I'm just gonna guess that you're a college student because you have a small Fridge with mostly snacks and take out items. No actual cooking ingredients.
I wasn't done with the soda and I didn't want to finish it at the time, so i put it in the fridge to keep it cold. It's not an American thing, it's a cold soda thing.
