  • why are there no jochum haydn symphonies on y.t.???? and i thought that gonnenwein was on vox or vanguard cd's in the 90's.

  • I've always enjoy Jochum very much also. in this section though, personally I'd take the opening "recitative" section a bit slower, and the fugue rather faster. Sharp, clear and beautiful though.

    My favourite recording of Shopfung is an obscure performance by Wolfgang Gonnenwein and the Norddeutches Rundfunksorcheter, from about 1965 I'd guess. I've got it on vinyl, haven't found it on CD.
