  • And we know there is no motor how?

  • @jib1000 For one, the motion is not constant.

  • I can't find it on phun

  • I see the velocity and friction calculations still don't fully obey the laws of real world physics. Trying this in real life would result in a classic case of the Laws of conservation of energy, and a device that only would be good for a door stop. Great idea though.

  • LOL nooblet, in a simulation rules can be enabled and disabled, and tweaked, in Phun, objects can not obey gravity or friction, noticed the title says "in phun"

But thanks for your (useless) input

  • Are you going to build one?

  • I hope to, yes :)

  • When expanded to full screen, it appears that the uppermost hinge point has been stretched out of position which is a program anomoly that is causing it to rotate.

  • It may look like that. However, it did not spin with different weights. :)

  • Could you try one thing for me then? Delete the existing hinge point and re-insert a new one in the same spot. If it still works, then I'll be a believer! :)

  • Well, how about i send you the .phn file?

  • Thanks for the file. First, let me say that no one could have wanted this to work more than me. Unfortunately, I found the problem. As I thought, you have a hinge point under tension. While its running, use the drag tool to stop it from rotating. Notice the longer of the 2 light green arms is wiggling back and forth which means that you probably rotated the red arm without resetting the hinge points on the green arm. I cloned the assembly and fixed the hinge and now it doesn't run. Sorry....

  • Im glad you noticed what was happening and your right. It is a glitch. I replaced the hinges with fixed points and it no longer worked. I'm still fixated on the idea however and im sure i can get a working simulation going. Thanks again for the interest :)

  • I applaud your effort and determination and sincerely hope that you can get it working and will look forward to any new update.

    Best of luck!

  • @Theobtusellama Use 2 hinges right next to each other, that will create a fixed hinge joint (always goes back to one place)

  • send me please the link to your phun file

  • this is pretty cool i can do one with a spring. just put a circle with center hinge,

put a spring from one side to the backround.

then pull the circle until the spring is stretched through the center and release it.

it probly won't work the first time but mess with the settings and you should get it.

    AWeSOME VID 5/5 FAVORITED!

  • Im pretty sure we all know it will eventually stop in reality. get a life.

  • I dont think your are familiar with the concept of a simulation. Seriously, think before you comment. You just made a fool of yourself

  • Well it may be a cartoon but... a lot more people like spongebob than you... people like you who can't leave well enough alone.

even if it is a "stupid cartoon" you won't die if you don't bother everyone about it. I PROMISE.

  • its not a carton it has real life simulation(almost) its cartoon looking so its faster

    and ur a gaylord

  • rofl... Love the last line.

Something you'd hear from Arby 'n' the Chief.

  • nice! we've only been focusing on like smooth and continuous, yet we can still use things like this in the future! 5 stars

  • The right weight everywhere, and that thing will go a long time! It also look's good!

    Cool!*****

  • yeah, it would. i would be interested to see how long this would run for on earth. in the sim there is no friction...

  • Holy crap thats cool. Nice job.

  • if it really doesnt use motors, ill give you 5 stars

  • lol ill give him 5 stars for the design

  • Awesome...

    Wonderful..

    Marvelous....

I think this is brute forced perpetual machine

    I give you 5 stars....
