He was on Donahue after the Betting allegations came out. I need to find this video in my archives. In it he trashes the commissioner of baseball and lies about everything. He also said he would bet anyone in the studio that he didn't bet on baseball. Yes Folks, He said that.
I had an episode of American Bandstand where in the credits the announcer said if Pete Rose broke the record you would be the first to know on ABC Sports that was around late August 1985
I know that this is off subject, but if Pete Rose is not in the hall for gambling, then Mark McGuire, Sammy Sosa, Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens and whoever did steroids over the last ten years should be banned from the hall of fame.
Maybe Rose wasn't supposedly "in the league" of all those greats. I would add "so-to-speak." I agree, talent-wise. Rose made the most of what he had, though, and added giving his best everyday.
Even to those who think he cheapened his career to do so, Rose has the MOST all-time hits, games played, at-bats, and more in Major League Baseball.
Enthusiasm & 110% effort counts for much - & puts Rose above many in pack. Sadly, stupidity and lack of character cost him so much.
In despite of his betting. Pete Rose deserves to be in the Hall of fame. At least give him credit for that...

Babe Ruth was the greatest.

Ruth was fat at the end of his career and afterwards. All the footage you've seen of him was from this period.
You want to see a fat man, look at Barry Bonds.
The fact of the matter is that Ruth had INTERNAL skill. Modern players have big muscles.
Trust me, son...talent and skill have nothing to do with physique.
When you get older you'll understand.

You've got your head up your ass, son.

And furthermore, todays big players are roidheads who couldn't catch a flyball if their lives depended upon it.
Young schmucks like yourself think that hitting homeruns is everything. Its not.
The greatest players were all great defensive players.
Wrap your tiny brain around that, grashopper.

And quit talking about putting a bat on a ball and start thinking about the totality of the game. Pitching and fielding in other words.
You're a young, naive boy. Go take more of your steroids.

Pete Rose sucked Phil Donahues dick better than Marlo Thomas ever could.

is it just me or was Donahue one of the most effeminate men ever....LMAO (kinda looks like a nerdy librarian)

cripes, look at who he is married to.

Donahue was overhyping wildly. Rose was not in the league of Cobb, Ruth, Williams, DiMaggio, Mays, Aaron, Musial or Mantle.
TheGeneralRule 3 years ago
correct, he was in his own league. the top.

Pete at his highest point in Baseball. Sad, that he would bring it crashing down on him just a few years later.
I still believe Mr. Rose belongs in the Hall of Fame, but he could have had so much more.

Me too I mean so what if he bet against the sport he deserves credit for all those hits and I beleive he shoul be in the Hall of Fame
