google search "rude awakening by Charles Carreon" for a really good sense of the real story AND search "ram dass stripping the gurus" THEN search "clark heinrich ram dass" in google books THEN get back to me...Ram Dass meant well but was as gullible as they come...think for yourself...real spirituality comes from within and is subtle, not cheap magic tricks AKA "miracles" retold by a bunch of men and women with serious personality issues...think for yourself and avoid personality cults.
@lnnerPeace I saw the documentary, but it seems like theres more to it. Even in Be Here Now, he explains how when they saw Maharaj ji, everyone would fall to the ground and cry. It's just something I can't relate to yet.

@Shamvorpio and @ InnerPeace.. who knows why he cries? only he knows. Probably everyone would have a different opinion.. for instance his having a stroke never crossed my mind.. I just thought he cried of the sheer devotional power of the chant..it is such a heart centered chant after all! But it doesn't matter. Neither of us are right. It is his experience. But man o' man.. I have shed some tears myself when Krishna Das sings!!! Especially the Breath of Heart version of Hare Krishna. WOW!
This part of Fierce Grace and this song opened me up to kirtan (devotional chanting). If you're looking for a recorded version of the song, it's Mahamantra Meltdown by Krishna Das.
@lnnerPeace I've tried to listen/watch Trolle several time now. I just can seem to connect with him. Most likely some rocks on my path as most of my friends think he's great.
If you are looking for a charismatic teacher then no Tolle is not the person for you. thats because he has virtually no ego and will never look arrogant or insecure or whatever. he has very minimal expression in his face. no numbness tho.
To me that actually is a sign of a very high level of consciousness. he just has virtually no emotional reaction to things. to me thats real power and bliss.
so i hope you will come around one day and see the real power behind him
Ol' Dick Alpert does appear to be pure of heart and in his intentions. He seems to be full of care and generosity for people. But something has always rung false about his "spiritual" teachings. @pape37 "Nothing real can be threatened. Nothing unreal exists. Herein lies the peace of God." A Course in Miracles.. Friend, there is no such thing as fake.
@hirofan I don't take that statement to mean that one must be totally credulous or accept every teaching as equally true or valid. Nisargadatta Maharaj said something similar: "The real does not die. The unreal never lived." Yet while fear or the separate sense of self may ultimately be an illusion, they are still very real on the relative plane. And I never said Ram Dass was a fake. I think he's an average guy who took LSD, had some revelations, but is not a true enlightened guru, IMHO.
@pape37 I see.. I respect the man because it was his suggestion to try a mirror meditation (in "Grist for the Mill") that led to my deep spiritual experience twenty years ago. But yeah, you're right.. I'm sure there were a lot of men like him in the sixties.
So overcome by the Beauty of it all, it does bring you to tears. Oh/om... many of us are right there with you ,Ram Dass. I was deeply touched by this. Thank you with all of my heart for being a teacher when I was so young and questioning/wondering ... and for continuing to be a model of Love to this day!

Om, No one thing is god, all is god, some of us can experiance more of what god is than others, some of us have a stronger spirit, some of us are more awakened, some of us understand reality more and the way things work the way they do, some of us can feel more than others, some of us can step out of our selfs and experiance our selfs as god and see and know things that we in our normal mode of being can not comprehend. we are but ants on a mole hill, humble humble humble. how lucky are you ?
Namaste. I experienced a concert of this amazing man years ago. What was so surprising ...no-one clapped. We were energized... he said the energy was of a freight train coming toward him. From his lungs pours love. Thank you.
Ram Dass is surely the best the sixties ever produced. Such an incredibly fine, selfless spirit, always self-effacing, always genuine, always looking for the God behind every face...
people are sleeping, while they work, eat, marry, living.angry people say that there is no krishna who made the material to form this planet that they are living on,it is sad that they dont see it,we are so blessed to see krishna in everything, wow, thank you krishna.
This is the power of the Holy Name. Brings transcendental bliss and happiness which is what we are pure consciousness. Contaminated by dull matter which is this material body. The food of the soul is the Holy name. Visit my channel and become Krsna Consciousness. Chanting without any offense along with following regulated principles of Bhakti Purification of Consciousness. Good luck with transcendental bliss and happiness. All Glories to Radha Krsna.
jdmx3 You are a very sad person. I wonder, in what form of your spirituality does it say that you are the judge. What places you on such a high plane that you can judge this man? If nothing else, he has helped many people along their path with things he has written and said. You seem to have a massive ego and I feel sorry for you. I feel sorry for the fact that you can write Hare Krishna at the end of your posts when you are obviously so far away from anything remotely divine.
When someone has to defend what there beliefs are and tell others not to listen to this that person should keep their beliefs to themselves. It is just there belief. May all the world and everyone have peace! Love to All. Peace be it whatever religion you are. God loves all!!
We have the same quality as God, For example Gold ring and Gold mine, both have the same quality, but not in quantity. We can build an airplane that flies in the sky, that is our intelligence, But God builds billions of planets. That is his intelligence. Your intelligence may be that you can build, but it is nothing in comparison to God intelligence. We are from God so we have the same quality as God, but we have not the same quantity as God.
he is an impersonalist Rascal, he thinks that he is God, Krishna describes people like him as Mudha, cow ass, fools that derive the supreme personality of God head as any other person are surely Mudhas, milk is pure , but milk touched by a serpent is poisonous, one who is seriously trying to practise devotional service to Krishna, should not listen to this person.
wow, you really got your ass whopped in high school and were rolled in a trash can by the freshmen, weren't you? take your hate filled speech somewhere else, and seriously, post your comments independently, loser. don't try and start a conversation just because you don't have anyone to cry up to

