While I do agree somewhat with the cause of the sea shepherds, I believe their actions are not excusable. Instead of being proactive they really only result to assault, trespassing, and near piracy.

Sea Shepherd's actions are productive. Last year they were able to limit the whales killed to 50% of the whalers quota resulting in millions of dollars lost. Compare that with Greenpeace who produces no results. You don't cry and beg people to stop whaling, you have to get involved.
