  • Tom Waits rip off, ...or tribute to Waits....I did kind of like it.

  • the best video so far keep it going.

  • Excellent video-- musically and originality with the visual. this is what YouTube was made for, Refreshing to see something with effort, ingenuity and talent. Great song, great video!

  • that was great - how do you get the effects?

  • Class! well done, from a Dylan fan. Thanks for posting. Very original.

  • Perhaps you started to "serve somebody" at about that point. I only just noticed that was 3 years ago. I should look at something more recent! : )

  • I wasn't quite convinced about your presentation until two-thirds of the way through, when you were beginning to get tired. Then I got the sense you were really feeling it.

Just a thought. I really liked the video work.

  • @LPKaster lol yeah, it was also very hot. Very tired, very sweaty.

  • funny, i like this stuff. i have to change my way of thinking. :-)

  • I knew we'd eventually hear what Tom Waits's arse hole would sound like .Sorry to bad comment but not for me.

  • @KPNumbuzz CLOWN .. TOM WAITS IS A LEGEND

  • EXCELLENT: Will surely look for more work from Steveaux!

  • Very cool version of the song!

  • lov it! :)

  • @socialmediayoda: Lifting others up:bit.ly /9NW4sp #dredeyedick Bob Dylan said it:Serve Somebody bit.ly VasAtener

    Brilliant! -dredeyedick

  • Yesterday I saw that for the firts time, looking for Bob Dylan.

    I can tell You this:

I am 'old generation' and I don't like very much when the people trying to do something with 'my' Bob Dylan... or with other big stars of before.

But - what You have done with this song is just HEAVY GOOD!!!

I like this very much, thank You, Steveaux:)

(Onother exeptions are for me Sid Vicious with My Way and Guns&Roses with 'Nocking on the Heavens Door)

  • Great video, man!

  • dude is a soul brotha!

  • tom waits feeling

  • Wonderful: Dylan meets Waits. You did a good job with this melding of two jewels. I got quite a kick out of this. Good banjo work too right out Bone Machine. I gotta lot of smiles out of this.

  • Very very cool

  • amazing.. absolutely amazing

  • Help me Obi Wan Steveaux, you're my only hope! (Someone had to say it!)

  • Im happy I saw this.I am a big Dylan fan.I think Dylan will like this if he sees this.

  • good job!

  • This song was ringing through my head and then I found your interpretation. Fabulous job my dear. Fabulous!

  • oh man, oh man, that's great....I keep coming back again and again to listen to your verson of this song...

  • tom waits fan are we?

  • Original.

  • Man this guy is Bob Dylan and Tom Waits rolled up into ONE!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i first didn't like the interpretation but as i listened on i found it was great and different to enjoy. great effort.

  • This is a great version! It may even be more Dylanesque than Dylan himself. I have listened to this about 10 times in the last two days. WELL DONE!

  • absolutely fantastic!!!

  • very nice interpretation!

  • One of his best songs! amazing!

  • Awesome!

  • Incredible!

  • Bob Dylan, Mixed with Tom Waits/ Captain Beefheart/ Jim Carrol

  • Well done..... good interpretation of the Dyland; I love people who are innovative and can do their own thing in life!! I like this estrange version! :) For that, for being yourself and stand out from the croud with this .... I give you 5 stars!

  • Thanks! It was really hard work!

  • This is GREAT JUST GREAT WOW!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @YoSoyZuri Just learned Lennon's Serve Yourself was a (poor ) answer song to Dylans song. I agree YoSoy ...Mr Zimmerman should be proud. Steveaux sounds like the last surviving member of Flying Lizards, obviously the one with talent.

  • Man, It's rare when I clap my hands to anything, but this version is really groovy and cool! You did an outstanding job with just not the video but the vocals, which are gritty and driving. I liked this video man. I like the song anyway, but you added a harder edge to it. Nice job.

  • How did you record all these music segment's of different instrument's being played seperate? all together?

  • very talented musical group to do this remake song, but, what is the name of this group doing this song? I like it, kinda got that southern draw sound, down here where I from.

  • It's just me playing all the instruments with the video capturing layered together.

  • how did you record all the different music segment's together?Since, your playing each instrument, alone?