I do not believe that he is God. I never heard him say that he is God. So I cannot support you in your thoughts. I suppose you should "enlighten" people who believe this guy is God
I am writting this here,so that people who want to advance in bhakti yoga should not listen any mantra from this person, and as far it my thoughs,no,it is not,he says it himself, also his guru was an impersonalist,if you read his lectures you will understand, aslo I have heard it from many iskcon temples.
I am not trying to enlgihten people who think he is God,but those that dont know what this man is,who cares of those that think he is god. Those that aspire bhakti should not hear from this man
"To be more humble than a blade of grass, more tolerant than a tree, to offer all respect to others and expect no respect in return. Only in this state of consciousness can we please really Krishna and be empowered to constantly chant the Holy names" - Please be open minded about other peoples belief. At least he chants. Just because he is a monist doesn't mean he is evil, no matter how much Prabhupada criticises monists. Have an open mind and respect others.

Yes and NO , He chants to enter into brahma yoti , one aspect of God. But personalists, who wants to serve Krishna i Bhakti Yoga, they should not listen to this person, it is poisonous, poluting. Yes he chants. A paret can also chant if you teach it. Have an open mind and respect the Paret, thats true, That said, those on the way back to Godhead should be very careful not listen to any impersonalists.
First of all as far as I understand the maha mantra is pure and cleanses the heart as i've been told many a time...How can you possibly say that it is polluting and poisonous just because he doesn't agree with your religious persuasion. What happened to tolerance and peace? The holy name is a "pure sound vibration" so I find it hard to believe that a person who is as convicted in some form of spiritual activity can turn it into something which can be considered polluting...Open your heart.
How incredibly moving and delightful!!! I so much enjoyed watching the different devotional states Ram Dass was experiencing! Thanks for posting this! So wonderful!!!
Seriously, as a soldier in the army reserve and working on a Wall Street investment banking form, my life is very much hectic. I find peace when i visit the New York City Iskcon Temple on the Weekends
he is an impersonalist Rascal, he thinks that he is God, Krishna describes people like him as Mudha, cow ass, fools that derive the supreme personality of God head as any other person are surely Mudhas, milk is pure , but milk touched by a serpent is poisonous, one who is seriously trying to practise devotional service to Krishna, should not listen to this person.
Dancing is nice.....but can we dance within ourselves when our best friend, or child, or lover is dying, can we still dance within even amidst our sorrows and partings..........can we dance with the Eternal...? The shift is absolute, there is no going back to the old ways... I'm not saying it can't be done...its more of a question
@lnnerPeace I find the connection between Tolle and I through his writing. His voice and seeing him makes me feel easeful...but the passing of the love and bliss comes to more more thoroughly through his book. :)
Powerful and beautiful; thank you for posting! And, just in case it matters to anyone, the title you've given this clip: Krishna Das Sings Ram Dass", and the opening parts of the clip, make it sound as though KD is referring to RD (<- what they call each other) as his guru; he's not. He's referring to their mutual guru, Sri Neem Karoli Baba. I might suggest re-titling: "From Fierce Grace: Krishna Das & Ram Das Chant Hare Krishna", or similar. Thanks again! AUM, Namaste.
Life is relative. And so is conditioned god conscious duality concepts. The only karma/kamma is taking birth, to die. In between there is only the mind corresponding polarizing genders vibrating rhythmatically from nothing into no thing, creating causes of effective evolving. Greed, anger and delusion is revolving life. Krsna in this age is Pan, the musical seducer and illusionist. Ram killed Sita, for escaping brahmans to buddhist shelter, and, buddhist monks. Chaitanya is a female name.
"Does anybody know what video is this ? I would like to get a copy and watch it
Thanks
PAromita"
It's from the dvd Fierce Grace, about Ram Dass's life before and after suffering a stroke. It's really heartwarming and inspiring. My favorite part is when Ram Dass and others talk about being with Maharaji in India. It's amazing.
Any way that a religious experience can bring that much happiness into our difficult world, and any solace that these believers can obtain from this; the inherent value of this is not something that can be overlooked, even from the most compelled non-believer. To which group I myself probably belong. Very beautiful.
its a documentary called ''Fierce Grace'' the doc is about Ram Dass and how he deals with his stroke and also alot about his life in general. how he became this guru. very spiritual and beautiful. have fun with it:)
Krishna Das is great singing, but to be honest what I don't like is to see people dancing out-of-their-brain. Every personal experience with God should be more personal and not fall into a ridiculous competition of smiles and dance movements we see here. This is my opinion just. Thanks for posting this good sound.
Dancing is the reflection of the enjoyment they r experiencing. Firstly i used to think the same as you. but believe me when u r in love with god you just do what u feel like.then u don't think of anybody between u and the almighty.
When Ram Dass talks about God... what does he mean? Does God mean love? Or, does God mean religious God?

Very beautiful.

jpvaldez, dancing out-of-your-brain is an utterly religious experience, just as much as staring at a wall. Come on.

See the woman dancing behind Krishna Das, she is Zulieikha, an amazing Dance artist/spiritual teacher, and everyone is sorta dancin like Zuleikha

Krishna Das is great singing, but to be honest what I don't like is to see people dancing out-of-their-brain. Every personal experience with God should be more personal and not fall into a ridiculous competition of smiles and dance movements we see here. This is my opinion just. Thanks for posting this good sound.

I know what you mean, but perhaps this is a sincere dance that occurs 'outside of the brain.'

Dancing is the reflection of the enjoyment they r experiencing. Firstly i used to think the same as you. but believe me when u r in love with god you just do what u feel like.then u don't think of anybody between u and the almighty.
