The only reason why Ironhide was in Chicago was probably because they did not want to spoil the plot that he died in the movie before the Chicago battle scene. I think.

No because you can clearly see when they were filming the driving shots that he's not there which was why many people were suspecting something was going to happen to him.

They just keep all cars near the set at all times, just in case they need to do an emergency reshoot for some more footage.

i saw these two on a trailer in louisville ky about a month ago getting on I-265 headed toward I-65 i dont know where they were or what they were doin didnt realize it at frist and was like oh hey thats the transformers but i have a suspicion that ironhide doesnt make it through the movie by watching all the spy footage online he's not around that much
