  • THANKS MAN!

i have just got my first acoustic guitar(i'm a bass player) and i just had to play this after Kurt did that cover

THX I have learned is in one night :D

  • nice work! aha you even sound like kurt man thats cool stuff

  • lol I sound like him huh? I've been planning on doing more lessons on like Nirvana, STP, and Alice in Chains just been lazy. should be doing an acoustic cover of Nirvana's Polly soon too one of my favs and easy to play

  • awesome.thanks!!!

  • thanks for the nice tutorial. you were very clear and even though i'm not very confidant (as i'm just a beginner) i look forward to practicing this.

  • hey your welcome. If you understand how to practice correctly and you take the time to practice at the right speed and form, it does not matter if you are a beginner or not you will eventually reach your goal. good luck!

  • I LOVE IT

  • what level would you classify this as? beginner?

  • @tacosareradd I mean it is all relative to the player, but a beginner should be confident to be able to learn and play this song with some practice.

  • so ... how do you do the lick?

  • @Fitzosu89 Its just 0-2-3 on the E string after the first chord (Em) if thats the beginning lick you are referring to, and the rest you can kinda just listen to what he does. The chord structure doesn't change from what I taughty really Kurt just plucks the string in a certain order. Listening to it to figure it out on your own will also help you learn the chord and help learning to playing by ear. good luck

  • hah nice shirt i have that same t-shirt as well. anyway nice video learned alot from this.

  • you aren't using the right fingers

  • That is the way that is comfortable for me and easy for beginners. As long as the right notes are played and sound out, it is more of a matter of comfort and personal preference. However, I guess everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

  • @alwayza9er great vid man! i really dont know how to read chords (embarassing I know) but the way u showed the frets and strings really helped! thanks man!

  • @ChanceCovington13 ask 1000 guitarists, famous or not, how they play stuff and few of them will play everything in exactly the same way . there is no real "this is right, this is wrong". I finger my power chords in more than one way, it depends what I'm playing and what comes before or after the chord in question. Music theory is largely written n stone and rigid, but how we apply it is personal preference.

  • I love You

  • fuck this is the best lesson ever for this awesome song!!!!!!

    very easy too easy

    R.I.P. Kurt Cobain

  • I HAVE YOUR T-SHIRT HAHAHAHA VERY GOOD COVER THANKS

  • Really nice lesson.

Just a little tipp if someones struggling with the muting in the song: try using your index finger to mute. Its pretty natural because you would always use that finger if you played the full chord.

  • awesome your video is great you are a great teacher. thanx

  • thanks corakan, with all the positive feedback I think I will put up some more lessons of acoustic songs I like

  • @alwayza9er id really like that

  • great video! easy to understand

  • thank you I'm glad you got it. keep learning new songs and let me know if you have any requests

  • cool man nice vid can kinda play it now!"The song is tuned a 1/2 step down into Eb standard"?do i just like tune down? or what?

  • glad to hear it. basically you tune all the string down a half step each, or one fret.

  • and you just repeat that to the whole song? or there's something more?

  • this is the best guitar lesson i have had so far! cheers!

  • you really helped me man

    THANKS !

  • Thanks man! BIG help. Most people dont show the strumming pattern.

  • great, youre wearing same kind of nirvana shirt as i am right now! :D seriously, awesome

  • that power chord is what i have the most trouble with......

  • honestly that will just come with practice and developing hand and finger strength. just make sure to focus more on perfect form rather than playing up to speed. Move slowly with correct form and practice regularly and it will eventually come to you naturally. good luck!

  • @ThatsWhatTheySay1 ahaha thanks man, been playing a month of guitar and now i got the barre chord down too, pretty easy, nice lesson, trying to add the fancy lick in the middle he does too lol. Thanks!

  • lmao , i have the same guitar ,

    nice work ;)

  • thnx for showing the strum pattern.not everyone realizes that a lot of us beginners have retarted fingers when it comes to strumming pattens.Cheers!

  • hey your welcome! I just wanted to make sure that even beginners could learn how to play, so I'm glad it worked out

  • @alwayza9er Hi, amm im watching this video and i see the change its amm how i can say?? its at the start D UDUD and after just UDUD but i think in the change u have to do in the last down or not??? Its Em D UDUD, UDU and here is where have to go the change of chords, on the last Down u change to Am and the same with the other chords or not? I dont know, i have that question

  • @alwayza9er are you strumming every string???

  • grat vid i experimented a little with teh struming and i got it rihgt

  • Love the lesson AND the shirt dude. I was thinking about getting one, but i got a Hendrix one instead :P

    Oh well, next time!

  • This is extremely helpful, especially for people like me who are teaching themselves and have really no idea to begin to learn chords, songs, etc. This is probably the best and most helpful videoI've encountered. Thanks for sharing with all of us! :) Definitely share more, if you could.

    Peace and love.

  • dude awsome job and thanx sooooooo much for breaking it down annndddd showing the strum pattern no one ever does! u should make more how to videos dude!!!!

  • dude you should play power chords with your ring finger and kurt adds his pinky to a 3 string power chord

  • yeah, I just wanted to keep it easy and some people might have had trouble with that

  • @CommentBuzzer for real i was confused when he used his pinky i us my pinky and ring though

  • i have the same Nirvana T-shirt

  • that was great it really helped out a lot... can you do a video on all apologies or about a girl?

  • year,very easy i test it,

  • Great job bro! Thanks !

  • just a hunch...

    Are u playing a marin dx-1 or d-1? lol

    Awesome job man...

    simple learn for anyone..

  • I have a hunch... are u playing a martin?

    dx-1 or d-1?

lol Awesome post... simple learn for anyone...

