@WilliamClarkDK Hello. Unfortunately Alopecia Univeraslis is a condition that is very difficult to treat and our treatments will not help with regrowth of the eyebrows. Alopecia World is an amazing social-network-type website where you will find lots of other people who have Alopecia Totalis and Universalis. They might be able to help you with suggestions related to what you can do. Sorry we are unable to help you further and we hope you find a solution :)
I've had alopecia since 1990 when I was in the seventh grade and still have it today and I am 32 years old. I often get it in the very back of my head usually, but rarely in the front of my head or on top. I've received hundreds and hundreds of needles to clear up my bald spots over the last two decades. As I have gotten older, I only get maybe one or two spots a year usually when I am going through a stressful time. I hope this might be useful for someone who is going through this? Best wishes!
@mrwonderfulman2011 Hi, and thank you for your comment. Have you ever tried minoxidil 12.5% cream? This treatment might be helpful to you, without the invasiveness of injections. If you would like further information please do not hesitate to contact The Belgravia Centre through or website - we can send products to most countries.
@TheWinnie2010 Hi Winnie. The Belgravia Centre is a hair loss clinic in London. If however you are not from London, we can send our treatment courses anywhere in the world. Please visit our website (you can find a link under the video, or just type Belgravia Centre in Google) for more information on what we can offer, and either arranging a consultation at our centre or completing our online diagnostic form for home-use treatments.
@lardlizard because we treat a number of different hair loss conditions and have a number of different forms of minoxidil with various doses and booster ingredients. Each hair loss sufferer needs to have a consultation or complete our online consultation form in order for us to diagnose the person's condition and recommend the most effective course of treatment.
@lardlizard that is because Regaine / Rogaine is an off-the-shelf version of minoxidil that is only licensed for genetic hair loss. Belgravia's minoxidil formulations are prescribed individually by our in-house doctor and although the product is not officially licensed for Alopecia Areata, it has worked to clear up the condition in many cases. Pharmaceutical companies have no interest in spending millions on clinical trials for minoxidil on Alopecia Areata because it is not a common condition.
Hi I'm a male with corse hair & I have alopecia areata. It started with a dime sized patch of hair missing from the back of my head after a hair cut. 2 months later more hair fell out and 2 new spot popped up on the right side of my head & face. That was 1 1/2 years ago. I started CMP-Squaric Acid/Acetone treatments last month with no result yet other than a nasty rash that itches like crazy!! Just wanted to see if anyone else out there has used this treatment with positive results. Thanks:-)
@ImSoIntoYou2011 Belgravia's minoxidil 12.5% cream is very effective for alopecia areata patches. Please contact us on 0800 077 6666 or complete our online diagnostic form which can be found on The Belgravia Centre website. You can also find information on the minoxidil 12.5% cream on the website and view photos and success stories of people who have been treated for patchy alopecia areata.
i also have alopecia universalis i have lost most of my hair on my scalp and lost all of my hiar on my brows i have a doctor and go to treatments but doesnt help much what would u suggest me to do please help this is really stressfull!
@tlotiger91 Unfortunately Alopecia Universalis is a very difficult condition to treat and there is not always going to be a treatment that will help. The video provides information on everything available for Alopecia. There is a great website called Alopecia World, which is a huge community of people who have different forms of Alopecia (mostly Totalis / Universalis). There are lots of people on there with the same condition as you that will be able to offer help and advice for the condition.
i have alopecia universalis. it has started to bring back my brows and lashes but not my head. i have given up on any treatments. i am 14. please help!
@kamii0428 Unfortunately our centre does not offer treatments for Alopecia Universalis. If your brows and lashes have come back then that is a good sign, but unfortunately it is difficult to say whether more hair will return as in many cases hair on the head does not. There are many children in the same position as you and a great website to join with many others just like you is alopecia world. It is a social network and you will find many people on there that can offer help and advice.
my mom's hair have started to fall off and in several spots.she bought a wig recently to get ready in advance.they grow back super slowwww and they are becoming more difficult to conceal...
@automaticchic Please ask her to visit The Belgravia Centre website and complete our online diagnostic form using the 'Belgravia Worldwide' tab on the home page. Depending on the severity of her hair loss, our treatments might be able to help.
My severity is rather much 50% of my scalp effected however I have no bald patches anymore , just my natural brown hair and white hair where I used to have patches. This white hair does not accept a colour from dyes etc so its very unsightly. Could 12.5% change the colour of the hair to natural brown and does it stop further hairloss?
@armaghdown1 You would have to speak to a trichologist at the centre. What you can do is complete our online diagnostic form - this will give us a detailed idea of the severity of your condition and the likelihood of our treatments helping. You will be contacted by a member of the Belgravia team once you have submitted the form, which can be found on The Belgravia Centre website by clicking on the 'Belgravia Worldwide' icon on the home page.
Hi. If topical immunatherapy is 25% sucessful for patients with universals or totalis, what is the percentage of sucess of treating the condition with DPCP immunatherapy for the patchy form of alopecia? Nowhere can I find this answer, maybe somebody knows.
