  • did you do this is in Machinima? if so, is the program difficult to use?

  • thats a great suicide video.....nice song, and nice choice of map....great work

  • A question, Does Yelo remove hud? Cus im not going to mod my 360, and i need to do that widescreen effect for recording halo 2 (where you close in the black sides)

  • @GamerBoy81 It sure does. It's very useful for machinima. Third person camera is hard to use when splitscreen or system link though, so you're better off using the conventional method of having one player as the cameraman. The hud can be removed with an easy button combination.

  • @SplinterCell37 Yes but then you gotta use effects to get rid of the radar, ammo and weapon type

  • Great video. There were some things that I found a bit iffy however. Such as the frame rate. it was a bit slow, which led to some dissapoinment, however the cinematography made up for it. One thing I would suggest however when and if you do another test for this subject. Is when he raises the gun, he is pointing it foward. So what I would do is focuse on one side of his head up close, then have another spartan point the gun at his head, to make it appear as if the one spartan is doing it himself

  • Thanks for the constructive feedback. You're right about the gun bit, that wasn't very well done I admit. The framerate was most likely an issue with my capture card.

This was done three years ago, and if I were to redo this, it would be completely different. I'm glad you enjoyed it however! You might find Project Indigo on my channel to be a bit more interesting :)

  • Very nice video! I just got Yelo set up too and doing some test vids with it. Are you using built-in recording or a capture card?

  • I had to use a capture card. There's built in recording? O_O

  • Yeah. You use White+Dpad-left. It takes all pictures. Then you have to use Batch Deswizzle to convert them to images after they're FTPed. Then You have to rename them in order, and finally run them through Virtual Dub which saves them as an AVI. It's a long process, but it's worth it for people like me who don't have a capture card. Check out my test video I just uploaded if you want to see the video quality.

  • Hey dude, as much as that was well made and how well the cinematography was thought out, I don't feel this is a subject to be making a machinima on. Someone who had a relative die from commiting suicide might see this and take offence. Sorry, but it's a touchy subject and not something to do Machinima on Halo of.

  • @Irishpeoplefart And so is every other movie that involves suicide. You shouldnt revolt against making a video simply because some people may find it offensive through an experience in their life time. As real of a subject as it may be, it can also play a great role in a movie. One could say the same with war. Many families have lost loved ones due to war, and yet look at the hundreds of films primarily based on the subject.....

  • WOAH! that was great! how did you film it? I want to know how to do that in Halo 2, cause i'm trying to make some Halo series and stuff. It would be GREAT if you told me

  • Thank you! I used a mod tool called Yelo to move the camera independent to the character. I didn't have xbox live so I could mod the console without repercussion. But you could probably get the same camera angle from the last shot by piling up some vehicles and standing on them. If you mean how to do machinima in general, there's plenty of videos that go into in-depth explanations of how to do it, much better than I could type in 75 remaining characters. :)

  • Amazing Video Guys!!!

    :)

  • FUCKEN HELL PUNK FACE

  • Not bad, but some other machinma scuicides have a creepy or gut wrenching story added into them, the actual scuicide you did though is in no comparison to them.

  • Thanks man. This was only a test, I had some crappy story behind it that wasn't worth filming but I still wanted to try the cinematography. I'd be interested to see the examples you mention.

  • nice!

  • that was pretty depressing

  • No, it's the Delta Halo Suite.

  • Makes you think about why you would suicide in a game anyway. You never really think about how the characters in online are supposed to be actual people.

  • Hahah! Interesting view ;)

  • Good point

  • Nice vid! However its kinda sad.

  • Good! That was the point ;)

  • i dont get it

  • Refer to description

  • hehe i have to say that i didnt watch the whole video, i missed the part of the shot.. well, this character is not very expressive...

u know, with the helmet forgive my english please, im spanish

  • Oh, I see! That is the challenge. As a film maker you must find ways to make the character seem expressive, even though he has no face.

But yes, you have a point.

I'd love to speak to you in Spanish but even after 9 years of bad education I still cannot speak it fluently :(

  • you talk good english... de donde eres?

  • nice, well done. its good that u showed the characters emotions and took time to show that many thoughts were running through his mind. the setting matched the story line good too, so did the lighting effects. and then showing him loading his pistol and making it all black (sinc in halo u cant shoot urself like that) and showing him fall. made it dramatic and made u feel the character. nice quiet scene too. very well done, keep it up. u can make good scripts. make a movie sometime :P

  • Thanks man! I really appreciate the thoughtful comment.

Check my profile, there's a 5 minute machinima production that won a competition.

  • That was kinda good, ;) well I dont think I would do it better, Just got sony vegas and trying to get use with it..

  • umm. just thought i'd ask if u could chek out my vid xD i'll post it as a response. its not that great but windows movie maker dosent give a lot of flexibility with black screens and changing angles -_- n wot recording program do u use?

