  • You could pull 2 power tubes and adjust the speaker impedance.

  • YEAH MAN!!! someone else who thinks what everyone else says about this thing is bullshit!

  • Hey was just wondering...are you tuned down to drop B?

  • true about the volume thing. sometimes amps dont sound as great until you turn the damn thing UP AND BLOW UP YOUR FUCKEN PLACE

  • hey man.if It is so important that you get the volume up to about 6 or 7 for this thing to work it's magic, what about master volume?shall it have the same result when the master is at 2 as it would be at 6?sorry for my english

  • Nice Shirt man! And....a very nice tone. You've inspired me to track my KranK rev1 and try get this tone you got going on. Ha, I like the KranK fortress....you do need one if you own a KranK, for sure. First session I had with mine...Kranked it...and things started falling off the Shelves, vibrated the hell out of the Jam room. So I had to send the krank out side, in another room, with padded walls..the "Psych Ward". Lesson Learned.

  • dude get a band and get a vocalist youve got some sick riffs.

  • I knew that sleeping with the amp under my bed wasnt that strange..

  • How do you get the sound you hear in actual songs, like shown here? (Whenever I play these in a store it sounds all fuzzy.)

  • @fluffyninjas its because when you record an amp twice (one right, one left) and then you throw in some drums and some bass it completely changes the way the amp sounds. plus, the mic he's using (sm57) changes the sound a tad bit.

  • OH SHIIIT!! Dude, that riff from the start to 0:18 is one of the sickest riffs I've ever heard. Please tab that shit out.

  • When are you going to finish this song? ...

Also, I went through some of Lamb of God's stuff and couldn't find anything that sounds like the first half of your recording

  • what tuning were you in?

  • LOL "word! word!"

  • Nice shirt

  • You look exactly like Jason from Born of Osiris

  • Hmmm.....indeed WORD

  • dude get yourself a "THD HoTplate".. totally solve your problem.. nice sound...

  • lol i do the same so i can record at night

  • Word, indeed.

  • dude make a dethklok cover vid xDXDXD DO IT!

  • Sick riffs,very nice equipment

  • whats the name of the first song?

  • your a drummer with a 3k dollar guitar setup? you're lucky....

  • it realy is a good amp,and like any tube amp you have to really push the volume.Welcome to the krank family duder

  • fucking killer tone, no wonder dime used this.

    and nice composition.

  • whats the song at the end?

  • @1230hagen It was the very first song I recorded using this setup. I make those kind of riffs to boost my recording self-esteem. When your chugging away on the lowest string like that it's easier to trick yourself into thinking you've got brutal tone.

  • @Derpasherpala yeah thats true haha well either way it sounds sick.

  • @Derpasherpala i have one of these amps mine sounds fucking horrible what did u do mic it and eq it traded a peavey 5150 for it and the 5150 was even more horrible

  • @leatherface7771 you just suck at getting a good tone out of it, after figuring out my 5150, it rapes any other amp.

  • this is amazing

  • Nice Death shirt.

  • 5150+ sounds better in my opinion, but engl takes it all

  • Dude, you're a f*cking beast. Keep those devil horns up! RIP D.D. We'll keep shredding in your spirit!

  • i just got a krankenstein+ head and paired it with two of the krank dime cabs for a full stack. Sounds really great in this vid, what are your settings on this vid approximately? Anyone have any settings they would share? Thanks!!

  • @p3dsman Hmm... I actually never wrote down the settings I used in this video; its usually just a turn it till it sounds good mindset. However I think on this one I had the presence up instead of the treble, and the bass pretty low. I programmed a distorted bass in the song to fill out the bottom end and give the guitar more aggression. The only thing I can say with any real confidence about the settings in this vid, is that the sweep was at around 3. I was really into that. Not so much anymore.

  • @p3dsman Ive learned that one of the best ways to use the EQ is to set everything at 5. Then turn just the sweep and presence. It keeps your tone sounding solid, but the sweep moves it around to what you want (scooped mid or more mids) Ive always thought it worked well.

  • @ChrisTheShreddist

You got that one from Fearedse.

