  • cinematography looks beautiful. I'm excited to see the 'making of' haha.

  • 2 words to describe my frustation about this movie - morse code!

  • 1:00 She is one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen. What is her name?

  • @Laoch111

Marie-Josée Croze. IMDB is your friend my friend.

  • @1337Munkey Thanks!

  • i read the book he wrote by blinking. It's a horrrible thing that this happened to him.

  • I recently saw this film, it made me thankful for what I have and not to take those who love me for granted. It take seconds for your life to change forever. Best film I've seen in ages. Be humble, be kind to each other, help each other and don't quarrel over petty things-life is too short.

  • the simpsons just did this

  • we watched this movie in class, I am gonna write about uncle Bauby.

  • great movie, terrible trailer. doesn't catch the atmosphere at all

  • I thought the video said "Taco Bell Trailer" *sigh*

  • I watched this flim on an Air france flight to Delhi from Paris. It took me 2 weeks to get this moovie. Watched it 10 times . Screened it for Physiotherpists in my hospital. I have no word to describe how complete the moovie is , and how smatly this is made. Just AMAZING ! God bless the team .

  • This is the most astonishing movie ever made, with such a touching music..I think that is one of the rare gems of the contemporary cinema.. Everybody in the world should see it..

  • @YirumaSan Julian Schnabel is an amazing director. Hard to believe that he went from painting to directing. Obviously, they are both artistic fields and similar in that, but at the same time different, yet, he did the transition so seamlessly. He's very talented. Another awesome movie by Schnabel is "Before NIght Falls."

  • @Rayarena He is a very good director, though i thought as an artist he was pretty shit.

  • thank you for posting this trailer, mainly because I have been looking for a youtube video of the scene where mathieu amalric is driving down a street of paris, the music playing 'darling these chains of love wont set me free, chains of love wont let me be...'-- one of my most favourite scenes of cinema. It s a dream of driving away and feeling free.

  • that looks so cool

  • the most favorite movie

  • ok so this told me nothing about the movie...

  • @UrSmilesMakeMeSmile It's really good. There you go. Go watch it.

  • Weird movie......

  • @MrGirlfucker have you seen this movie at all? it is not werid, it's a touching and deep story that is based on a true event, imagine if you have locked in syndrome, (completely paralyzed, with the exception of one eye) what would you do in order to escape the confines of an innate body? the answer is your imagination and will.

  • just ordered this, cant wait to see it

  • "My Body is a Cage" would have been an excellent choice of music for this movie. Peter Gabriel's cover version of Arcade Fire's tune.

  • @aragee thanx for the U2 song Ultraviolet its realllllly great song :D

  • at 1:17 i really need to know the music i didn't find it at the soundtrack of the movie can anyone please help me :)

  • @mohammadalebsi:

Ultra Violet (Light My Way)" - performed by U2

  • @aragee sorry but it dident match i want the music at the end of the trailer

  • @mohammadalebsi its explosions in the sky, your hand in mine

  • @mohammadalebsi 'Le Scaphandre et le Papillon'/'The Diving Bell & The Butterfly' Soundtrack tracklist 1. Charles Trenet - La Mer 2. The Dirtbombs - Chains of Love 3. Tom Waits - All the World Is Green 4. U2 - Ultra Violet (Light My Way) 5. Ultra Orange & Emmanuelle - Don't Kiss Me Goodbye 6. The Velvet Underground - Pale Blue Eyes 7. Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros - Ramshackle Day Parade 8. Paul Cantelon - Theme For the Diving Bell and the Butterfly
  • @rapstreetz

You, sir, are a ****ing moron

  • Explosions in the sky - Your hand in mine <3

  • love this movie!! so sad! we watched it in french!! gonna read the book next... i love him and its so sad how it all ends

  • @NOrightTOjudgeME wow. thanks for blowing the ending. Guess I won't watch it now.

  • this was a true story ppl x( made me cry

  • this movie makes me appreciate life...

  • trapped in this body and i just can't get out

  • trapped in this body and i just can't get out

  • Definitely should have used Hoppipola instead of Explosions in the Sky

  • @KillBill2020 no. Hoppipola is used in so many trailers. a very corny and lame choise.

  • @KillBill2020 No please no! I'm tired of the corny ass song.

  • With just the music and heartbeats, the trailer left have left me speechless.

  • Seriously, incredible film - hope they don't do a Hollywood remake.

  • Extraordinary film. Mesmerising

  • if this happened to me i'd listen to an epic amount of music

  • #OMG

  • My all time favorite film.

