  • I'll just walk out of this open door here lol

  • gg

  • this was an oustanding brilliant story this is top notch script writing. i dont care about special effects i have seen too many american shows that have fantastic special effects yet the stories are shite.

  • I honestly don't think the episode is racist. They were wrong to cast a European as an Asian, but the actual character and dialog was not racist.

  • that cheeky doctor!

  • Loved 0:28

    Classic Tom baker moment

  • this was a really good episode..too bad nobody has uploaded the whole episode :( ..if they did I can't find it

  • It reflected what was socially acceptable at the time, compare this with Mickey Rooney's portrayal of Mr Yunioshi in Breakfast at Tiffany's from 1961.

I propose that these social barometer readings gives a measure of where we were and more importantly how far we have progressed since then.

  • i hardly see this as a racist episode. u take love thy neighbour for instance...that show took the piss out of racism in britain.

  • Though some people accuse this episode of being racist (and sure, it probably wouldn't be aired today) I actually thought Chang was somewhat sympathizable towards the end of the episode, betrayed, dying...and he's a fun character up until that point, playing off the audience like that :)

  • I'd say casting was perhaps racist but the actual story wasn't.

The fact that they used a westerner to play someone from China was insulting to all the actors of Chinese origin in Britain, but the actual performance wasn't racist at all.

The character came across as an intelligent and honourable character (albeit doing some very evil things). It wasn't a caricature.

  • The cabinet of death (US congress)

  • Where can I watch Magnus Greel take his helmet off and reveal his face?!

  • The Talons of Weng Chiang was a real joy. A cracking story with great performances. Fu Manchu meets Sherlock Holmes meets Phantom of the Operera at the set of The Good Old Days.

Couldn't make this these days as its too 'Orientalist'.

Plenty of humour and a fantastic giant rubber rat too!

  • THIS ONE IS MY FAV
