I believe it's very unlikely that someone is going to film a fight lasting about 5-6 seconds. after that the attacker is most likely to be immobilized already, besides most attacks on the streets aren't predictable.
ive been in street fights and i have been training krav maga almost 3 years, if you study it then fight, you will use bit and peices, but these bits and peices will be enough, remeber krav maga is based around boxing, wrestling etc many others.
this is great but I want to see a demo of the martial artist attacking first, not defending after an attack. In real life, sometimes we have to throw the first punch, any recommendations??
I agree, bursting in on an attacker is an offensive measure as well as a defensive measure.... Not to mention the psychological effect it has on the attacker(victim ;-) by engaging the fight....
Guys have been doing over 10 years combined of karate and boxing. I have started KM one year ago and believe this is the most efficient and direct way of self defence. Can highly recommend it.
This is a demo. do you want to see an attacker slowly try to recover from a devastative defensive attack and try again? These are used to demonstrate technique, not to train technique!
There is no showing off in the video, these are all things we train regularly in Krav Maga. The guy is quick, sure, but the techniques he uses are all very basic (except for the high kick in the end). And yes, we've even trained the blind defense. It's a bit scary, but you do get your adrenaline up.
sorry it was late and i couldnt think of a better term. what i meant was if they didnt try to hit through the target and just landed quick hits moving in and out, keeping your opponent at a distance, like a boxer. i am sure the krav maga guy could could catch a punch or kick, or even advance to grab the opponent, but there is also a good chance that the guy could be to fast peppering the guy with hits, and if the krav maga guy moved in then he could be walking into a really big hit.
obviously that is just an exhibition, and you couldnt really have a full fledged fight with the moves you find in Krav Maga, someone would get something broken. but i do think i see a weakness, it is very close combat, much taijutsu and systema. i just wonder if someone was able to keep them at a long range, they could be beaten
Attacking someone trained heavily in Krav Maga by trying to keep back will not work because those fighters are trained to keep coming at their attacker, using whatever. You might land a quick hit in, but they'll counter it by some of their bows and knees.
but no matter who you are or what you have trained in, charging at someone is always a disadvantage. that is also why countering is so well loved, much safer
Hmm, I dont like the fact the he uses so many "fine" defenses. I say fine because if you are attacked the adrenaline dump you recieve knocks most thinking and FINE motor skills out of the ring. If he had used more elbows, knees, and low kicks I think it would have been a better demonstration. Also most people attacking you are not expecting a hit to the groin or face, they are looking for victims, not expecting a fighter. So to stand there stupid for a second is more realistic.
builder20: KM also trains in the psychology of combat, especially dealing with a sudden attack out of nowhere, being stunned, hit, or/and confusion. I know of no other martial art or combat system that addresses both the physical and psychological aspects of combat.
Oh I agree whole heartedly. I train with KM in Germany, and before that I trained in Arizona. But for demonstration purposes I like the gross motor skill defenses. They reveal the soul of KM better. At least in my opinion anyway.

Are there any videos on youtube where Krav Maga is used in a real fight? And I mean a real life fight, not like a demo like this???

Not a very goog demonstration. As far as I know, krav maga doesn't recommend walking backwards when you're being attacked...
