@kedocom Doesn't have to be much, if it's a soldering iron it should do the work. I think mine is 40 or 60W, it will take a bit longer to get to proper temperature, but more than that you'll burn things or make your work hard.
You gotta make sure it's very clean - no oil from touching it (pot AND wire tips). Use isopropilic alcohol to clean it. Even so, sometimes it won't stick, it's part of it, try again and again. I guess during the videos I had to redo it a couple of times (and edited it) ;>)
ok, heres my issue, i have a shechter daimond series bass guitar, and it needs its jack fixed/replaced, i have the jack it came with, however, it is completeley detached from the three wires, one green, two black howeever, the black wires are indescernable (spelled right?). so, how would i know the difference? i have a soldering kit, wire, and am familliar with soldering, all i need to know is which wires go where? please respond.
the hot wire is the wire that goes from the middle prong on the vol. knob to the positive on the jack, 1 black wire goes to the ground on the other prong the other black wire grounds to the trem claw in the rear cavity probably or maybe somewhere else not really sure they are all different
Great videos im actually going to buy a Fender Squire Stratocaster next week because i will be starting guitar lessons. I have read that the guitar I will buy isnt that good at playing metal. I wont buy a different guitar because this one comes with everything I need and I cannot afford a different guitar. Do you have any tips on modifying it in the future? im planning on getting Seymour Duncan pickups and a Floyd Rose Tremolo. Any tips?
Pickups will definitely change the sound of your guitar. For floyd Rose you will need higher modification, not sure if you should do it. Shielding is also good thing, so you can put lots of effects without background noise.
Nice thanx for the warning i dont plan on making any routing or miling any part of the wood im just looking for upgrades that sound great and fit the cavities i already have. I heard that the Strat goes out of tune when you use the whammy bar alot (Divebombs, etc..) so i would try to find a good tremolo that stays in tune for those types of effects. I will consider your "SHielding" idea. Thanx for everything and good luck!
Hi, not that I know. I think it's specific for luthiery. I got it in Brazil from an auction site - probably in the U.S. you can get it at stewmac, or in other country find it in auction sites, too. Or specialized guitar shops.
how many watts should the soldering iron be? thanks!

ive got a practice pot(a second hand one juz to practice) i noticed something like a copper behind the solder..what is it?
HAIKELzambri 2 years ago
dunno, maybe it's copper to increase conductivity... or maybe it's the frozen liquid from the solder. sorry, can't help on that.

Hi theres a very good site called 1728 - just google it. Other sources are manufacturer sites such as DiMarzio and Seymour Duncan.
