Cuyahoga Wildlife Rescue - Bird with broken wing

so what about in the case where wild life rescue won't help an animal because it's to common and considered a pest? I have a pigeon with a broken wing but humaine and wildlife shelters (et cetera) told me that I had two options, release it and let it die naturally, or bring it down and they'd kill it... I'd rather it actually had a chance, so I've taken it in, but I can't mend it's wing because I don't know how.
