  • great video thanks

  • love the video really good

  • Yeah my consciousness has grown craaaazaaay. LOL at the end for level 7. Where the party at?

  • diabetes and related complications like hyperglycemia, ketoacidosis, pancreatitis, coma, and death. Side effects can develop at any point during treatment. This is not to say that people do not get depressed, or that people can’t experience emotional or mental duress, but psychiatry has repackaged these emotions and behaviors as “disease” in order to sell drugs. This is a brilliant marketing campaign, but it is not science. - too many years I was a victim of psychiarty.

  • @AkathisiA101 Yes I agree ,psychiatry+the greed of the drug companies has destroyed people's lives.I was used as an "experiment" in 92+given 225mg of Venlafaxine SSR tabs+90mg of Gabapentin ,I was happy mentally but had developed a chronic bone disease in my spine.Their idea was to increase serotonin rapidly to "combat" pain lol.I f lost the plot mentally+started to rapid cycle 5yrs ago.I am pos these drugs exacerbated my problems,Lithium long term pff sucks!! best wishes to you Sophie

  • Omg! You live in Brazil too. I'm brazilian and live in Rio.

I'm dealing with a very close friend with bipolar disorder and I'm trying to understand his outbursts. It's really hard for me because I'm one of the few people that hasn't left him. Everybody left. I really wanna help him and know how to approach him, because it is really hard. He is very stubborn and tends to isolate himself. Can you please send me your email? Thank you so much!!!

  • @Liginha85 If you are in Brazil, why not join my social network here (in Portuguese)...wwwDOTalmabipolarDOTcom.

My wife is a transpersonal psychologist here in Sao Paulo. You could talk to either of us there!

  • I'm 35 and my psychiatrist think I maybe Bipolar mixed state. I came to level 6 at the age of 16 and level 7 at 19, but quickly through depression returned to level 6. So for the last 16 years I have been circling between level 6 and 7 with constantly returning depression after a while on level 7. I have never had any kind of faith. I can only see three options. 1. keep circling. 2. Frequently change my life radical. or 3. Become spiritual/level 8 (which I find difficult to imagine). Help!

  • Why is that guy wearing a t-shirt with a Brazilian flag? Better yet, why does the Brazilian flag seem to be more commonly displayed on things like t-shirts than any other national flag now day? What's the trend all about? Seriously?

  • @Jackfrostyful I live in São Paulo, Brazil. I had no idea it was such a fad back home!

  • @bipolarorwakingup

Do you really? You might be able to offer me some extremely valuable insight regarding an experience that I struggled in dealing with from my past. I of course am bipolar and would love to tell you the story. Is there and email address that I might contact you at?

  • because psychiatry is fraud ? Legalize drug pushing lol

  • Taoism

  • we were not apes some tens of thousands of years ago.......proof is the holy quran, holy bile ................our father is not an ape he is adam gos messenger(peace be upon him)to whom god said"i created him with sand"(holy quran) open your eyes when you say evolution you mean our existance has no purpose.................and there wereno messengers send by god for guidence...... i advice you not to overlook and research about this point

  • your voice helps me fall asleeep its so relaxed and calm

  • WOW! Thank you. Im ready. Thank you.

  • i feel like i have been al of the ones exept the lv 7. now its just a mess .i call it passiv chaos

  • @rubintax Brutal honesty! I love it. The true path of the spiritual warrior.

  • Consciousness to me is emotional maturity. Level 7, the power of now: see AA's the big book. Living in the moment, having learned from the past, the future takes care of its self. By not focusing on the future, you eliminate expectations and a lot of worry. One becomes, "neither cocky nor fearful." Service before self becomes a pillar of life!

  • @jaeou812 Sounds like you really get it!

  • @bipolarorwakingup Omg! You live in Brazil too. I'm brazilian and live in Rio.

I'm dealing with a very close friend with bipolar disorder and I'm trying to understand his outbursts. It's really hard for me because I'm one of the few people that hasn't left him. Thank you so much!!!

  • i love your work my friend but ken wilber?? ewww..that man practically stole verbatim teillhard de chardin's work.meh..maybe i'm getting caught up in semantics because at least you did read the work.be well my friend and keep up the great work.namaste.

