I read a story in Referee magazine about a youth basketball ref who was shot at during a game, and it just happened that the ref had a pistol in his bag, and pulled it out and shot back. I don't know if anyone got hit, but it just goes to show that our society has completely lost its mind, and this happened several years ago. As a high school baseball umpire, it's always in my mind, that some nut could easily bring a gun to a game and wreak havoc if they felt like it. Just awful!!!
