  • All the members of the NASA management should have been hung by their wretched throats. they just thoght of the money and fame of launching. It's a shame how managers can be so dumb.

  • Did they recover any part of the shuttle?

  • I've thought about this quite a bit, a 2 minute and 45 second ride back down to the ocean only to then die on impact at a speed of 200+ Mph is too much time to reflect on ones life while also knowing you'll be dead in a few minutes.. The situation is really bad and very sad. I would have rather died instantly in the explosion than to have 2 minutes and 45 seconds left of my life ticking by slowly .. too much time to say good bye

  • PLEASE REPLY BACK!!! did they ever recover ANYTHING that was left of the shuttle??? or did it all just dissolve in the ampnosphere?

  • Engineers from thiokil, especially one, WARNED AND WARNED AND WARNED AND WARNED to NASA management, and especially nasa management in charge of the SRB's, that their was a design fault with the O rings, and that they should NOT LAUNCH when it was so COLD. But nasa management at all levels had the " were higher than you " syndrome and totally IGNORED engineers warnings. I wish the astronauts survived, because nasa deserved too loose the shuttle, the fools.

  • :(

  • how the hell are you going to report that the vehicle has exploded and not loose the tone of voice? you are not reporting a soccer game or anything. Show some sympathy voice man...

  • "O assembly of the jinn and the men! If you are able to pass through the regions of the heavens and the earth, then pass through; you cannot pass through but with authority." (55:33) Quran

  • @simplejb1 Quran does not refer to heaven as that is the vacum in space, but it refers to the strata, that strata which prophet muhammad passed on into heaven the highest plane through the assistance of the angel. The angels are the gate keepers of the strata and the one that run the matrix we live on.

  • @nabeelmerchant ok interesting to hear

  • @simplejb1 If you understand the verse below Allah will grant you to acess to the strata, also donot discard the whole Surah, read the whole surah and then deal with this verse.

    SURAH 51

We have built the heaven with might, and We it is who make the vast extent (thereof).

And the earth have We laid out, how gracious was the Spreader (thereof)!

And all things We have created by pairs, that haply ye may reflect.

  • @simplejb1 I would recommend a documentary known as "13 masonic secrets". Its available on youtube.

  • This effectively made me hate the people who knew there could be a catastrophic O-ring failure.

    Business as usual, I guess...

  • @m32132 It sadly was business and the astronauts knew that as well even Christa Mcauliffe knew that.

They had scrubbed this mission plenty times and if they scrubbed it one more time, they knew the media that fueled this event would soon fade, people wouldn't care and would start asking again what's the point of funding NASA.

It's sad but that's how it went.

With Columbia I canNOT believe that mission was scrubbed 18 times!!! If that isn't a sign to not go up, I don't know what is.

  • and i go to school with one of my teachers seen it acutally seen it blow up her name is brandi bateson im in 6th grade to and i am heart broken for a teacher to go to space and never make it there or make it back

  • you know that the people didnt all die from it blowing up they actually all died from when it hit the water at 200 miles per hour

  • @kody1688 really how did you find this out?

  • @Brentsey wtf is wrong with u

  • @Brentsey one of them was a teacher .

  • I feel sorry for the thousands of people dying in less fortunate countries.

  • if the music isnt sad enough, but its just sad that this all happened in less than a few minutes. And that so many people around the US were watching this live. And that people in florida were watching this live and saw this right above them. It seems like something that would happen in a movie, not in real life.

  • From 3:12 to 4:02 is the space shuttle falling and burning...I never seen that till now..it is sad to look at. :-(

  • Would've been a great video if your time sequences weren't so messed up, and you didn't use non-shuttle footage in it....

  • they died on 1/21 today in challenger I honor them

  • That falling, burning debris is not Challenger. It's the Atlas-Centaur rocket failure

  • hope someone lived x

  • @JoanCollins2009 Noone survived this dude, none of the crew made it.

  • too bad the music ruins it :(

  • thhis is sad and guest wat i have to do on it a report on it sad :(

  • it's a shame that these people's lives were the cost for better shuttle safety launch measures. :-(

  • @PowerRedBull..... your an idiot. why would they fake such a horrific disaster? What would it possibly achieve? Please attempt to explain that to me. Because I think you will find that you cannot. Not to mention the 'live' CNN footage that captures the crash.