  • I really liked this movie one of my fav foreign films I want to see Enter The Void next :)

  • @queenmother123 enter the void is too good, thats why I'm here lol

  • explosions in the sky!

  • i love this film, especially seeing the mans point of view, its amazing

  • Such an amazing story so touching every thing about it is amazing its it flawless

  • The women are beautiful in this film...

It's not a bad watch either.

  • I thought No Country for Old Men was a fantastic, great film, and I think it deserved Best Picture. But no one did a better job directing a film in 2007 than Julian Schnabel with this.

  • This is a great movie. Within the first 15 minutes I was starting to freak out from feeling claustrophobic. You are unwillingly suspended in his point of view. . .not such a great feeling but you do get a thorough understanding of the gravity that one would suffer from "locked in syndrome"

  • I can see how some people would like it but for me, I had to watch this on three separate occasions so I wouldn't fall asleep xD

  • This movie changed my life.

  • One of the hardest movies i have seen in my life.I saw this movie, when i had a randevous with a girl(we shouldn`t go for this movie),it was 2 years ago,but i still remember whole movie, like i saw it yeasterday.

This movie tells - enjoy your life, till you got that chance !

  • I hate when people ask this but what is the song they used in the trailer?

  • @FilthyReech Explosions in the sky, I don't remember what song.

  • @FilthyReech Your Hand In Mine by Explosions In The Sky. You should definitely check out their other music too, it's truly beautiful.

  • @FilthyReech Expolosions in the Sky - Your Hand in Mine

  • true masterpiece

  • This is one of the most beautiful movies i've ever seen.

    The story is so sad..

    <3

  • awesome movie

  • 0 dialogue in the trailer? nice way to hide that it's a french movie .... seriously people suck. FUCK i hate marketing

  • @PAGATY

what's wrong with it being in french? if you just turn the subtitles on then it's perfectly simple to understand what's going on.

  • @PAGATY subtitles don't really work with trailers.

  • this movie is great...touches ur heart

  • whats the song when he was walking in Lourdes at night

  • Songs names:

0:07-0:36: The Dirtbombs - Chains Of Love

0:45-1:15: Ultra Orange Emmanuelle - Don't Kiss Me Goodbye

1:17-2:13: Explosions In The Sky - Your Hand In Mine

  • @Safaraportugal

Thank you so much, I was searching for this and you got that all in one !

    Kisses from Slovakia ;)

  • The most incredible movie I've ever seen...and I'm 51 years old. Everyone in it is mesmerizing, but Max Von Sydow earns a special mention in one of the most powerful scenes ever put on the silver screen. This movie is beautiful, poignant and full of hope.

  • So you can see this movie for free at Big Movie Dir . com (it's free!!)

  • ever been in a diving bell as a butterfly?

I tell you the world is bigger.

  • @carleneralon30

The fact that the film didn't come out in 2009 kinda blows your cover...

  • @Eladas334

the movie came out in 2007, saw it in the theatre.

  • i loved the movie but i never read the book cuz im 11

  • You can't read books because you're eleven?

  • couple years ago when this film came out i was sitting in barnes and noble and stumbled upon the book i had a couple hours to kill so i read it right there in the store i fell in love, the next week i got the movie, loved it even more this is an amazing true story, film, and book. recommended to anyone.

  • Explosions in the sky, cool. Just about to watch this film

  • i hope i find the dvd when i go search for it later on since my country didn't even play it in the theatre when it came out.

  • I saw the movie and loved it. Decided to buy the book, also loved it. Though it was not a very comfortable read, it was well worth it. I also cried, haha. J'adore! c:

  • Hi. what is the book?, I think I may go online and buy it via Amazon

  • its called the diving bell and the butterfly =)

  • @xXRageBabeXx Yea I know what the film is called, one of the songs is by a band called Explosions In The Sky..

  • if a trailer uses explosions in the sky, you know they're doing it right.

  • @iwuvpanda worrdd

  • @iwuvpanda that just made my day :)

  • @iwuvpanda I agree but which song was theirs? I got the first two, but where was EITS?

  • @iwuvpanda If a trailer uses Explosions in the Sky, you know the movie's going to break your heart.

  • I liked it very much.

  • of the 441 films I watched this year - this was #1

  • great movie !

its hard to watch, but its amazing movie.

  • thnk u soo much

  • can you tell me the title of the second song of the trailer? thnks

  • your hand in mine- explosions in the sky

  • Dont Kiss Me Goodbye by Ultra Orange and Emmanuelle

  • i think i cried when i first watched this film. it's truly brilliant!

