The music in my video was copywriten by Reprise Records, whose parent company is Warner Music Group who have an agreement with You Tube to allow thier music to be posted in videos on You Tube. They even state this on thier site on Sept. 2009 and I quote.

I've checked the literature and consulted legal experts and as far as I can tell no one has been sued for this kind of 'offense' (yet). The dispute option is used by many users and several report of being successful in reinstating their uploads. In addition, WMG has signed an agreement with YouTube last year that lets users use WMG music in their videos...
@xxbeholderxx On the other hand, there's no telling how YouTube itself respond if your dispute is not merited. At worst, they can terminate your account.
In sum, if you have strong grounds you should appeal!

YT announced it will take several months (until January 2010) to remove the WMG limitations. Having said that, even after that WMG (and others) can still have your video muted if they feel you are not using it "appropriately" or if they, er... feel like it. As things stand they OWN the music and get to decide if/how it is used.
According to both YT and WMG press releases it should have been over by now, but I occasionally still hear of some cases. Plus, keep in mind that they still have every all the power to block something if they see fit. So I expect there to be more cases, but nothing as massive as the things happening in 2009.

I really don't get it....In a way it's really not fair. If i buy an album i pay for it ( I PAY FOR IT ) and it should be normal to use it the way i want to use it, doesn't matter if i make a video with a song from the album that i've purchased , beacuse i own that album. I've checked the literature and consulted legal experts and as far as I can tell no one has been sued for this kind of 'offense' (yet). The dispute option is used by many users and several report of being successful in reinstating their uploads. In addition, WMG has signed an agreement with YouTube last year that lets users use WMG music in their videos...

BR is in poor health- 2009 sales: DVD $ 8.5 billion; BR $700 million; VOD $2 bn
So Warner is pulling the trick of putting out ONLY a BR version of some films;
My point is-in this economy-they might sell 5,000 of lets say, a remastered MAD MAX 2 on BR-and maybe 50,000 on DVD!
So they dont need our money?
(since BR are are expensive to make-they would make MUCH more profit off of the DVD of said title

Also it replaces ALL the audio and not just the music, which is simply absurd when the music is only in the background of your videos.
And of course its not possible to place the music very you want to, cut it, do fade in/out; etc...

YT announced it will take several months (until January 2010) to remove the WMG limitations. Having said that, even after that WMG (and others) can still have your video muted if they feel you are not using it "appropriately" or if they, er... feel like it. As things stand they OWN the music and get to decide if/how it is used.

According to both YT and WMG press releases it should have been over by now, but I occasionally still hear of some cases. Plus, keep in mind that they still have every all the power to block something if they see fit. So I expect there to be more cases, but nothing as massive as the things happening in 2009.