  • @enochthewatcher Wilber openingly steals from all of the greats - that is his genius - to humbly recognize where previous thinkers have gotten it right, and let go of where they have gotten it wrong.

  • I had an ecstatic experience and many Bliss states. i love Higher onciousness. It temporarily Healed my OCD, a mental disorder.

  • Going through these videos I have burst into tears. The doctors convinced me I'm sick for nearly 2 years and they had me in hospital for 6 weeks for having god delusions and all my family shut me up. Thank you Sean, I don't know what to do with my bipolar though, my family won't want me to be manic again

  • @dizziestnevada I think the safest advice for someone in your situation is to meditate as often as you can. It will help purify your soul, balance your moods and maybe even release some of those manic energies either during meditation or while you sleep.

I have a few meditation videos on my channel. Good luck!!!!!

    Sean

  • @bipolarorwakingup

I've been off the meds for some time and all the symptoms (ego + mania/depression) started to creep back which inspired me to search for information because I refused to believe everything that I saw and felt back in 2008 was not real.

It wasn't until I heard all this that I understood what went on! I'm so pleased it was healing I experienced before they sent the doctors in! And that we are all truly part of something much more beautiful

    Your a treasure Sean <3

    Dominic

  • @dizziestnevada Thank you Dominic!

  • its called we see the glass half full like it is....no disorder

  • I do have a bit of a problem with the 'heirachy' thing. A heirachy implies that what's higher up in it is 'better' or somehow more advanced. I think this idea flies in the face of reality. Nothing is really like that, there is equal complexity on all scales of the situation. To say that children are 'less conscious' than adults is like saying that south is 'down'. Know what I mean? 'Evolving' does not take you to a higher level, merely a new level.

  • @AsylumSeaker I understand your problem with the viewpoint of it being a hierarchy, but in a video further in the series he actually simplifies the differences between the levels: we're evolving from being fearful and close-minded to being more loving and accepting and open. No level is "better" or "worse" than others, each one has it's own value at its own time.

  • @tweety488 Great response Tweety! I wish I had said it that way.

  • Mind Body Soul

    Spirit/ attitude

Religion and Science can lead to self destruction

Most bipolar people let unconscious thoughts fight ego or control ego

  • i dont even know what to believe in anymore

  • @MrWildnite I felt the same, you will soon propably know what to believe in because you will know. :) All the best.

  • Comment removed

  • If your ill, neither religion or evolution is something to look up to. Since you can have delusions in both ideaolgies. Evolving ain't everything, and religion doesn't hold all the answers..

  • Super-interesting...gimme more!!! Love the video.

  • This video has directly influenced the voice that will change the world, thank GOD, in the meaning that mankind understands it, amen.

  • you dont get it , if you belive in any religeon this video isnt for you, its for people with bi polar disorder who live on a diferent plaine from you, stop trying to preach what you belive on people ,they are outdated and quite hurtfull to some people who worry about the future, it says that people with bi polar cant heal if they have a religeon, its about evolution, try to open your mind to diferent posibilitys,it might make you feel bad about your beliefs but if so dont watch it its not for you

  • haha 3:49 is priceless; Gandhi........Bush

  • Yes, most people don't like the idea of some people being on a higher level than others. But a comparison of Ghandi and Bush just says it all. Its so obvious. People choose to be blind.

  • evolution not so much... just adaptation... leaders and followers... creators and such... collective mind...

  • Very interesting!

  • ....or at 6, but striving towards 7. It seems weird.

  • In truth, at 6, life starts to get much weirder, but more interesting. It seems like there is nothing concrete to hold on to.

So if you feel weird, you must be around there somewhere!

  • yea, when you were talking about how at 6, you start to see things and how they have different perspectives I was like wow. And ur right life gets sooo weird, its weird though, i was happpier at the Modern level.

  • @bipolarorwakingup i have always felt more evolved than anyone i know and it wqas around 25 i started to feel okay with who i am, im now 27 and its like recently i have been breaking down and crying over seeing how other people believe in things i see as hurtfull to their minds like religeon, every time i see someone try to make someone believe in what they do it makes me really upset, ive always knew i was bi polar and i also knew drugs werent what i needed so i didnt go to the doctor.

