hey guys, sorry to bother, i need to change my water pum in my 2.8 2000 that is licking water, so i should replace the timing belt as well but is there need to change more stuff, i mean since im gonna take the front off should i change something else, i found this kit with (Timing Belt, Timing Belt Roller, Timing Belt Tensioner, Serpentine Belt, Thermostat, Timing Belt Tensioner Dampner, and Belt Tensioner Lever)so is there need of all that and/or something else since i have the front off? thx.
by the ways,,, sorry to ask again,,, i cant find the special tool but also im wondering if do i really need it? i mean im very sure that it hasnt (jumped timing/out of time) so do i really need that tool or can i just make some marks? thanks, i would apreciate help... thanks a lot...
Looking over the repair manual of course is says you need the cam locating bar. but i would think you would be able to make identifying marks to align cams back up to. We will also rent the tool out if needed. security deposit and mailing fee
when your cams are lined up, does the arrow on the plastic behind the damper pulley line up? or is the engine tdc with cams aligned? I have the arrow and mark on pulley.TIA
damper pulley notch lines up with front plastic timing cover arrow. cam gear large hole for securing plate are pointed in. need ast 3391 tool to hold cams in proper position.
