What would it matter anyway? He wasn't aiming to split the arrow obviously, he was aiming for the bulls-eye, regardless of the range he was standing at -the arrow being split by the second arrow was a mere coincidence.
oh lord! why would he say 90 meters when it was only 40-50 meters? who gives a shit...its good shooting regardless... i've done a robin hood at 15 yards and was proud as shit of it!
- even the sound travel is calculated and compared with hit and the delay (camera location) , i'd say the distance between target and shooter is about 50m.
Did you use steps or laser metering?
...and sounds are recorded preeeetty well if you think about shooter and target distances...
For MrsRich1000, I shoot a Hoyt Vectrix with a 70 lbs draw weight @ 305 fps, that's over 100 yards per second. If an arrow flew 4 - 5 seconds it would have traveled 400 - 500 yards, well beyond the distance being claimed in this video...
that wasnt 90 metres you can tell the sound of the arrow would be MUCH quiter than that from 90 metres and it would take around 4-5 seconds to hit it at 90M but here it only took about 2 seconds (or less) which means this is alot closer than 90M and also the noise the arrow makes would be much quiter which again its not 90M....
@MrsRich1000 I shoot recurve. It takes about 2 seconds, I shoot about 205ish fps, from the release to the sound of the arrow hitting the target. For a compound, the timing is right on.
@BigJoe1094 lol i shoot a fast bow and it wont get there as fast as that, look it up mathews monster xlr8 the fastest bow they make i shoot gold tips 5575 30 inches at 346 fps!!!
@studdgage arrow speed doesnt necessarily mean it wasnt... all it requires is a bow with high enough of a draw weight... (sorry if thats not the exact term haha im sorta just starting shooting, love it btw, but it only takes common sense to realize)
@Youreview4592 i have done it for years and draw weight means nothin just so ya know!!!! Type of arrow length of arrow length of draw has more of an impact then draw weight!!! i know bows at 60 lbs draw out shoot 85 lb draw weights draw weight dont mean shit!!!
@Youreview4592 clearly you know nothing arrow weight and draw length will add or take away more speed then just poundage!!! on average 1 pound of the draw weight is only 1 fps. BUT one inch in draw length adds or removes 10 fps!!! Maybe you should go study more!! You also can lose or gain more speed in brace hight roughly one inch there is 10 fps but adds or takes away from the forgiveness aka short brace is faster but arrow stays on string longer if you move a touch effect the arrow more.
@studdgage Stop. do a little quick math with me here. it takes roughly ONE second for the arrow to get there in the video. Now, lets say he is shooting a bow that reaches speeds of roughly 280fps, a good guess in this day and age. now then! 280fps over one second is... oh my 280 feet! and 280' is 93.33 yards. and 93.33 yards is roughly 85 meters... huh. seems he was pretty spot on. Wow 4th grade math does wonders doesn't it?
@studdgage You obviously can not read. My comment shows that even without exact data on his shot that in the time between the arrow leaving the bow and hitting the target it would have traveled at least 85 METERS. Please don't be ignorant.
@pickngrin4jc I clocked the time at about 1.3~ seconds. It also sounds like a crossbow, of which often tend to reach that velocity mentioned with ease. Most of the more well know cross bows can fire up to 345 fps. This target could very well even be farther than it's labeled. If he was using a compound like the other used suggested, the velocity of the arrow would be between 180-260~ fps, as those are the standard pulls. Regardless, the distance is proven regardless the methods.
@legacysage Finally. Somebody smarter than a 3rd grader. I didn't know crossbows had advanced that far. I knew a few could reach those speeds but I didn't really keep up with them. But those are also the speeds easily attained by today's compounds as well. In fact 260 is even easily attained with just a 50# draw. Just take the Alpine Micro for example. With a 50# draw and 28" draw length it has an IBO of 280fps.
@studdgage No disrespect but... what brings you to that conclusion? Unless he altered it manually it should play back at the same speed it was recorded.
@pickngrin4jc well actually most video recorders arent in real time do to the FPS they record at and the fps they play it. Most of the time they are not exact especially if its not digital.
@studdgage I would still have to disagree with your conclusion that he was not 90 meters away. Listen to the music in the background, it does not sound distorted and so I would assume the difference in playback to recording speed is minimal. Besides, I was too lazy to go and count the number of frames to get an exact time on arrow flight. all I did was use a stopwatch and round down. Just remember that even with a traditional bow it would take just over a second to travel 90 meters.
@studdgage bullshit listen to the bow go off and the time it takes for the arrow to get there, it was definately a big distance. great shooting mate i have a compound bow and thats a bloody hard shot to do good work.
ok you know your arrow slows down at about 3 feet out of the bow so even if you were shooting 315 at 40 yards you would be like 255 or maby less, when the arrow leaves the bow it leaves behind lots of kinetic energy.
Don't mind the people commenting on here. I posted a video and somehow brought out the most vile, racist, and disgusting people in the world to comment on it.
Sweet shot, I'm watching the MythBusters split arrow episode and had a hard time believing that it couldn't be done so i turned to loyal ol' YouTube.
emmm I think another camera is needed. One is to see the bullseye and another is for cheking that the shooter is at 90. I think that is obvious. Maybe this man just wanted to record the shot.
hehe! I understand your doubt, but I just used the camera to see where the arrows hit,(since I didn`t bring my binoculars) and I thougt I`d might aswell record the the shots incase of a nice grouping or something like that ;)
@jenpsex but i timed it with a stop watch and it takes 1.25 seconds from the time you shoot to the time it hits. Nice but what happened to the 3rd shot?
What would it matter anyway? He wasn't aiming to split the arrow obviously, he was aiming for the bulls-eye, regardless of the range he was standing at -the arrow being split by the second arrow was a mere coincidence.

not 90 meters, and a true robin hood has to be on the centre of the target
