Blues, by definition, can sound like anything, it's about emotional content and invoking a feeling in the listener, this could be easily classified as a "blues" progression just on the basis of the feeling it gave me.
exellent lesson .... i've been trying since a few days.............working up the left hand isin't that hard, but the right hand technique seems troublesome
So apparently attending a concert is also "guitar lesson" as long as you're close enough to see the guitarist's hands? Seriously, how is this a lesson for beginners?! Now I'm at the bottom rung of intermediate so I could figure this out, though there are a few chords and fingerings there I'm unfamiliar with but I couldn't have when I was a beginner. I just don't get the point of taking the trouble to set up a camera and everything and then half-assing it like that. Take an extra minute or two!
@fotwunny The camera is zoomed in on his hands. He lists the chords for you. Just because he's not telling you to "put your ring finger on the second fret of the first string" etc. doesn't necessarily mean this isn't a lesson. It was a lesson for me and probably a lot of other people too. Just because you didn't get it doesn't mean it wasn't a "lesson."
I can't see what he's doing with his fretting hand...and the way he is fingering some of these chords, the Cminor for example, isn't even shown that way in my chord bible.
To the youtube Musical Pigeonholing Police: put a sock in it. Son House would have been the first to have told you so.
I recognize a progression similar to "Ain't nobody's business", amirite? Sounds great, will be stealing it. Thanks for the great lessons, panties are being shed in my vicinity because of them.
i agree this isnt blues, more of the classical guitar genre, but dont get me wrong your guitar tatics are great and your style is fresh but this isnt blues, blues is shit like son house and robert johnson
If the only thing you guys consider to be The Blues is your basic 12 bar I-IV-V shuffle, then you are just showing your ignorance. I would say Mr. Lorange has forgotten more about the guitar than you guys will ever know, but, from what I have heard, he hasn't forgotten anything.
@PoorMansPlato That example isn't very effective as it is comparing apples to oranges.Music is subjective, it is impossible to label something exactly into one category, besides his use of 7 chords made it feel very blues-like...I'd have no problem calling it blues
@RicardoCotadoAlamo *sigh, I saw this video quite a while back, and now that I am watching much later, people are STILL saying it son't blues! I really don't see why you would think it isn't. Not all blues is the standard 12 Bar Blues ya know.
what a melody. acoustic blues is so meaningful. i dont know how people compare this with ultra fast arpeggios by malmsteen that dont even scratch the surface of our emotions
Thank you!

Simply stunning! Just beautiful. I would love to have the complete arrangement.
Would like to study more.
Thanks for sharing.

Please change the title. Its a nice simple piece, but nothing bluesy about it. You´re not even using arpeggio.
NightshotBR 1 year ago
@NightshotBR .. the progression is bluesy and I think you should look up the definition of arpeggio.
planetalk 1 year ago 13
I'd say NightshotBR's got a little different take on "Arpeggio" (as in sweep picking)

@planetalk As Abe Lincoln said "If you call a tail a leg, how many legs does a dog have? 4 calling a tail a leg does not make it a leg."
Anyway, I like your lessons!
Two cameras is the best way to do them so we can see both hands in real synchronized play!