  • I believe my psychosis has been moving me from level 5 to 6.

  • @Disturbed928 I think my psychosis took me from a version of level 5, to 3, 2, 4, 1,to 6, back to 2, 1, 2, 6, 5, 6, 7, 2, 7. p.s. i'm not kidding.

  • Love your videos. Kundalini Yoga works for me. I have to do it on a regular basis. If I quit for a while, well, let's just say things work best when I do it on a regular basis. 5 Stars.

  • Did you see my vids on my Kundalini experience? I have that story posted on my channel. I think you´ll find it interesting.

  • I went over and watched. Quite interesting.... Actually, I haven't had anything that intense as of yet. I am immersing myself in it at this time with that in mind. I want enlightenment within this lifetime! If that doesn't happen, I'll just have to settle for a lifetime of wellness, won't I? I can live with that.

I think you are doing a lot of good doing this. This is a BIG message you are spreading. Keep it up!!

  • how can this "enlightenment" work for my bipolar friend - who seems to be sincerely caught up in a "sickness" - and unable to keep her job -- please give me your advice

  • The first step is to have her watch a few of my videos...whichever ones speak to you.

If she clicks with what I´m saying, maybe we can help her. If she is opposed to my ideas and prefers to stick with psychiatry...that´s her choice.

  • i think its all about choosing for love of fear (the duality) but the coise gets more clear the more youve grown in conciousness. Why enlightenment en bipolar can seem so defferent they might be the same thing, the diffrence is how you deal with it. Like i think it is with everything. Its not about the object, thing or happening but how you deal with it.

    Everything is consiousness :)

    love and peace

    YZ

  • I'd say I'm on level 6. I like it there and yes I would want everyone to come to level 6 and integrate our consciousness so that everyone can go to level 7. I personally don't think anyone can be at level 7 if everyone else around him isn't at level 7. Imagine a level 7 guy going to a feudal guy. The feudal guy says I'm gonna kill you. The level 7 guy says ok??

  • I'm on level eight, but I'll tell you guys about it when you're ready ;)

No seriously, good videos excellent stuff

  • I had a very beautiful experience, until the cops came;)

  • I keep watching your videos because I don't want to forget my experience. I'm on Abilify, after having a manic psychosis 1 1/2 months ago. I still can't figure out my life, and the psychotherapy doesnt help.

Thank you so much for your insight, it helps me every day!

  • Psychotherapy is overrated. It never helped me and just made it worse by handing me a huge bill that hasn't been paid. I think outside situations influence my bipolar more than anything. Since I've found a good job and a good gf, I've been fine. It's been a couple years and I haven't had a manic episode, so far anyway. Been off meds because I can't afford the doctor visits, but I've been ok amazingly.. :-)

  • Psychotherapy is way over-rated! But certain kinds of regression therapy are VERY powerful. Trouble is, not too many people have tried them, or know about them. Glad to hear you are doing alright!

  • Thanks! I actually haven't heard of that. I have heard of electro shock therapy and heard it's very helpful and *cures* bipolar disorder, it only costs $5,000 each time.... I'm not sure what did it for me. I think it's because I found a good job, good gf and probably letting go of any type of religion has been beneficial too.

  • That's so great! I'm actually off the meds now too, no sign of relapse, and no grey cloud in my brain:)

  • Awesome! I kind of hated taking meds, expensive and I forgot them every now and then.

  • Absolutely just be, and look for the gifts in others, not the faults. I think everyone can benefit from this vid, not just the bi-polar crowd.

  • Just Be! yes yes yes.

  • "How hard it is for they who are rich to enter the kingdom of heaven." And yes I've seen, experienced, and read similar materials that say that we work too hard. Thank you. Let go.

  • I am 6, allways in descussion with other people, becuse i see the reasons off alls sides, and have empathy. And i stand for what i meen.

  • ok, but why can't shrinks heal bipolar disorder as your title says?

  • It's there. Watch the whole video!

  • @sushicatny Because they are only interessted to get one to function in "society" and not to help your inner evolution. "Oh, see that robot is getting a soul and is expressing his expierence, let's call him ill, bi polar for example...then we put him on drugs so he is a humanoid robot again and works for us."