  • Stop fucking advertising

  • if you guys look at the video response i uploaded the film

  • Can you out English subs?

  • As a speech-language pathologist, also French but working in the U.S. I can verify that this film was brilliantly portrayed. I've encountered only once a patient with the (rare) Locked-In Syndrome and we utilized the spelling method demonstrated in the film. It was gut-wrentching and arduous but a gift to his family and friends. I need to watch the French version now! I will recommend this to my graduate student interns for their training and insight. Thanks to all for this film.

  • Is this movie brilliant?

  • Yes, don't you think so?

  • Whats the Song that starts at 1:20?

Isnt it the same band that does music for the TV show Friday Night Lights?

  • I don't know the song name but the band is Explosions in the Sky

  • The song is called "Your Hand in Mine"

  • explosions in the sky - your hand in mine

  • such an amazing movie! loved the book too!

  • Christ I love this film

  • this is one of my favorites. hands down.

  • just uploaded this movie on my channel if anyony is interested

  • nice one! thank you.

  • im studying that book in english

  • Whats the song that starts at :45?

  • @ 0:45 it's "Don't Kiss Me Goodbye" by Ultra Orange & Emmanuelle

  • amazing

  • Explosions In The Sky!!!

  • i love this movie and explosions in the sky.

  • It really is the most sad but truely brilliant book.

  • have you read it? how is it?amazing how someone with locked-in syndrome actually wrote a full length BOOK!

  • It's a great book :)I think it's because you're thinking all the way through it how incredible it is that he dictated it. It's well written as well and he describes what it's like to have the syndrome and how it feels to see his children but not speak to them and things. It's very good.

  • I cried while watching this movie because I remembered my mother when she got stroke and needed to be confined in the hospital. But it's too late. Thanks for this movie.

  • Just a brilliant film. One of my favorites.

  • Great movie, but in the book he never speaks to the man he gave his airplane seat to.

  • I have just watched it . Its a brilliant and exceptional film..

  • It's the first time I see a film that is better than the trailer. Not like all the crap american movies, that sell you lies in their trailers, and then you're so disapointed with the movie.

  • Wow, one person not watching this movie, that is really going to affect it's reputation, and yeah i live in the US and its pretty easy to see propganda in the movies...

  • Fantastic film, despite it's inaccuracies. The novel reveals the truths, such as how Jean-dominique really only had two children.

  • i loved the movie

  • i watched this last night its brilliant but its sad because he has a stroke

  • looks pretty good

  • It is very good. One of the best films of the decade thus far and the most inspirational film since The Elephant Man

  • i love french films. sbs is my hero for that ;)

  • what is sbs?

  • sbs is a tv channel, over here in australia.. it plays a lot of world movies and cool documentaries.. i dig it

  • excellent french movie

  • I can't believe explosions in the sky, your hand in mine is played in this trailer. Good song. I can't wait to see this movie.

  • No guesses as to why this trailer doesn't reveal that it is in a foriegn language.

  • I know, at my University we had a spring festival and this was the main attraction. I am not usually interested in foreign language films but I stayed. However, when I first realized it was in french I thought of leaving. Thank god I didn't, truly great film.

  • I am Moved ...

  • SOUNDS GOOD!

  • nice music

  • Working for the Film Industry has enabled me to watch thousands of films and I must say that this movie is one of the best I''ve seen in the last ten years. A true master piece.

  • now i read the book it's amazing ......must read the book. I want to see the movie also.......

  • this was an AMAZING MOVIE

  • made me appreciate and value my life more. this movie is so beautiful.

  • Just saw this for the first time yesterday, and it's now my favorite. They shot it excellently.

I love the artist values inside of it.

  • When I rented this for the first time, I was looking at the back of the package and a famous critic called the film

    "The rebirth of the Cinema."

As a film lover and aspiring filmaker, I knew what the critic meant by it, but I wasn't ready to believe it. After seeing this film only once, I can now agree. It has been a long hiatus for films that posses a true imagination and that get the viewer deeply involved in that imagination. To anyone who is reading this, see this film. Perfection.

  • I'd even say rebirth of Seeing.

  • This movie was amazing.<3

  • We watched it in medical class yesterday, ohh myy gosh, what a movie....Its one of the most touching, moving, sad, emotional, wake-up movies i've watched, i was almost paralysed to my chair. We've been out on clinical practises in old people's homes, hopitals and all that and yes we've come in contact with patients with similar cases but seeing it through a patient's view was an eye-opener to a lot of things we neglect and take for granted. R.I.P Jean-Dominique Bauby.