@armaghdown1 how severe is your condition? It is very unlikely topical immunotherapy would be necessary - this is generally only advised for extreme cases of alopecia as it can cause serious side effects. Minoxidil 12.5% + Azelaic Acid cream has been very successful for patchy alopecia.
@BelgraviaCentre I see I watched it already, but I really Looking forward to have hair again. I will never lose hope. Thanks for the info. It was Nice being a bald.
@jeanmichael02 Unfortunately there is no cure for Alopecia Totalis (total hair loss on the scalp) or Universalis (total hair loss on the body and scalp). There are currently no licensed treatments for either of these conditions but it is possible for the hair to grow back on its own because the follicles are lying dormant but are not damaged in any way. For more details please watch the video above.
@wahem1@wahem1 Could you please visit The Belgravia Centre website (link provided underneath the video, or you can just search Google) and complete our online diagnostic form (click on the 'home use service' link in the menu). It would also help if you send photos to our email address, which can be found on the 'contact us' page. Once we have all of this we will be able to offer a prognosis and inform you how likely our treatments are to work. We look forward to hearing from you.
@jeanmichael02 Unfortunately we do not specialise in treatment for Alopecia Totalis or Universalis. There are currently no licensed treatments to treat either of these conditions but it is possible for the hair to grow back on its own because the follicles are lying dormant but are not damaged in any way.
Hello recently (2months ago) I noticed the patches of hair loss. I went to the doctor and i did not listen to what he was saying as i tought it was a fungus or something on me and i figured it would go away in a few days. now i did all the research and am now aware that this might affect me for the rest of my life is that true? As a child i did not have Alopecia Areata. until now in my early 30's i also read that it might be passed on through my genes to my kids. Is that true?
@Blanco150 With patchy alopecia it's possible the bald patches will clear up on their own but the correct treatment can also be very effective to ensure best chances of regrowth. At Belgravia we use our own minoxidil cream formulation which patients find to be very effective in many cases. Alopecia is something that might recur throughout your life but it is unlikely that the condition will become more severe (totalis or universalis) if it has not already so I would say don't worry too much!
@lardlizard This depends on the individual. Some men or women will not experience recurrence of patchy hair loss after the condition has been cleared up. We have treated hundreds, maybe thousands of cases of alopecia areata with minoxidil 12.5%, and there are many cases where patches have not returned.
@lardlizard You are correct that none of the treatments are a 'cure'. They can however clear up the condition temporarily or permanently in some cases, but there is always a chance the condition will recur.
Hi I am one of the kid who have this disease, I have this since I was 12years old from now(Im 15 getting 16 at july), I really want to grow my hair. Any tips guys?
@Kazzi3C for more information on what can be done please visit our alopecia areata page. To do this go to The Belgravia Centre website (listed under the video) and click on the 'other hair loss conditions' link in the menu on the right. Then choose 'Alopecia Areata'.
@daleholm i know how you feel, i am 19, and its so uncomfortable, i feel so ashamed to go to a hair salon, because other people dont understand. I have had ppl stare and point when i go to salons, when the wind blows i am always afraid someone might see my patch, right now i have one the size of the palm of my hand near my ear, and another one less than an inch from the front of my head, i ahve been wearing weaves but i dont know how much longer i will be able to hide them...sigh
I can relate, I'm 23 years old and have had random cases of alopecia since my freshman year of high school. During that time (and sometimes now), it hasbeen hard not to be self conscious about appearance. I do what I can to cover my patches when I have them.
@cudder2313 Unfortunately the only possibly effective treatment for Universalis is topical immunotherapy. Details are provided in the video. It is however possible that hair can regrow at any time as the hair follicles are dormant but not damaged.
@cudder2313.. hi i got AU too.. Im reading about chinese herbs and trying them..they believe the body rejects hair because of kidney/liver deficiency causing poor blood nutrients and blood stasis.. the body's 1st reaction is to start rejecting hair.. kinda like a tree in autumn shedding leaves to prepare for less nutrients in winter..An internal defieciency 1st shows up in the less important regions like the skin, nails and hair.. notice the pitting of nails? try ' Ho shou wu' and 'Sheng Fa'..
@anthonyrey1545 It is possible for children to experience Alopecia Areata. Unfortunately none of the treatments mentioned in the video are suitable for children under the age of 16. As stated, it is always possible for the hair to grow back without treatments as the follicles do not become damaged, only dormant. The more severe the case, the less likely the chances of regrowth.
@iliveforthemoment Alopecia Areata does not cause any physical pain and has no relation to cancer so there is no need for you to worry about any of those things.
@sarahElhagry88 Alopecia is successfully treatable if mild, or in the early stages. The Belgravia Pharmacy produces a minoxidil 12.5% cream that we find to be highly successful in regrowing hair for patchy alopecia. You can find more information and see before/after photos and success stories on The Belgravia Centre website (use the link in the video description). More severe alopecia, such as totalis or universalis is more difficult to treat, but hair could grow back spontaneously at any time.
Alopecia areata can easily be treated.