  • I video taped myself playing the beat first, then played back the tape while recording myself playing the other instruments and singing. Then in my computer, I layered all the tape recordings together into one song. Then in the computer, I cut back and fourth between all my selves playing.

  • that was bloody fantastic

  • you have a great imagination

  • Fcuk yes!

  • Extremely cool man. Hope to see more original interpretations from you.

  • an awesome cover- great vid. loved it

  • Wow! I'm very impressed by this & the "Mississippi"-swamp-jazz-interpretation... will there be more such songs? Maybe an album?

  • Reminds me of soemthing Tom Waits would do.

    Nice Job

  • It's Tom Waits basically.

  • Absolutely Tom Waits. But also check out "That 1 Guy" and "Bob Log the 3rd" similar idea. I love it. You need to do some originals dude

  • Very original and i love the way you have experimented with the way you wanted it to sound, it comes over really well!

Yeah i think Bob would love this:)

  • This is a fantastic cover. Nice job. It sounds filthy - but that's the charm.

    Marc

  • You know, I saw Bob Dylan last Friday night and he sung this song just like you guys are doing! MAYBE HE SAW THIS VIDEO AND YOU INFLUENCED HIM! I'M NOT KIDDING! He opened the show and sang it without a guitar or keyboard, only a harmonica like you're doing!!!

  • That's awesome! I've been to three Dylan shows and each were fantastic. I hope to see that version of the song you mentioned.

  • I can't help but think that this would bring a smile to Bob Dylan's face.

  • Amazingly good!

  • cool idea! but harmonica is so out of tune, i couldn't finish the video.

  • v good - thanks

  • Reminds me of Chocolate Jesus by Tom Waits.

  • Played as loose as a saw blade, laid back and etched in the mind.

  • that was amazing realy I thought it was tom waits at first.

  • Same here.

  • finally bella flick, you make me insane, tones tanales, swerve, didnt hit. hurt. bedford mecho, ned beatty.

  • congrats very cool !

  • Tom Waits version........HAHAHA!

  • This is GREAT !

  • super dylan-nerd points to anyone who can tell me where this line comes from originally:

"you may call me R.J., you may call me Ray, you may call me anyone, no matter what you say, you're gonna have to serve somebody"

  • That annoying one trick pony who used to appear on Sonny and Cher: "Well, you can call me etc." Forgot his name.

  • wrong

  • The old hipster in the zoot suite with the cigar on the Gong Show. "Buts you doesn't have to calls me Johnson!"

Hows that "Chucky baby, Chucky baby, Chucky baby!"-(The Unknown Comic circa 1978.)

    Mean Gene the Dancing Machine

p.s. How about that Juicy J.P. Morgan?

  • YAY! you win!

  • genius

  • Haha, well done. Funky, scary, you gonna hafta serve somebody!

  • Good job.

  • you guys are unbeleeiivable!!! great work on a dylan masterpiece.. your HIRED!!

  • I never liked the original, this version is miles better. Pretty Tom Waits, like ToniSavela said.

  • I liked the original.

  • I just don't like much from Dylan's 80's years. In the 60's and 70's he was legendary, he almost made nothing masterpieces.

  • You have to dig around for some gems in his 80's period. "Shot of love" (1980) had some very good songs. "Infidels" afterward also had some good tunes. Nowhere near his godlike abilities of the 60's, but yes, the 80's was a slow period.

  • Oops, make that 'he almost made nothing BUT masterpieces (about the 60's)'.

I think Infidels has some of Dylan's best songs in his career; Jokerman.

  • DEFINITELY Jokerman

  • Its everytime o´clock online and free of bondage of nation

  • I Die 4 LO-FI!

    /-.-\-.-/-.-\-.-/-.-\-.-/-.-

  • Boy, you got it! ;)

  • Brilliant! Its a funny thing but I was just thinking through that whole sort of trip and watching some Dylan clips and how we are all sort of stoned out in this giant mind which is obviosly just bubbling over with creative juices of one sort or another like a gigantic stew. Check out Galadriel, as played by Kate Blanchett, and how beautiful she is.

  • This is so obvious Tom Waits, but I like it very much. The best rendition I heard of Gotta Serve Somebody...

  • Holy cow!

With each video I think that you can't top yourself, only to feel the same way when you upload the next one...This was excellent, keep it up!!!!
