americans fucked bape up, too many hypebeasts. Bape has transformed and is still more of a concept brand, which really stilll makes it attractive for me. you can make any brand look fucking terrible if you dont wear it correctly and overdue it.
@edisondick trust me... he wore a bape. his cell phone case was bape, AND... his custom bape X casio X jacob dw6900 g-shock watch, the silver/platinum joint. Mr. Williams probably wore over $18K in bape gear. he represents thats fa sho
Same how everyone's wearing: Louis Vuitton, Christian Louboutins, YSL or Martin Margiela right now, for Americans it's all hype. BAPE is a lifestyle, more than just a street urban fashion brand. That's why Pharrell said, "What Bathing Ape represents is how far your imagination can actually go & actually turn into fruition." Nigo, Pharrell and Kanye has been all about that lifestyle.
In America, people buy BAPE because of their exclusivity & imported retail price. Famous people in general liked it for that reason. The only ones who are able to comprehend the label's true intent are the Japanese (of course), Pharrell, Kanye and some other loyal fans throughout the world. SouljaBoy, Jermaine Dupri--they bought it because it cost $500 for a pair of shoes & you're "ballin" when you have a rack full of it.
Honeslty I've never really seen people wear Bape, Icecream, BBC, none of that stuff. Every once and awhile I'll see it, but it never really seemed big. Plus most of the stuff I saw wasn't real.lol Well its been out this long, someone must be wearing it.
t-shirts are $100-150, sweaters $200-300.... that's higher end but it's not top-end. Gucci or Dior Homme or DSQuared for the same item will cost 2-4x as much.
With all the BAPE in circulation, the new official Pirate Stores, and the easier access to BBC -- they're not nearly as expensive or rare as they were 2-3 years ago.
and easier to find authentic 3rd party websites or eBayers
(i've used a few and only of might be fake, it's hard to tell - the other 2 are definitely authentic based on appearance, and the eBay one is authentic because I know him and where he gets it)
I blame it on Rap music lol. From about 2005-2008 I heard plenty of songs that had something to do about Bape, then after awhile I just stopped hearing about it.
@mrblackmagichimself don't forget Ian Brown!! I remember seeing Browny wearing Bape waaaay back early 90's. America ruins and comercialises everything...they like to jump on bandwagons and try to make them too epic. Modern days examples I can think of on top of my head is Dubstep, fucking ruining that, got Britney Spears producing pile of wank dubstep, and All Saints the clothing brand is just getting way too much hype. @jreese66 BAPE was THE SHIT in the late 90's esp the UK scene.. James Lavelle, DJ Shadow, more... America has RUINED IT.
