I wholly agree, being a HUGE Haunted Mansion fan the Phantom Manor has way better story and appearance to it, and the music to me is wonderfully haunting..Ours is getting better a little at a time with the addition of the graveyard but still a long way off

I completely agree. Most euro audiances are more into substance, whereas americans just want entertainment, which is not bad, but PM is in my opinion heads and tales above HM.

This has a much darker, atmospheric old world vibe. Clouds and cathedrals and ghosts feeling.I REALLY like it.

How does any of that change anything, if it's in a Disney park then that means it shouldn't be there.

However, Tokyo's version of the HM may be the same, but the exterior is run down and slightly scary looking, as is the MK version is slowly becoming.

I wouldn't say that the ride is "too scary" for Disney, its a haunted house, concepts like this (scary) date way back to the original Ken Anderson ideas for a "ghost house".

@NicoleHalsey13 Disney has deviated from this for a long time now, people seem to complain about Phantom Manor's exterior, but no one ever complains about:

Haunted Mansion (Tokyo Disneyland)

Indiana Jones Adventure

I think a heavy factor is that people now know Disney isn't some run down cheap park, and that when things look "run down" its done in a tasteful manner. Disneyland was created in the time of cheap carnivals, and times have changed.

At the end, when the chimes start coming in around 7:14 I always feel like I'm slowly slipping into insanity. Until the singing fades out, that is. They're beautiful and blissful for a moment; then comes the beating heart...

You are just one lucky person!! I love traveling but I rarely do stuff like that. I hope you have a wonderful time. My friend went to DLP in November 2008 and she said it wasn't that great because there was lots of rain and lines.

@Rock29Roll That wouldn't work Disneyland is praised for being one of the last "family" theme parks where as Paris' Disneyland has focused on the 12+ audience with a few of there rides. Phantom Manor does this by allowing you to see and fully understand the story line Haunted Mansion also has a (slightly less) gruesome tale but it is much less forward with it.

@spiderdusk While it may seem the same as the one that Disneyland Paris sells at the start, it's actually an extended version, with more unheard melodies. I'm actually working on a full ride-through of the current version with the French narration and all.
