  • Nationalists (Catholics) were kept down in Northern Ireland by various means and were 2nd class citizens. Northern Ireland was FAR from being a democratic state then.

  • It wasn't just Ulstermen that died at the battle of the Somme. It was Irishmen from the entire island.
