturally? and what hair dryer is it?? it looks great..i need one like that

  • My hair is very, VERY curly/coarse. The dryer is made by Pibbs; it's a Turbo 1500 and works like magic!

  • ok thanks so much! My parents are puertorican and black and my hair is naturally curly!! ill definetly give it a try=D

  • do you use relaxers

  • I haven't done one in a year or so, but may do one soon.

  • What kind've (or name) blow dryer is that you're using?

  • I'm using a Turbo 1500, made by Pibbs.

  • wow! this video was so helpful! you did an amazing job and it came out great. Now I have a better understanding of how to do it. Thanks!

  • Gracias!! Practice and you'll get it too. It just takes practice.

  • how do u do a wet set?

  • It's not so easy to explain, but after shampooing and conditioning my hair, I do a mohawk (rolos down the middle of my head) and then two rows of rolos on each side of my head.

  • you did a great job! i'm going to get a DB today. hopefully it will turn out well. i'll deff have to try your technique out soon!

  • Thank you! How did your hair turn out?

  • it looked AMAZING! i can't wait to get another...i think i may be addicted. lol.

  • Haha! Once you get that swaay, it's hard to resist, huh?

  • so you blew out the ends first then you concentrate on the roots last?

  • No. I rarely pass the blower over my ends. I put rolos in; I do a wet set and then blow out my roots only.

  • did you put any thing on your roots before blowing them out after removing the rollerst? they seem a little wet compared to the rest of the ar

  • I use a clear heat protector, or serum before putting rolos in. Then, I pass the blower over my roots only. I'm not sure why my roots appear to be wet. They are completely dry.

  • doesn't that burn ur scalp?!!!

  • No; the heat never actually touches my scalp. Otherwise, it would definitely burn! :)

  • U have BEAUTIFUL hair. I'm partially Dominican and I wish I could have gotten the hair style in my part. Lol.

  • Gracias guapa! You can get it mamita. Just practice. Remember, the stylists who we pay didn't learn over night either? Me entiendes?

  • what type of name is the red blowdryer. meaninq does that blowdryer have a speacial name ?

  • what song is this?, and i love the vid.

  • Gracias!

That song is Dare by the Gorillaz

  • Your hair is too cute. What do you use to blow it out?

  • Thank you mamita. I use a Turbo 1500 made by Pibbs. It's HOOOOT like fire :)

  • How much did you pay for it and where did you get it if you don't mind me asking :o)

  • I bought mine used from craigslist a long, while ago for dirt cheap, but I see them in the stores in NYC for $69-$79 dollars. I've seen them online too, but cannot recall how much they run for.

  • Thank you very much :) Your hair turned out very pretty.

  • Gracias amigita!

  • tht looked hot 2 ur scalp i would b supascared

  • I never touch my scalp. I used to when I first started and it is HOT like crazy. You only do that a couple of times, before figuring out how to do it correctly (or running back to your stylist lol).

  • Hey i gotta a brush like that! thanks for this i could definitely try it this way!

  • Definitely give a try. You should be pleased with the results.

  • You did an excellent job getting your roots straight. Thanks for sharing.

  • Gracias! Thank you very much :)

  • Oh okay, I used to use a Paul Mitchell shampoo and conditioner, I think it was called Super Strong. It was awesome at first but after a month it left horrible build up and my hair would flake. Dunno if it was dandruff, but anyway I switched to using a cleanser shampoo. Those strip your hair of any impurities. Now I religiously use a stripping shampoo because I use PaulM gloss drops and smoothing serums, hairspray, and leave in conditioners. Any woman should use it if you use alot of product.

  • If youre having trouble with dandruff try a good stripping shampoo, a cleanser that will strip of any impurities. Use it once a week and you can combo it with your leave ins.

  • No trouble with dandruff. I made the mistake of using too much Nexxus Humectress before putting my rolos in. That always leaves my hair looking flakey, but wanted to use up the bottle.

However, will be keeping the recommendation on hand, because you never know when I'll need it, right? :)

  • Is you hair relaxed??

  • Yes, but it's been almost a year since I relaxed. Not sure if I want to go completely natural, or relax again.

  • When I try this I always get the brush tangled in my hair, do you have any tips for stopping the brush from getting tangled in the hair? Thanks again!!

  • Are you using a boar's hair brush? I don't really pull the brush through my hair at all, just use it to hold my hair while I pass the blower over it. Me entiendes? Does that make sense?

  • muy buen trabajo :)

  • Muchas gracias!

  • mi placer :) ya quisiera yo haber aprendido a secarme el pelo yo misma :)

  • Hey, i actually liked that songs that was playing and i learned some new blowout techniques. So, I can truly say it was a good day.

  • Graicias mi amor! Now, I it will be a good day for me too :)

  • You make it look so easy. Just curious why don't you only blow the crown?
