I had an episode of American Bandstand where in the credits the announcer said if Pete Rose broke the record you would be the first to know on ABC Sports that was around late August 1985

I know that this is off subject, but if Pete Rose is not in the hall for gambling, then Mark McGuire, Sammy Sosa, Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens and whoever did steroids over the last ten years should be banned from the hall of fame.

Maybe Rose wasn't supposedly "in the league" of all those greats. I would add "so-to-speak." I agree, talent-wise. Rose made the most of what he had, though, and added giving his best everyday.

Even to those who think he cheapened his career to do so, Rose has the MOST all-time hits, games played, at-bats, and more in Major League Baseball.

Enthusiasm & 110% effort counts for much - & puts Rose above many in pack. Sadly, stupidity and lack of character cost him so much.