  • @Shyuum I don't even know who that is. But to me, it's the best way to get a decent tone out of it. Otherwise it just sounds unbalanced when you move the sweep knob.

  • @ChrisTheShreddist

    *rollseyes*

  • @Shyuum Wait, I see him. I saw his ENGL demo.

As far as I've seen, he's never done a demo on the Krankenstein.

  • @ChrisTheShreddist

Eh, Yeah but I never said anything about it o_O

    Good day bro.

  • some parts really remind me of gojira. sick riffs man.

  • Haha. Good ears with picking that up! The riff that starts at 0:19 seconds, I was completely thinking of Gojira when I made that. Those chords are just sort of the ones from World To Come rehashed in a different way. The Faceless also uses those chords to death.

  • Which Krankenstein are you playing through?

  • The last model with the 6L6's.

  • So the plus then?

  • Is that the plus? The one I have is not the plus. It's the model they released right before the plus... I really would like to try one of those plus models though...

  • Oh cool. I have the original also. Reason I asked is because I cant get a decent sound out of mine. If I turn it below 5, I don't get quite enough gain. If I turn it above 5, I lose my mids and it just doesn't get a good tone. Any tips?

  • @guitargod250 Yo dude, I see you wana beef up your tone? I have a tip, ok most guitarist use tube screamers or overdrive pedals. Try combining the pedal with the gain channel on the amp and I would also recommend a noise gate or noise surppressor. You will need it because of humming coming from pedals or the cables. Message me if you want more info on how to set your pedals up with the amp!

  • @archenemyowns *facepalm* a tubescreamer plus a high gain channel will not beef up your tone. It will tighten it up which is essentially the opposite. It sucks out some bass and adds some presence/treble. If you want to beef up your tone, get an oversized cab, and turn up the bass. a tubescreamer is the exact opposite of what you want if your amp is sounding small. don't get me wrong, tubescreamers are great to tighten up bass and add clarity, but they are not what you want at all to beef up.

  • @1230hagen Precisely, which is why I use a tubescreamer with my Mesa Roadster + Recto cab. Tightens it up in the low end a lot.

  • @oJinxx yup. That guy's just trying to sound smart, and he has no idea what he's talking about.

  • @Derpasherpala now with 6550's?

  • Sounds great, I just got this amp today, any chance you want to share some of that metal tone? ROCK ON!

  • You Can Hear The New Krankenstein Jr. 50Watt On My Channel. Rate And Comment. You Can Also See And Hear It At Krank's Youtube Channel.

  • how did you get such a clean sounding recording !?

  • @FallIntoWinterr I'm betting Pro Tools. I got Pro Tools LE and if you know how to use it properly and mic everything up properly, you can get some amazing results.

  • @minidavb you should be able to get a clean sound out of any program (except perhaps audacity :P) such as reaper, but he must be using some plugin or hardware that is making his sound so smooth

  • @minidavb exactly!!!its all about where you put the mic,and how you set up the eq

  • I can't argue with that. I just look at as a quality product with a hefty price tag.

  • I own an Apple laptop, and I can tell you the quality of the programming in their products far surpasses Microsoft. Sure, on paper they both look the same, and most PC laptops have faster hardware... but that isn't the point. The point is the quality that, when putting hundreds of hours in, totally shine through and end up saving many hours more.

As for Krank... you're paying for the quality tone, on top of the hardware.

  • in my opinnion, macs are THE way to go for recording.

  • @iselldummysmacks What kind of equipment, though? I have lots, and yes, few have costed as much as a Krank amp. But, few of the pro items I own are as powerful and important. All good amps are expensive— Peavey, Marshall, etc

  • @iselldummysmacks They're professional tools

  • Thanks! As to which LOG song I rehashed. Well its no song in particular, but it just takes that Lamb of God form in general. The structure of the note choices and rhythms sort of follow that LOG sound. I'll try and finish the song, I just can't quite yet nail cohesive transitions or make the song feel like it has a purpose.

Sorry man, I didn't remove your comment, my youtube account freaks out and removes comments at random. I still don't know why...