  • your videos go futher than individual bi-pol, and tackle the worlds schitzo state. good work

  • You got that right!

  • Also, the amount of bipolar disorder suffers has increased becasue it's definition has recently been changed. Doctors can and are diagnosing and heavily medicating disorderly children with bipolar disorder. Since they changed the definition the rate shot up, this doesn't mean people are having spiritual awakenings, it just means they broadened the spectrum of people they could drug and then sell drugs to indefinitely.

  • I´m aware that the broadening of definition has been partially responsible, along with the big pharma marketing, but 4000%!!!

10 years ago it was quite rare for people to 'go insane'...now its almost common. And its only going to increase. I expect 1 in 4 to have acute manic psychotic episodes (or spiritual awakenings) within 5 years.

  • I know it's hard to believe, but the 40-fold increase has been in children, not adults, and it's only been since the definition was redefined - the evidence seems to point to a mass medical fraud. Also a large percentage of pyschosis is drug related in some way or another - marijuana usage has increased exponentially over the last decade or so and is now being used and abused on a wider scale than ever before, its just as common as alcohol.

  • I think it is partly due to our school system. Due to the pressure on schools and teachers to perform to Gov targets. Look at the diagnosis of ADHD for example..from wiki.."inability to sit still, fidgeting, squirminess, climbing on things" and "Inattention: easily distracted, day-dreaming, not finishing work, difficulty listening" Well way back when I was at school.. I did not want to be there..I wanted to play .. not sit still for eight hours and not say a word and just listen to the teacher.

  • Lucky for me that I could play truent without being branded a 'criminal' and my parents did not care about exam results etc and I could play in the woods and have a great time! Learned a lot too.! Some kids can conform to this prison. Some cannot. ADHD..then SAD and 'depressed' from being defeated.. Never mind eh? A drug will cure this!! I feel so sorry for the little children of today. It is a crime. Cheers!!

  • The experience generally occurs after or during a culmination of multiple factors that affect your dopamine and adrenaline levels; stress, trauma, sleep deprivation, drug abuse, near death experiences, malnutrition. It also helps your chances if you're creative, have a history of depression, are male and in late adolescence or early adulthood.

  • With time, rest, diet and a tranquil environment, most people can return to their usual self within a matter of days, rarely does it last more than a month, which is why a sectioning order only last 28 days (here anyway).

  • 'Level 7' is a rab tab collection of free thinkers, a small minority, like there's always been.

  • A few have always been there. The difference is that the number of them is growing.

  • Populations are still socialised, opinions, views and fears are still largely manipulated by the mass media.

As the population of the world exploded, its subdivisions increased, including free thinkers - larger in number, but they remain proportionate to the world population, and are an extreme minority. The world is still populated by closed minded zombies or 'sub-level seveners', that is why videos like these only get a few thousand views, yet a monkey chucking faeces will get millions.

  • @NickyMcDermott Level 7....is somehow agnostic, Robert Anton Wilson would love Level 7.

  • This whole thing is grossly oversimplified. Biochemists don't even know what caused the flagella to evolve into bacteria, let alone how humans evolved.

And by the way, I just want you to know that I am bipolar, and I am glad I have meds to take--meds which have spared me from the hell of mania.

  • Yes, it is over-simplified. That´s why it´s called an INTRO-DUCTION. But keep up the closed-minded comments....you are my fun for the day.

  • Oh - that's wonderful. Someone who has expressed their suffering is your "fun for the day". Very spiritual response.

  • True. When someone insults my work with pseudo-intellectual idiocy, sometimes the gloves come off. I´m no Eckart Tolle.

  • For what its worth, it wasn´t my best day. But I guess its too late to turn back now.

  • Eh. **shrug** We all have off days. Have a good one.

  • The notion that "primitive" man had to constantly scramble to stay alive couldn't be further from the truth. I have studied the Kung tribe of Africa, and they work far less than we do.

  • I didn´t say Tribal man (level 2) had to fight to stay alive. I said Archaic man (level 1) was focused on fighting to stay alive. Archaic is the first, pre-tribal level. I´m aware that the typical tribal 'work-week' is about 20 hours - at least that´s what it is in the Amazon.