As for 9/11 been a 'fake' by fake do you mean its merely a movie "just like hollywood?" If so where did the two towers go? How do u explain all the amateur footage which captures the towers collapse?

    You need help buddy.

  • @PowerRedBull you maybe have had WAAAAAY too many red bulls.

  • @PowerRedBull Your stupid.. it was on the news with a camera on the space shuttle, when it happened.

  • Stupid announcer doesnt even seem to give a damn what an asshole

  • @yourbiggestmistake18 he's not a presenter - he was within Mission Control and his job was to communicate the details of what is happening.. Its his job to remain professional.

  • I remember this day, I was sleeping with my bedroom door open and my parents where watching tv and then the news broke to what had just happened, I could here the reporting that challenger blew and I stared to cry while still asleep, I remember this like it was 1 minute ago.

  • real nice tribute video its sad at the end that they never got to experience what the song is all about rip guys n girls at least it was a quick way to go

  • @PS3TheJamesS no offense, but it wasn't so quick to at least three of them. While the cabin was plummeting towards the ocean three of them had time to turn their oxygen on, I just hope they all lost consciousness before the impact with the water. Very nice tribute video.

  • el mundo jamas olvidara...y siempre los recordara como heroes de la humanidad...

  • who were they actually challenging??

  • @khansaab555 that was the name of shuttle

  • @mattharden1982 u didnt get what i mean

  • no offense but the astronauts that fly these vehicles risk there lives, and they know the risk that they are taking. Not to say i wouldn't take the trip if it was offered

  • i just want to know the name of the soundtrack??

  • @wslydaniels and mursilok:

    Shame on you !

  • All Astronauts are Heros.

  • so so not funny...

  • Thats a bold statement from someone who lives in uzbekistan!! And please tell me what your third world, communist country has contributed to the advancement of anything. We have been going into space for over 50 years you dip shit!! But according to you we need more training? You are a disgrace to humanity and so is your country.

  • Very good images and Elan song is wonderful!

    I'm amazed!!

  • yet they looked so happy before they lifted off.........

  • @DullerCorpse i dont think this has anything to do with the lord hes real what their trying to do is discover whats out there they were doing their contribution....to helping discover and form the future

  • @everyone

Keep your opinions to yourself, Don't ever try and tell me what's real and what isn't, I know that wasn't the mission of the Challenger, I was replying to a comment..

I laugh and frustrate at the fact I got 6 thumbs down for saying indirectly "Every one has a right to believe what they wish"

I really hate you Militant atheists and Theists, all you do is try and force your views on others, well keep them to yourself unless we actually want to hear them.

God or no God, we're all here.

  • I beg to differ, it seems to me that Christian fundamentalist are the ones in this country always pushing their beliefs upon everybody. Everything from what we should consume to what we should think and if you disagree then your looked down upon!

  • What country do you live in, England? America?

  • those ppl sitting in mission controlled were not even phased by what happened, unless they were in shock or something, they look very placid =(

  • what is even more sad is knowing that the crew compartment survived the initial explosion. A certain documentary showed a video that you can find and they circled the compartment.. that's terrible.

  • thats sad they didnt diserve that

  • that is so sad i feel sorry for those people the didnt know death was coming thier way

  • @Cheerleader6100 It's eerie watching this video. You hear the voices of these people, and you know that they didn't know that within minutes of taking off, they would be dead.

  • @MultiWhiteLight i dont think thats there voices i think its the control room people or w/e

  • There's a definition for that and it's called faith. A belief that is not based on proof. It's an individual belief. It's nobody's job to degrade what people believe. Good for you if you don't have faith, and good for you if you do. Not to worry, God has a special place for everybody. =]

  • heaven, hell, god, and satan dont exsist. why do ppl even waste over 30,000 hours of their life being tought something that never even exsisted? there is no proof that there is a heaven or a hell or a statan or a god. so ppl you should stop going to church every sunday!

  • xxTULANExx wrote;

"there is no proof that there is a heaven or a hell or a satan or a god."