  • I use Adobe Premiere Pro, and my advice to you is - well, first of all, find a better program - if you're making a machinima, it's no different to making a film, you're just using a game to do it. The way you make it and the content of it is completely up to you. People will say that serious scripts never work as machinima, but they are very wrong. It's your film, and it's up to you what you do with it.

  • Oh, and remember that "No one makes the first jump". Practice makes perfect; because the more you make, the more mistakes you find, and the more you improve. Keep that in mind.

  • haha thanks =] any advice for me. im really noob at .. machinima right now xD first one i gonna make lol =]

  • hey splinter... i was wondering if i could have your permission to do a re-enactment of this video. just as a test.

cos i might be making a machinima and i want to test timing and that sort of stuff. you should know =] anyway reply plz =]

  • Haha, I did this video because I'd seen someone else do a suicide in a machinima, so I wanted to see what I could do. =P

Go ahead, you don't need to credit or anything.

  • such a great soundtrack. nice direction too.

  • Thanks mate.

  • I am AAAAAAAAAA fuck what will i do

  • Extremely well directed. Great choice in music. Very underrated theme. One of the best videos I've seen in a long while.

  • Thanks man!

  • Actually a fiend of mine killed himself the day Halo 2 came out so this video's theme penetrates somewhere.

  • Sry bout that man i can only imagin how playing a game so frecuently and yet it bring back the true memory of a friend =/

  • haha xD

  • HOw did you get the camera view like that

  • made me cry!!!! not lol

  • Hahah =P

  • I got goosebumps

  • very touching. good job :)

  • Thank you!!! :)

  • nice video and I agree with all the good coments just wish it had a bit more stuff to it... O well!

  • Haha, it was meant to be an emotion test, nothing more - thanks for commenting!

  • nice...good camera views...all out 100/99

  • Thanks! :D

  • A GREAT VID HOW DID you get the angel under water

  • Thanks!

For lack of a better word, I used a mod/hack.

  • Thanks! =)

  • well i didnt like it much but it was good at the end but anyway i give 4-5 *s keep up the good work =D

  • Thanks! =)

  • wow, that was really well done, i hope you make more, 5 stars

  • Thanks!

  • u suk, get a life, and mbe a gf, i cud do dis way betr

    Lol

    Brilliant 5*s

  • Well actually yeah, as far as I recall I had a girlfriend at the time of making this video.

    ;P

  • holy crap. that was freaking awesome!

  • Thanks :D

  • great vid!!!

  • Thanks =)

  • I loved it! That was a beautiful, but sad machinima!

I gave it a 5, because it was SO well made. Wish i could make so good machinimas. :)

  • Thank you very much!! :)

  • I laugh now since on some maps in halo 3 suicide isnt an option theres perimeter turrets that shoot you if you do.

  • Lol!!!!

    Or a minefield =P

  • Have you ever thought about doing an action machinima with Dust and Bones from the Delta Halo Suite? If so, then I would be delighted to watch, since that's my favorite part of the Suite.

  • Dust and Bones...? Which part is that?

  • Nevermind, I found it :)

  • If you hear it closely, it sounds a little like Heavy Price Paid, but I know that it is a revamped version of the Delta Halo Suite, but I'm not sure of which song had come first.

  • The end of the Delta Halo Suite, yeah. Approximately the last 2-3 minutes; some of it was edited off for the sake of the clip's duration.

  • I enjoyed that wondrous work of art! Nicely portrayed. The song fit with the mood as well.

  • Thanks heaps for the kind comment! =)

  • that was a vary enpiring vid dude, im totally getting into the machinima world, that was great dude...

keep doing it ur good at it!!! Massecre117

  • Thanks man! That was a very inspiring comment =D

  • Nice!! I'm totally looking forward to it.

  • Great job, this is amazing i love halo 2 machinima

do you have live? I say we make some together!

  • Thanks :)

I'm getting a few months of Live with Halo 3 so my friend and I can enter a machinima competition near here. I might catch up with you then ;)

  • great dude im gonna do something like this in a movie that i make..hey what if they were about to jump off the building that behind you and then all of the sudden the camera is at the bottom of the building and sees the dude just fall in front of the camera

  • i think prob he made some things fall in the sea so he could stand on them without diein. nice vid man that was awsome

  • Not quite - I used a (for lack of a better word) hack for Halo 2 called Yelo. It allows you free movement of the camera and "teleportation". Halo 3 has that built-in though.

Thanks for the encouraging comment! I really appreciate it :)

  • Like in the Splinter Cell Chaos Theory trailers? Where the guy was pulled fell off the lighthouse? (Sorry, can't really look for references at this moment - will get you the trailer later if I remember)

  • wierd