  • @bipolarorwakingup 20 hours, that's sounds nice, if the job sucks and robs time of other important things.

  • The Gandhi & Bush bit was spot on. Hilarious!!

  • I commented on this video when it was presented on PsycheTruth, it has been a few weeks and yet I still feel the same. Level seven appears to be applied situational ethics. By inventing a hierarchy and stating that the present achievement is the highest order is akin to spiritual materialism. It is easy to reference ten practices off the top of my head that describes your experience; some are thousands of years old. You have already said it though, no frame of reference.

  • I don´t really get the reference to spiritual materialism and while it is a hierarchy of sorts, it is within each of us. As far as being the highest state, I was pretty clear in saying that it is the highest state - so far, but that Graves thinks higher ones are to come.

  • Psychological materialism is the mistaken belief that I exist outside of my momentary perception of things. Spiritual materialism is the failure to let go of ego clinging in the development of an understanding of spiritual and related areas.

I read Wilber in the 80s, and his departure into spiral dynamics is akin to digging up the bones of one graveyard and placing them into another, in this case business hierarchical construct. Humorously, I convt to Buddhism base on this 12 yr ago.

  • The Atman Project: A Transpersonal View of Human Development by Wilber published in 1980 as well as Up from Eden defined the process of consciousness as Bottom to top: Sub-consciousness (Plueromatic Self, Uroboric Self, Typhonic Self, Verbal Membership Self bridges into Self Consciousness Mental Egoic Self, Centauric Self: bridges into Super-consciousness Sambhogakaya Subtle Realm, Dharmakaya Causal Realm, Svabhavikakya Ultimate Realm.). (2)

  • What comes into view at this point is that indeed spiral dynamics demonstrates self-actualization though in this system barely constitutes the centauric self. Graves simple wrote about what Graves could demonstrate though Gravess perception. The purpose, to sell books, and offers a treatise to a western business audience. Its Ok, but ignores and deletes as it chooses the whole of what it could be to play to the ego and turn a buck. Maslow did the same thing, why? The metaphysical bridge..

  • And I love the south park, lol...

  • i'm at level seven. lol

  • LOL, I love the pictures of Bush and Ghandi... :)

  • I like your video, Ken Wilber, exploration etc... and

Extremes do not necessarily equal enlightenment and evolution even if handled "by friends & family at home" without drugs. Sometimes it equals no procreation and regression or at least oppression and digression. Who knows? I'll stay tuned.

  • welcome to my subscribtion list Dr Bipolarwakingup

  • Easy, I´m no Doctor!!!! God forbid!

    But thanks for subscribing!

  • Hey Sean,

Great Video! A very didactic with some entertaining pics... really enjoyed it!

  • What happened to just plain old pheonix reborn?! ;D The next part of the series will start to get pretty deep. Stay tuned!

  • This was enlightening to me, I've never looked at the seventh level of consciousness that way, but I nodded my head through the entire thing, I think I'm at the seventh level myself, though I haven't always been that way. It came from months of regular meditation and philosophy.

  • Usually people in that 6th level turn to meditation and lots of introspection...so if you sense that you are operating from that space, you probably are at least some of the time. Keep it up!

  • Ran out of room...I'm itching for part 2!

  • Actually, I just got tired. I still haven´t even started part 2 (and there will most likely be a part 3 and even a part 4 to this one). For the next 8 months, I´ll be getting deeper and deeper, stringing the whole thing together.

  • I think the environmental problems today are a reflection of the internal state of humanity as a whole. After all, we are the only species that has the opportunity to make a significant impact on our environment. Could it be that we are projecting our inner state onto our outer surroundings? As a side note, I always thought that spontaneity was a good quality until I went to a behavioral psychologist. He said I was too spontaneous for my age! Thanks for making it ok to be spontaneous again.

  • Very nice, Sean :-) Not every person with bipolar experiences consciousness expanding psychosis, but you touched on some interesting points for those fortunate few ;-)

  • Actually, I would say that every experience in an acute psychosis has the potential to heal and, therefore the 'potential' to expand consciousness. Certainly your experiences had that potential...I´ll be getting into more detail in the future vids...