You are correct. Nor is there proof that these things DON'T exist and the scientific, historic, and literary evidence points far, far more in favor of the REALITY of God, heaven, hell, and the truth of Jesus Christ. I was an atheist. God proved himself to me when I asked him into my life. You are dearly loved by the Way, Truth, and Life, and invited to do the same. He's very, very real.

  • nothing is true without proof. you can't name 1 thing in the world that is true and there is no proof to back it up.

  • It was a shame because there was a slag being produced by the make up the booster fuel did not hold because the chances are if it did the shuttle would have made the point of ejecting the SRB but because the shuttle was slammed by weather it loosened it and the result was the flamethrower from the SRB this burnt through the holding point and then the SRB slammed into the main tank and bang. all this could have been prevented if nasa listened to it's engineers the crew will rest in piece.

  • Ahh religion explains EVERYTHING that we mere biped idiots can't possibly understand. Not vs. god, but our own limitations. Hiding behind that's what you get for squaring off w/god argument is not only naive but gay.Based on recent high christian actions. YOUR lame fears will not be pushed on those who can think for themselves. That's where the term "god forbid" came from. The rest of us will strive for betterment of mankind, while you struggle to find reason in that ridiculous book hypocrisies

  • god doesnt exsist

  • Ususally when you call someone an also I disagree with you.. but the Managers were assholes. Their fault, they did it, they screwed up and the people who designed the SRB's also fucked up. They were under so much pressure to launch up to 13 missions that year, a mission a month. Just couldn't be possible, the managers pushed to hard and they fucked up, they should have taken every necessary caution against it such as delaying to May or April, or the next week even.

  • The problem was the design where the booster segments joined together using the o-rings. After many flights there was blowby caused by the flexing of the joints. But it was never an issue because it never came close to burning thru. The cold weather compounded the problem and the blowby turned into burn thru. The o-rings were suppose to contain the blow by but never worked correctly. After the accident the designed changed and its never been an issue again.

  • In my opinion the Challenger name is about challenging God. Its kind of like the titanic, people said even God cant sink this ship well guess what... And the challenger challenged God, and guess what happened...

  • Im a christian as well.

Challenger is a name. They never said they could challenge god. Half of nasa believes in god and asks for protection. The entire diseaster was a simple mis-calcuation and human error. If they had simply given more time to examining it and not rush things. When they had the flight before they landed on the moon they repeated a verse of the bible of when he created earth. Its not about challenging god it was error. Not flaming i beleive in god too just telling you.

  • How does the fact that you're a "christian" even germane or offer anything meaningful to the discussion.

  • A dude farther down said that the challenger was destroyed because it was challenging god. I hate when christians truly think everything is caused by god and it frankly gives most of us a bad name. God is actually not affecting almost anything in our lives because most people shun him out. I wasnt pointing it at anyone except for the person i had commented on.

  • The Challenger.. it's a really bad name if they want to make something historical..

  • LMFAO

  • GGW81, only three breathing units were activated. I watched "0 seconds to disaster". The one thing I'd like to point at is that take a look at the women in Challenger and Columbia. They look scary likewise. If you believe in mystic, the next shuttle with likewise crew will be meant for disaster too. But, that's only my guess.

  • It happened one year before my birth. My mom watched it in live, we live in Latvia (former Soviet Union). It was an absolute shock for all of us. R.I.P.

  • What is WITH you people? Give you a screen handle and 99.9999999% of you turn into foulmouthed idiots. I can only imagine how you are on the road. Is anyone thoughtful, meaning thinking and civil, any more? And before you trash me for my own handle here, I've been trying unsuccessfully for years to change it. It's from 1994 AOL political cartooning days. I'll take THOUGHTFUL how-to's on how to change my handle here.

  • Oh...bravo....bravo, neetogroin2! Someone who feels the same way as many people I have met on You Tube, who are sick and tired of the immoral, heartless, childish, profane and vulgar people we see here each day. It shows us how cold and cruel the people in the world have become. I say if anyone wants to see just how corrupt the world has become, look no farther than some of the people who comment and watch You Tube, because you'll learn more than you bargained for. It's scary!

  • Yeah, I've been trying to change mine too. NOT. HAHAHAHAHA fuck off

  • thats right

  • wow how sad! my mom was 8 when this happend...

  • Wow.... You fucking asshole.

