  • hi I have a question is it possibale to substuit a liquid in the biscuit recipe for exzample if it calls for milk can can I substuit that with chicken broth to make chicken flavor biscuits,,I have been wanting to make chicken flavor biscuits ,,could I do this using chicken broth,,,thanks for any help Rusty

  • @bedlam101uk we put butter and jelly on hot ones, like toast or we crumble them up and cover them with breakfast gravy!

  • "afraid of yeast" ?

    Sorry, but I think yeast is soo tasty, handy and not very hard to use. I use it to make my pizza dough, my sweet breat and for cakes with fruits on the top. I don't mind using instand or fresh yest. It's both not very difficult.

    If you use fresh yest, just disolve it in some warm(not too hot!) warter and put a TS of sugar in. Thats all! ;)

  • These are just another type of biscuit, but aren't as light as scones or baking powder biscuts. They are part bread, part biscuit.

  • These are what we call Scones here in the UK but we don't put yeast in them. We normally rub the flour, salt and butter together and then the liquid is egg and milk, bake and VOILA!

    We sometimes add Cheese for Cheese Scones or raisins, sultanas and alittle bit of sugar for the sweet scones.

    Your Cookies are what we call Biscuits.

  • I usually love the ideas here, but I really prefer baking powder biscuits.

  • would it be ok with Whole Wheat all purpose flour? or will that make it to dry? thanks! love your recipes!

  • I use whole wheat flour, the baking comes out good, but it has a different texture.

  • They will work with part whole wheat passtry flour, but they aren't as soft and tender.