  • I agree with you, but the point I was making was that not everyone with bipolar disorder experiences psychosis. I've met a lot of bipolars in online support groups, and some of them have never been psychotic- their problem is primarily with their mood swings. In other words, not everyone is borderline schizophrenic.

  • Sorry! My bad. One day I want to do a video about these 'mood swing' people as well, even the hypomanic people. Oh well, one video at a time.

  • It's all good, bro. Your videos are excellent. You have a real talent for presentation :-) I like your ideas too!

  • nice job---

  • Thanks!

  • Excellent narration.

    Entertaining and informative.

oinkysqueek sent me. I'm glad he did.

  • Yer somebody sent me this video again today :)

  • interesting, esp the spiral theory, look fwd 2 part two.

  • Great video Sean, you are evolving too!

But for me the "simple answer" to the extremely vital questions the clip starts with is not a very satisfying one.

Does it mean that religions don't want us to evolve and that psychiatry/ psychology just don't understand?

Should I just wait till part 2?

    ... Yes, I want more!!! :-)

  • Always leave´em begging for more! Consider this series as my own personal 'LOST' where every solved mystery leads to more and more questions...But I guarantee that your questions will be answered, at least from my viewpoint!

  • great video!

  • What I really want is to escape and be turquoise...are you going to explain this level too?

  • After letting this vid sink in I thought I'd share the direct effect this has had on me.

I'm diagnosed Bipolar I, and have been starting to have a few mental issues lately due to a merger going on at work. Putting together 2 different work cultures, especially with resistance is a headache and was being "green" about it and trying to please everyone.I realised that if I was just more "yellow" then the stress would be gone. And it was..in about 5 mins.I'd say that beats meds hands down :-) thnx!

  • Wow, thanks for staying the course to shed the light

  • and ken as a south park character...awesome

  • I completly agree with cX. You are making these concepts so easy to swallow. Thanks so much.

  • Awesome, intriguing video, as always! ;)

  • Awesome job, your work is appreciated.

  • great video and interest

  • great video, I can't wait for the next one

  • I´m working on it!

  • Sean, You're AWESOME!!!!!

Thats is perfectly clear and concise-you said it would be and it was...

I so can't wait for the next one!!!

    Coogs

  • Being the intellect that you are, an AWESOME from you means a lot!

  • Interesting...

  • Have you read Prometheus Rising, Tim Leary or RA Wilson, or Jung, this stuff all sounds very familiar. Very interesting theory you have here, although I think it's never really straightforward- I know for myself I still struggle with things on level one or level two(basic survival and socializing), while part of my consiousness probably resides somewhere higher. It all comes down to Maslow's hierarchy and once you achieve one thing, you want to have another goal.

  • Oh, and I like the little cartoon characters. Maybe if I can ever become decent at lip sync, I can make them talk for you. :p

  • I´ll take you up on that!

  • Speaking of Maslow, here is a video of Colin Wilson (the author) recounting a communication he had with him on the topic of healthy people.

    v=btNpJ0iUaRQ

  • Thanks, I´ll check it out.

  • Hey,cool,I went to college with Colin's son Rowan

  • That is awesome! I have a lot of admiration for Colin Wilson as an author, probably the closest I get to being anyone's "fanboy" if you will.

  • Hey Oz, actually in Integral Psychology Wilber categorizes the theories of consciousness evolution from over 70 (seventy!) different thinkers, religions etc...so it´s not a new idea at all, but the hard data and detail that Graves put into it were new. Maslow, also a founder of transpersonal pscyhology was right there with it. And you are right about working out things at lower levels...people can 'gear-down', but they can´t 'gear-up' beyond their current level. Moving up takes struggle.

  • If your name doesn't go down in history alongside such luminaries as Jung,I'll,er,haunt whoever it is that does the typing :-)

  • Ahhh shucks! I´m just stealing what those guys knew and putting it in English so normal people get it without having to sift through a bunch of old books!

  • No-one does it with your finesse, not to mention approachability

You're on absolutely the right path in life, and that,my friend is thrilling to see :-)

  • Thanks cX, the right path...it only took 42 years to find!

  • I'd never have guessed you were 42,but that's interesting,because I didn't find my vocation until I was 30 or so,but it's taken until 37 to really get it down :-)