  • What is the name of the song of the video

  • ah do a little research people, they had gone through emergency 02 procedures, cant do that if you are unconcous, they hit alive and knew it my fellow babies!!!

  • You are correct. The knee jerk reation was to turn on air first. The emergency air packs are called PEAPS. Two were located on the back of CDR & PLT seats. Two were located on the sides of seat 3 & 4. The seat 3 & 4 astronauts are responsible for turning on all four. Some were on when found but all the crew were dead after hitting water.

  • They were probably dead well before hitting the water.

  • not all of them

  • And how do you know this?

  • beacuse in a national geograpic program they told that

  • nat geo and discovery said that 3 of them pulled there saftey helmets

  • What is a safety helmet ?

  • It's believed that they probably survived the rocket breaking up given that their individual breathing units had been activated, but they would have lost consciousness soon after. So, when they hit the water, they were not conscious and would have died on impact.

  • Yup, depending how hot it got there could of been a number of events that occurred. Quite sad, I was born then but remembered my preschool talking about it.

  • man what is with these people insisting on putting in these shitty meaningful songs, this one is super lame!!! god almighty "stop the insanity"

  • most likely they some were killed instantly, but others rumor that they may have been knocked unconcous from the blast and when they hit the water died on impact, they were after all still in the mono cockpit when the blast blew it away from the rest of the shutle, so hopefully they felt no pain, R.I.P. CREW

  • 3:17 + Is That Person In A Seat, Or?

  • holy shit. i can't imagine.

and all those kids see their teacher die on TV.

    horrible deaths...

  • It looks like the black and white shuttle.

  • wtf...look at 2:46 wen it blew up it split diagonally nd thn went straight again

  • great video...terrible disaster. I would prefer to be part of the Columbiacrew in 2003. Well it's not less worse but at least they had made their dreams come true to see the blue planet from above.

  • yeah it looked like it

  • 2:28, parachute?

  • yea it does look like a parachute

  • R.I.P. to these great scientists.

  • This is the best memorial video I have ever seen for the Challenger.

  • shammons1 comment is true?about finding the pit and there remains?

  • The footage from 3:22 onward is the shuttle. You can see the delta wings. Only an aircraft spins like that. I've never seen that before.

  • Horrible warlike cruise missile accident.

  • Stop all your silly bickering! Jeez ur like a bunch of toddlers arguing in the playground! It's pathetic & tiring..Not to mention bloody annoying..Grow up! Anyway RIP & God speed to the sad loss of the Challenger crew..

  • This is still so gut wrenching over 20 years later. I remember being a little kid in 6th grade, and we were all packed into one classroom. The teachers ran to the front of the class, practically falling over each other to pull the plug on the TV and the classroom went from silent shock into total chaos and tears. So sad.

  • same with our class, grade 4 will never forget it :(

  • no you douche it wasnt awesome it was 1 of the worst events in our history and they all died in service for our country damn it

  • internet. serious busines

  • Such a loss....The Flight cabin was recovered with there remains still inside. Although not in any recognisabe state. True Heros...

  • What song is the first one used in this video? i really like it.

  • I want to put a bullet in your head.

  • only ignorant pussies like you have to fill the world with their crackbrained stupidity.

  • omg i wasnt alive when this happend but i feel so bad.Nice Video Btw.

  • cares to know what happened the sealent rings or something like that on the rocketboosters themselves were made out of rubber. ANyone with a brain knows that whenever the temperature is reached to freeze rubber it cracks....causing something of the nature of what i guess you could call a leak. THAT IS WHAT HAPPENED. Lots of people tried to tell N.A.S.A. that was going to happen and to stop the launch. ITs truly sad that they didnt listen.

  • thisnameis1990 is right.

  • i swear to god on a thousand stacks of bible's this is the truth. My grandfather who was a chemical engineer at the time this happened called my father who was ranked in the military and told him to get ahold of someone, anyone and tell them not to launch because he knew it was going to blow. My dad did everything all the way up to as far as he could get almost to the president and they still wouldent stop it. My grandfather stated the outcome on the mission and he was 100% right. If anyone

  • i belive you

  • i'not american, but that disaster i kick me really hurt...

    im from argentina...

    my kiss to their familys

  • Empathy should always transcend national borders!

