@Torejansson That's odd, I have a decent machine that runs windows 7 64bit and the enhanced edition works fine.

@Fattyrat I dont own the enhanced edition, just the normal disc version. I thougt the enhanced edition might work on this system (same as yours) I just dont feel like buying it when I already own the game. Even thoug it doesnt work. There has to be a patch or something...

@Torejansson There was. CD Projeckt were nice enough that those who'd brought the original game could install a giant patch and there'd be your enhanched edition.

This is a pretty special gesture so don't expect it from all game companies.

@USBTRYHARD Google Can You Run it, and choose the first option. It'll allow you to check the system requirements for any game they have in the list, including both Witcher games. :D

Also, incidentally, one of the best games ever created and the best RPG by far since Baldur's gate.

I have read the book The Last Wish, and I have to say that I'm damn impressed that CDPR did the fight scene so close to the book description. What an honor to the author. (I can't him off the top of my head. lol!)

And yes, CDPR almost absolutely perfectly recreated the scene up to the tiniest details.

As for it being an honor to the author, he deserves it.

Seriously, you should read the other books.

Andrzej Sapkowski is one of the most original, creative and different authors I've ever read, if not the best among them.

@UshiromiyaReiji I would have to agree, I've read the czech translations and they were awesome. I've also get the first book translated in english (It was published all the way in 2008 :o ). It is still good obviously, as it's the same thing, though the polish names and european mythos don't cope well with the english I'm afraid. But that'S just me, because I've read the czech translation alredy, which is the closest to polish you'll ever get. :)

@Dmaster311 That doesn't even make any sense.Of course Polish is the best way to read it in as it is the original. But I am not that good in Polish to read a whole book in it. Maybe I would understand some things, but not the whole thing. So czech works. It's a very similiar language, so nothing should be lost in the translation.

Any slavic language is close, really.Nothing is lost in translation, as it is often in English.

Luckily, I had to learn to read a certain slavic language in the past, so I read all the books in it.

That, and most English speakers aren't familiar with the slavic mythology, so some things don't make sense to them, just like you said.

From what I've read, the Czech and Russian translations are top notch and are the two best ones.

I personally read the books in Bulgarian. The translations were surprisingly accurate and everything was conveyed almost perfectly.

The English translation of "The Last Wish" was disappointing, to be honest, for example, while most of its slavic languages counterparts are very, very well done.

Um, no. The MMO genre tends to steal value from great games. The Warcraft series was fantastic, but when the MMO came out, it just didn't feel like Warcraft anymore. I played it a lot and even got to 80 and did some end-game stuff, so my judgment is not an ignorant one. The MMO is decent, but it feels like some value was stripped from the series because of it. It's hard to explain.

You know what really scares me now? Bethesda is interested in making an Elder Scrolls MMO. That TERRIFIES me.

Dobry produkt swoje musi kosztować, ale szczerze powiedziawszy twórcom niskobudżetowych gier wcale się nie dziwię. Swego czasu (bodajże w PSX-extreme) czytałem, że typowe niskobudżetówki, to całkiem niezły interes dla małych studiów developerskich, ponieważ nie mogą wyłożyć kilkunastu milionów na jeden projekt, a te "gorsze" gry przynoszą dochód przy znacznie niższych nakładach.
