@robinsdave1 It's only on CD; I taped it on audio tape originally. I also have a lark in the park concert from 1990, but not Cristy, an Emotional Fish, Cry b4 Dawn etc. on DVD how do I upload that?
from songs about the famine, Irish americans, children going missing in san salvador, travellers and unemployment in Ireland this man is a true historian and is not afraid to speak up for what is right! he is a national treasure
@colmbuck i love this man through and through however i didnt like hes ignorant attitude towards drug addicts back in the 80s (not i say addicts not dealers) and I dont like the way he belittles himself by sticking up for knackers like hes lowering himself associating with them hes above there level a great man like him shouldnt even know scum like that exist and walk among us....
@colmbuck sorry incase you misunderstood that i dont like the way he used to belittle drug addicts but side with traveller vermin.... hahaha i read over my comment and realised you might of took it wrong i feel for drug addicts but despise pikeys
I love this song and Christy Moore. What a fine strong mans voice he has. Thanks for that bit of info HolyFather. I always thought that Gordon Lightfoot got Edmund Fitzgerald from Back Home in Derry..not the other way around. Fantastic songs both anyway.
boby sands w3rote this plus many poams and sent them out to cristy moore who put music to them and cristy did not no untill a long time after who wrote it as bobby sands sent them under a alilis {machella{spelling not good}
Different verses than i'm used to. even different from the Christy Moore Songbook. Great rare version! I grew up in the mid-west, thinking it was a gordon lightfoot song - til i was at a great session in Kerry where the traditional version was played. Still one of my Favorite Songs.
@ colmbuck well said top man he is, so proud to be from doire rip boddy sands

Well done, Bobby Sands... a great song and nobody better to do it than Christy. Nearly as part of Derry culture as `The Town I Loved So Well`.

Yes indeed this is a fine song but Bobby wrote it to the air of " The wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald " by Gordon Lightfoot

Actually, the song is originally an Irish folk song, Lightfoot used it for the song.