  • I wasn't born yet during this time but I did got to the same high school as El Onizuka... I think is weird how after you die you are sometimes better remember that when you are living.

  • hmm...I wonder why they called it the challenger?

    Who was it challenging?

  • I doubt your question was serious :) But for what it's worth I believe it was named after a 19th Century sailing ship whose expeditions made many discoveries about the ocean.

  • kk thanks for the info

I was curious you see, cause I thought it must've been challenging someone...or something

  • stupid people like you, thats who its challenging

until you can come up with more intelligent conversations, STAY OFF YOU TUBE

  • "The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing."

  • Teachers at my school brought in a t.v to let our 2nd grade class watch this. When the accident happened it will always be sketched in my mind. My second grade teacher and assistant scrambled crying to try and get the t.v out of the room...

  • i was in grade 2 or 3 when it happened and we got to watch it all,,, i will never forget their sacrifice

  • omg wat song is it towards the end its beautiful!

  • your right

  • sorry about this but i cant seem to find my comment on this video nor can i remember......can you tell me what i said?

  • i Thought it exploded immediately

  • They should have gone on a firecracker and they'd still be alive.

  • maybe you should sit on a firecracker and put it on youtube and see what happens to stupid people like you ;)

  • just makes you want to cry,

  • yes it does,

  • r.i.p all those people

  • want to see fulll nasa launches In HD

    click on my channel (skafadivx)

  • This is what I heard: The O-rings malfunctioned somehow and they leaked fuel into the rockets and it burned through (I think...) and boom... I also heard they knew they were going to die, and they couldn't escape to live.

  • Thats correct and I think it was stupid (no offense to NASA) a.) not to listen to the engineer when he said that the cold weather would cause it to explode about a minute into take off and b.)not to have someone put in an emergency exit because before that they had no way of getting out fast if there were an emergency.

  • You realize an "emergency exit," as you call is (I'm guessing you mean some kind of ejector seat) would be completely implausible... Past Mach 1 at such low altitudes, ejection would just kill them then, not later...

  • actually if the o-ring didnt originally seal after failing at take off (it failed totally when the shuttle hit a windsheer a minute later) the challenger would have exploded on the launch pad and many others in the area would have died

  • The O-Rings disintegrated from the gases on the launchpad (remember the black smoke? They were rubber). Only the aluminium deposits in the solid fuel sealed the gap until a windshear at 58 seconds (300mile/hour wind) that dislodged them. Two seconds after that the initial fire emerged from the right SRB.

I think you'll find that the launchpad is some distance from most of the people there but this is a good point. NASA didn't care about possibly murdering its most recognisable ambassadors.

  • that IS NOT one of the astronauts burning. it is more than likely part of the main tank and propellant. the crew of challenger AND christa mcallifee were all found together in the remains of the crew cabin....about 100 feet down a week after the disaster.

  • That was not a person in a seat, that looks more like an engine or a part of one of them. No human attached to a seat would burn for too long..!

  • what song is that at the beginning before the one where the girl sings?

  • its called what can be done at this point

  • it was the O rings that failed to expand with the air presher . and because the air was that thin up there they came off and so did the plates on the booster rockets just got riped apart then blue up. so sadand expeshaly with that 29 year old school teacher abord :( no joke it is sad about wot happend to them.

  • Holy crap! Where did you not learn to spell? air "presher"? "riped" apart? "blue" up? "expeshaly"????

  • Wow... The Engineers knew that it would happen but they did not do crap to tell them -.- There so heartless -.- Caring about money more then someones life.

  • They did plenty to tell NASA - NASA was just so concerned about "flying out that damned manifest" (an actual quote from a NASA manager) that the engineers' warnings fell on deaf ears. The malady is called "Go Fever" - it was prevalent in NASA after the Apollo 1 fire in '67, and reared its ugly head again with Challenger.

  • Comment removed

  • that is totally backwards.......the engineers warned them for months......and right up till the night before launch......told them "dont launch in that weather" it was nasa that only cared about money and public relations and didnt give a rats behind about the saftey of its crew

  • thats sad to see them so happy coming out of the building and going the shuttle not knowing there lives were going to be lost its sad to watch it blow up=-(]

  • 3:29 someone burning ?O.O