  • It's still there :) I deleted the first one, that way both paragraphs were easily noticed

  • On another note... what are your thoughts on the pressure that's possibly caused by your sound suppression?

  • The pressure? As in the rumbling going on outside the guitar fort, or the pressure inside? I am not sure about the inside, but the outside still rumbles pretty good. I've been wanting to buy some diy bass trap materials to stop all of that low frequency rumbling. As far as how much Sound Pressure is being knocked down, I cant really even begin to imagine. When you go from 2 to 3 on this amps volume, it tears your head off. I'm now running this at 8 and I can stand in front of it comfortably.

  • Interesting. What kind of materials are you using to dampen the sound? Also, if you can comfortably stand in front of volume 8, why have the amp and guitar in the next room?

  • I'm laying plywood along the sides of the cabinet. Then I lay sofa cushions along the sides of the plywood. Then I put pillows and jackets and blankets in various areas, I push two couches up against the back, and then drape the whole thing with three comforters! Since the main goal of this is getting the best recorded tone, I put it in the other room so that the only thing I hear is what the mic picks up in my monitors and change the amp settings based on it.

  • Cool. Thanks for the info. And let me know what you do with that one riff... it's KILLER!!

  • What kind of speaker cab did you use?

  • This was the mesa boogie cabinet. I didn't really like the sound of the krank cabinet; a bit to fizzy, but now that I think back to it, I probably thought that because the power section wasn't working very hard, and I didn't have the ohms set up properly.

  • What kind of tubes are in the power section, i'm thinking 6L6 or 6550? I'm not sure....?

  • The first generation of the stein had 6l6. The new Stein+ has 6550's and slightly different transformers.

  • awesome thanks for your reply. on this video with your head, was that the 6L6's or 6550's?

  • this isnt my video, but the head in the video looks like the original Version with the 6L6's. I can tell from the krank logo, cus the originals had a smaller logo.

  • Thanks for answering DB73093. I couldn't really figure out what tubes were in this amp because the amp was at my guitar players house. Yeah this is the 2nd version of this amp. NOT the newest one with 6550's (the krankenstein+). The first one was apparently from one account I've heard, way better than this one, but I doubt it.

    But yeah, there 6L6's.

  • Kickass man, you just made me want the amp even more!

  • sounding great bro !! good mastering too !

  • Nice ear on the mastering! I didn't know if anyone would notice, (apart from it being louder than similar youtube videos.) Metal songs to me always sound a bit strange if they are not compressed and limited to hell, so I felt like I needed to apply a little bit of my own pseudo-mastering to it. Ha, I really have no idea what I am doing when I master. :)

  • for a drummer, youre a damn good guitarist, even if you wernt a drummer, you would stll be a damn good guitarist.

  • Thanks man, although ha, I'm going to disagree. If I do another one of these tone videos, I'm definitely getting one of the guitarist from my band to record it. Those guys can shred!

  • very good job!! I've got the same amp. What are your settings? it sounds great!! \w/

  • Thanks a lot man. I didn't write down the settings but as I remember it, I had presence at around 7 or so, gain around 7, bass at 3 or 4, treble at around 4 or 5, sweep at 3, and the mid would just be a wild guess. Maybe at like 6? I guess it wasn't all that smart of me to make an amp tone video and not write down the settings. :)

I strive to find a perfect balance with the pres and treb, and where I place the sweep control. Once you master those knobs, you tone is killer!

  • i thought it was the other way around...but whatev. what's funny is one of the dudes from as i lay dying said he kranks the other master volume and not so much the other....hmmm

  • Oh yeah sorrry! I wasn't thinking straight. The volume I am talking about is the one on the left, right next to the presence. I think I had master 1 (the one on the right) on about 1 and a half for this clip. Thanks for the correction! Definitely don't crank up the master 1 or 2 louder than the one right next to the presence knob. That sounds like absolute crap!

  • by the power tubes section you mean the main master? or master 1 & 2...btw, it sounds great!

  • Thanks!

    Yeah, the main master.