  • @GuitardedlyRetarded yup its a DXM. Mahogany body with spruce neck

  • @GuitardedlyRetarded

When u say Mahogany body.. You mean HPL (High Pressure Laminate) body. LOL

Dont get me wrong i almost bought the DXM but once i played the D-1 side by side i mand up the 300 difference and went for solid Sapele.

    keep on rockin..

the "nutless" stratabond neck is nice to play on... made from birch... super tough..

  • GOOD!

  • Thanks dude. Cool.

  • thanks guy, you´re really right, this songs not so hard but it sounds simply greaat with you explanation!!!!

  • hey man thanks this really helps you rock

  • Thanks for putting up this video because of you I learned this song in 15 mins :] Your awsome!!! Thanks again!

  • @demonbunny999 thanks for the comment. thats what I hoped this video would do

  • whoa dude, power chords with the pinky? never seen it done like that, but hey if it works, that's cool.

  • @westpsmity yeah I use the pinky and cheat for the frets closer to the neck because I don't need to stretch as much. but I use the ring finger further down after like the 5th fret

  • best lesson ever! thanks!

  • im very new to guitar.... mine doesnt sound like yours but im holding the same strings.... did you do something different? jw......... sorry if this is a stupid question...

  • @ThisSkinnieMinnie there are no stupid questions. My guitar is tuned to Eb, which means you tune every string down a half step or one fret. try looking up Eb tuning on youtube for guitar and tune it to those tones. Alot of blues artists and grunge bands use the Eb tuning

  • @alwayza9er aaaaaaaaaaaah! i got it! thats my first song on guitar!!!

  • Excelent, its greatest men

  • it's a B not a Cb :p

  • @Gibson1961SG whatever xD

  • @krisryu leadbelly made it but kurt changed chords

  • @krisryu, yes I know its originally by leadbelly, but most people looking for this song and are just starting know this by the nirvana unplugged version

  • great lesson dude

  • this was awesome. i love this song! very good tut. keep up the good work :] maybe you could do the song "Something in the Way" by Nirvana

  • that shouldn't be too difficult :) I just got a nirvana tab book so I'l check if it is in there. the man who sold the world is....

  • thanks for the vid it seemed so much harder just on the tabs & chords

    nice acoustic btw

  • yeah I try just to simplify the song Im tryin to teach as much as possible. I have been meaning to do more lessons just need to put aside the time. I think I'm doing black gives way to blue by AIC next. Yeah I love the guitar, its a Martin with a spruce top and mahogony body.

  • another awesome song :] do it.

  • Sounds pretty good. Your technique could use some work though. The way you played those chords seems quite odd, but hey, if it works for you then right on!

  • yeah I know, but when people are just barely starting its easier to play, especially the G. Some people just starting off might not people able to play it the correct way, and then not be able to play the song as readily.

  • i have a poster of your shirt,

    thanks for the video

  • its not by nirvana its by leadbelly nirvana just did a cover

  • I know, but most people looking to learn this song on youtube do not look it up that way and are more familiar with the Nirvana tag

  • Thanks for the lesson and your wearing a nirvana shirt in the video

  • good eye ;)

  • is so easy!! and beautiful song :D thank u

  • thanks, i should be putting some more up soon

  • thnx dude it helps Realy thnxxxxx

  • great job, thanks

  • ha took me the first time to figure it out, rather than trying it myself, thanks really helpful

  • yeah, it was coooool)))I play it all day

    Thank UUUUUU

  • Cheers mate, keep it up

  • just to clear up any confusion, C-flat (Cb) is the same as a B chord. thanks for the lesson!

  • yeah thanks man, I kind of just did the video without planning how I was going to do it so I was kinda winging it lol. thanks for clearing it up for everyone trying to learn it

  • thanks man kip it up

  • so clear great lesson

  • great lesson, you made my day, thank you!

  • your welcome. keep playin

  • Thanks for this lesson ! it was really easy to understand how to play this song ! thanks ! ( sorry for my bad english...im french =) )

  • I'm in love.

  • so are you supposed to barre with your pinky or just press down the 4th string?

  • you should barre it to get the 3rd and 4th string down, which would be the G and D strings

  • so if you're just playin the 5th, 4th and 3rd strings, then why not just press de 5th with the grooming and then the 4th with the ring finger and 3rd with the pinky?

  • because that is how I play it myself, and it seems to be easier for beginners. But of course, you could play it any way you want as long as the right sound comes through

  • Humm, ok then.

    I'm a beginner myself so...thnx ^^

    take care

  • GREAT! helped me !

  • Wow, I actually understood that.

    //aplause.

  • hey alwayza9er great job explaining that awsome song!

  • OMG you are awesome thenk you for the lesson! im learning how to play it

    thanks!

  • ur really gd coz u dont waste time at the begning

  • thanks, I will keep that in mind for future lessons

  • ...lol its a LESSON....not a COVER

  • thanks man

  • How do i get the proper tunning for this?

  • you just tune every string down a half step, or one fret.

  • thx man ur great

  • NICE JOB DUDE best video i ever saw on a guitar lesson and i love this song so thx so much for the awsome awsome help!!!!!!

  • thanks man, I taught myself and made it a focus to make it very easy to understand with no wasted time

  • yeah i have to get my tab book back, or maybe not lol. Those songs should be easy though. I'l get back to you on that. By the way, nice call on the something in the way song, not many people know about it

  • yeah so for something in the way, there are only two chords! The chords are Eminor, which is the first chord in the video for where did you sleep last night, and C. I will still make a video though

  • thanks man..im looking forward to watch those vids

  • lol. i have that same nirvana tee shirt. anyway, nice vid.

  • thank you guys for responding to my vid and I enjoy teaching people to play. I havn't been doing many lessons because of school and work but I'd be happy to make some more if its helpful to people. let me know if anyone wants to learn alice in chains unplugged because i know most of the set
